GENERAL
 
Trainer P. Webster was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of A. Jones as the rider of HOWDOYOUZOU in Race 4.
 
Trainer K. Clark-Peoples was fined $100 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of R. Houston as the rider of TONNEOFGRIT in Race 6.
 
Co. Trainer C. Geran was fined $500 under AR 296(2)(d)(ii) for failing to lodge an amendment to a Stable Return for STAR RAPPER in Race 4. 
 
After receiving a report from the Compliance Assurance Team, Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry into the presence of an unlabeled substance found in Trainer T. Pascoe’s stable on race morning.
 
Stewards intend to inquire into the circumstances surrounding Apprentice J. Williams being unable to fulfil today’s riding engagements. Apprentice J. Williams was replaced as per the race day summary and requested to produce a medical before he next rides.
 
Race 1 - LIVEWIRED ELECTRICAL 0 - 65 HANDICAP          1300 M
 
FIRE AND LIGHT – Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
ULTIMATE OUTCOME – Bumped at the start.

THATS ARCHIES GIRL – Passing the 600m, was hampered and carried out by FIRE AND LIGHT, which shifted out to improve.
 
JUSTELA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after a skin irritation was detected and was cleared to start. Blundered at the start. Apprentice O. Kendal reported that JUSTELA failed to respond when placed under pressure and proved disappointing. She further added that in her opinion the mare may appreciate tracks with more give in them. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Following today’s disappointing performance, Trainer M. Laine was advised that JUSTELA was stood down from metropolitan races until such time its form improves to the requisite standards.
 

DEEP TIARA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Rider J. Bayliss reported at scale that in his opinion the mare may appreciate tracks with more give in them.

PERLE DE CHOCOLAT – Laid out over the concluding stages under pressure.
 
SHOW ME THE STARS – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages.Passing the 300m was steadied when close to the heels of JUSTELA, which was weakening.

UPSTART LOVER – After beginning awkwardly was obliged to settle further back than intended. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running at the entrance of the home straight. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

BUTT HEADS – When asked to comment on performance Rider L. Tilley reported that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages, however when the pace quickened near the 400m, BUTT HEADS failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing.

GOLDEN LOOM - Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
STRAIGHT BLAST – Shifted in at the start and bumped ULTIMATE OUTCOME. Raced three wide without cover throughout.  


Race 2 - K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP **WEIGHTS RAISED 0.5KG** 1625 M
 
CAPITAL ASSET – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
LUPINE (NZ) – Laid out rounding the home turn. Rider M. Rodd reported that his mount was inclined to over-race in the early stages, which in his opinion, was detrimental to its finishing efforts.

THE LOUVRE – Began awkwardly. Passing the 100m, shifted out abruptly under pressure, before being corrected by its rider.

DON'T DISS AROUND – Slow to begin. Apprentice A. Roper reported that her mount failed to travel in the early and middle stages and when placed under full pressure, laid in for the remainder of the event.

BARBRAY – Connections advised of a change of tactics; to be ridden more forward. Slow to begin and settled worse of midfield. Approaching the 300m, was eased when close to the heels of MIRRA IMPACT, before shifting out. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider T. Marshall reported that after being slow to begin, he settled further back than anticipated.


Race 3 - SHERRIN RENTALS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP          1625 M
 
BLUEPINOT – Shifted in at the start.     
LUTON HOO (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
FOUR ACE – Slow to begin.

TUHINGA - Near the 1500m, had to be eased when close to the heels of MADALSA, which shifted in.
 
MADALSA – Hampered at the start. Passing the 200m, was bumped by TUHINGA, which shifted out. Bumped again near the 100m by TUHINGA. Rider L. Tilley reported that in his opinion the mare may have come to the end of its current preparation. Trainer P. Webster advised that MADALSA will now be sent for a spell.

GALWAY FLYER – Rider R. Maloney reported that in his opinion the gelding did not handle the tight turning Toowoomba surface. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
HELLO DOLLY DIVA – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. Inclined to lay our rounding the turn near the 1300m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Rider A. Jones reported that after beginning awkwardly she was obliged to make use of her mount in the early stages to comply with instruction and in her opinion, this may have been detrimental to its overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 4 - BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP   1000 M
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Apprentice S. Callow and Trainer K. Kemp to enquire into whether VIALE was afforded a fair start. After reviewing the official video footage, Apprentice S. Callow and Trainer K. Kemp elected not to lodge an objection and Stewards declared correct weight on the judges’ semaphored numbers

 
SHOWS A SIGN – Began awkwardly. Over the concluding stages was carried in by HOWDOYOUZOU which shifted in.

AIR WE GO – Passing the 100m was obliged to shift wider in an attempt to improve.      
 
ANGEL LADDER – QOP drifter $7.5-11. Apprentice A. Roper reported that the mare had improved between its first and second up performance, however in her opinion would derive further benefit from today’s race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
YOWERI – Knuckled at the start. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

HOWDOYOUZOU – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

STAR RAPPER – Bumped at the start. Raced wide. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

VIALE – Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trailed the field until near the 600m. Trainer K. Kemp was advised that VIALE would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.

DR FARTHING – Bumped at the start. Laid out rounding the home turn and in the straight.


