GENERAL
Trainer P Webster was fined the sum of $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for the late declaration of rider G. Geran on THAT’S AN EXTRA in Race 1. Mr Webster was also severely reprimanded pursuant to LR 36(6) for failing to scratch THAT’S AN EXTRA by the prescribed time which was a dual acceptor in races 1 and 4.
Trainer S Kirkwood was reprimanded pursuant to LR 67(1) for the late declaration of apprentice R Thornburn on HEAVENLY ARTIST in Race 3.
Trainer C Geran was severely reprimanded pursuant to LR 36(6) for failing to scratch KING JESTER by the prescribed time which was a dual acceptor in races 1 and 4.
Trainer M. Nolan was fined $200 pursuant to AR65 for failing to have his Thoroughbred Identification Cards when requested.
After the running of race 2 App K Lenton was unable to fulfill her remaining rides due to soreness of the right shoulder. Ms Lenton was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to race riding again. Rider changes made as per the Stewards Summary Report.
Race 1 - TOOWOOMBA SOFTBALL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 M
HEROIC CHIEF – Raced wide throughout.
BLANTONS RUN – Passing the 250m was taken wider by the riderless horse.
DARK SKIES – Under-went a pre race veterinary examination after not having started for a long period of time. Trainer A Park was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its poor performance (18l).
COMMAND APPROVED – Rider H Richardson reported the gelding failed to travel throughout, and in her opinion would appreciate a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
JACKA STANDS ALONE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils on the first occasion. Trainer P Webster was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).
MISHANI EXTREME – Began awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
THAT'S AN EXTRA – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
CRYPTO MISS – Blundered on jumping dislodging rider. App Lenton was examined by QAS officers and a concussion assessment carried out under the QRIC concussion protocol and cleared to fulfill her remaining rides. CRYPTO MISS underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no obvious abnormalities.
Race 2 - GRAHAM NIELSEN CONSTRUCTION QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
TUXEDO TORPEDO – Raced keenly early and middle stages. Steadied off heels near the 800m when racing keen. Rider App K Lenton reported her mount raced greenly throughout.
MAGRITTE – Shortly after the start was bumped heavily and became unbalance, then eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of CIPHER SHOW when TUXEDO TORPEDO shifted in when racing keen. Held up rounding the home turn. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight before shifting in abruptly passing the 100m.
O'REILLYS FLIGHT – Raced keenly early. Shortly after the start was eased off heels when racing keen. Bumped with MISHANI CABELLO rounding the home turn when that runner shifted in.
PLEASURE AND PAIN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
TRADE BARBS – At the start was tightened for room and lost ground.
MISHANI PERFORMER – Shifted out on jumping.
MISHANI CABELLO – Raced wide without cover for the majority. Shifted in rounding the home turn bumping O'REILLYS FLIGHT. Rider App O Kendall could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer D Stanbridge was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for a poor performance. (16L)
ALL THOSE GLITTERS - At the start was tightened for room and lost ground.
Race 3 - COL WILKIE BODY WORKS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
I WASONLY NINETEEN – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
FOXY ARTIST – Raced wide for the majority. Taken wider near the 500m when racing to the inside of GRAFTING when that runner shifted out.
GRAFTING – Rider J Malloy reported he could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examinationed revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer B Everingham was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for its poor performance. (19L)
HEAVENLY ARTIST – Near the 900m was eased and shifted out across the heels of DAIANE (L Tilley) when that runner shifted in when insufficiently clear. Rider L Tilley was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
TESTY NIC – Began awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Rider M Aiken reported that this was his mount first up run after a spell, and would derive fitness benefit from today’s run.
OLE ALI – Began awkwardly.
Race 4 - SELECTED SEEDS STAHI KATSIDIS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M
JACK BE LUCKY – Rider App R Thorburn reported he could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance.
SUPER QUICK – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for the majority.
KADALL – Held up rounding the home turn. Rider M Aitken reported that his mount would appreciate a step up in distance.
IRAMA - Change of tactics; To be ridden more forward – Began awkwardly and slow away.
Raced wide without cover for the majority.
KING JESTER - Raced wide for the majority. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
TAKE A PICTURE – Near the 200m was momentarily held up before shifting out.
WORTHY ENUFF – Near the 800m was restrained to obtain a position closer to the rail. Eased down in the home straight. Rider D Turner reported his mount hung badly throughout the race and elected to ease down in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examinationed revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer M Nolan was advised the gelding would need to officially trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
JIMMYINTHEJUNGLE - Near the 500m was momentarily eased when SUPER QUICK (N Tomizawa) shifted in when not fully clear. Rider N Tomizawa was advised to show greater care when shifting ground. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
Race 5 - COOPER COMMERCIAL RACE CALLERS CUP BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1650 M
BOLE LE – Raced keenly early.
ARAMINTA – Slow to begin.
SIR GOLDALOT – As App K Lenton was unable to ride due to injury, she was replaced by G Cartwright as no other apprentices were available. Change of tactics; to be ridden more forward – began awkwardly, settled midfield. Eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of AUTUMN GALE when that runner shifted in when racing ungenerously. Shifted in across heels passing the 100m to obtain clear room.
AUTUMN GALE – Bumped heavily on jumping. Raced ungenerously throughout proving difficult to ride. Rider D Turner was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out fully to the finish line.
SWEET PRETENDER - Began awkwardly bumping heavily with AUTUMN GALE. Held up passing the 400m by the weakening EINSTAG.
EINSTAG – Raced keenly early and middle stages, weakended from the 600m. When questioned, in regards to tactics, rider, A Keeley stated he was instructed to be in a forward position, after beginning only fairly from a wide barrier, his mount had to work hard for a forward position and then commenced to over-race, his mount continued to race keenly down the back straight before settling passing the 800m, he further added the gelding did too much work early work early and started to yield ground from the 600m despite his urges. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer M Nolan was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its poor performance. (25L)
SHOT DOWN BY LOVE – Held up from the 500m to 400m by the weakening EINSTAG before shifting wider.
ANYWAY YOU WANT IT - Rider App R Thorburn was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out fully to the finish line.
Race 6 - EMPIRE OF JAPAN MAIDEN PLATE 1650 M
WINGEANDWIN (NZ) - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers after the rider became concerned with its action, subsequently, WINGEANDWIN was scratched on veterinary advice at 8:34pm. On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on WINGEANDWIN to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st - SHRIMPTON – 18c win, 14c place.
2nd – LANGDOWN LEGACY – 21c place.
3rd – WHISKEY WARRIOR – 12c place.
Trainer J Gleeson was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
LANGDOWN LEGACY – Bumped heavily on jumping when KING’S DIAMOND shifted out and bumped again shortly there after. Raced wide early.
O'EXPLOSIVE - Stood flat footed (4L). Trainer P Burns was advised that gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
KING’S DIAMOND – Bumped heavily on jumping and again shortly after with LANGDOWN LEGACY. Commenced to lose ground from the 400m and finished tailed off (25L). A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer C Geran was advised that the gelding would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
CORI VERU – Shortly after the start was eased when awkwardly placed on heels when racing ungenerous, continued to race keenly until passing the 900m.
WHISKEY WARRIOR – Eased when racing keenly passing the 1000m.
SHRIMPTON - As App K Lenton was unable to ride due to injury, she was replaced by L Tilley as no other or suitable apprentices were available. Change of tactics; To be ridden more forward if mare begins well – Began fairly, settled back in the field. Raced wide from the 800m.