Race 5 - MOORE TRAILERS BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP          1300 M
 
TRUE AMOR – Shifted out at the start. Passing the 300m, was eased when racing in restricted room to the inside of IRAMA (G. Geran). Rider G. Geran was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
 
RIMBAUD – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

IRAMA – Passing the 600m, shifted out to commence a three wide run. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Rider G. Geran reported that his saddle slipped forward over the concluding stages, placing him at a slight disadvantage.

SUPER QUICK – Eased down over the final 200m. Rider S. Cormack reported that the gelding may have gotten its tongue over the bit. Trainer T. Dougall was at a loss to explain the poor performance. He was advised that a warning would now be placed on SUPER QUICK in its relation to its poor performance.

GALPIN – Slow to begin.  
 
MELDUBIOUS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress.
 
TAKE A PICTURE – Lost its off fore plate.
 
SUPERALLOY - Hampered at the start. Passing the 300m, was bumped on the hindquarters by GALPIN which had shifted out.         


Race 6 - EUREKA STUD BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP          1200 M
 
MEAN APPROACH – Shifted out and bumped OUR MAGNUS. Raced wide throughout.

NO DRAMA (NZ) – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 50m, was held up, before securing clear running approaching the winning post.

OUR MAGNUS – Bumped at the start. Raced wide.
 
TONNEOFGRIT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide.
 
ESTRONDO – Held up for clear running from approaching the 300m until passing the 200m.

SHELSTEIN – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 1000m between BLANTONS RUN, and MEAN APPROACH, which shifted in. Jockey D. Moor reported that he had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight and in his opinion, the gelding races at its best when it can build momentum into it run. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  
 
AMUSEANTES - Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the middle stages.         
 
THIS IS ONE – Rider L. Tilley reported that the gelding races best when it is able to lead, and after being unable to do so in today’s event, it was detrimental to its overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery.

BLANTONS RUN – Passing the 1000m, was bumped by SHELSTEIN, which was racing in restricted room to the inside of MEAN APPROACH (Appr. J. McMurray), which shifted in when not clear. Apprentice J. McMurray was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.


Race 7 - MAGIC MILLIONS TOOWOOMBA GUINEAS QTIS 3YO PLATE  1200 M
 
 
APOSTLE (NZ) – Passing the 600m, shifted out to commence a wide run.

HIGH PROPHET – Raced wide without cover throughout. Passing the 800m raced in restricted room to the inside of SWIFT DRAGON, which had shifted in marginally. Near the 700m, was bumped by SWIFT DRAGON (R. Wiggins) and became unbalanced. Rider R. Wiggins was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. Held up for clear running passing the 400m until approaching the 200m. Passing the 150m was again held up for a short distance before shifting out into clear running approaching the 100m.

WATCHMAN – Raced keenly in the lead. Rider T. Marshall reported that his mount raced keenly and added that the gelding also raced greenly and will benefit from further racing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed high grade heat stress.
 
O'REILLYS FLIGHT - Began awkwardly and then knuckled. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
ESPERANZA – Rider A. Jones reported that the filly raced fiercely in the early stages, was unable to find cover and continued to race keenly in the middle stages which in her opinion, was detrimental to its overall performance. Rider A. Jones was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts out fully to the finishing line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

CAUSE SHE CAN – Raced greenly.

MAGRITTE – Near the 700m, was bumped by HIGH PROPHET.  


Race 8 - 1EQUINE WEETWOOD - LISTED      1200 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 4 mins owing to MILLANE becoming fractious in the barriers, rearing and causing Rider D. Moor’s head to make contact with his mount. Subsequently MILLAINE underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start. Rider D. Moor was examined by QAS Officials and stood down from his remaining riding engagements. Jockey D. Moor was advised that a medical clearance and cognitive test would be required prior to riding again. MILLANE was declared a late scratching at 6:24pm on Stewards orders. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on MILLANE be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st LET'SFACETHEMUSIC 9c win, 7c place
2nd COSMIC FIRE 10c place
3rd BRAVE MONARCH 8c place
 
BRAVE MONARCH – Held up for clear running passing the 300m, before shifting out and bumping with COSMIC FIRE. Rider M. Harley was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using his whip above shoulder height.
 
EPIC PROPORTIONS – Knuckled at the start and shifted out.

ESJAY – Shortly after the start was restrained when placed in restricted room momentarily. Raced keenly in the early stages.

RESTONICA – Bumped with LET'SFACETHEMUSIC at the start.

LET'SFACETHEMUSIC – Bumped with RESTONICA at the start.

DEMON AWARD – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Approaching the 200m, steadied when placed in restricted room between CHERRY ROSE and BRAVE MONARCH, which shifted in.

EXOTIQUE MISS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Passing the 800m, got its head up on a number of occasions. Approaching the 200m was bumped by ESJAY, which shifted in.

BLAZING HARRY – Began awkwardly. Rider B. Thompson reported that the gelding failed to travel and proved disappointing when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal abnormalities.

THE DEPUTY (NZ) – Hampered at the start. Passing the 1000m, had to be eased when close to the heels of BRAVE MONARCH.


Race 9 - TAB TOOWOOMBA CUP         2000 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 5 mins owing to JEMOMA ALPILAGE casting its near hind plate in the race day stalls and requiring farrier attention. Subsequently underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start.
 
UNLIMITED (IRE) – Connections advised of a change of tactics; to be ridden more forward. Settled in a handy position. Rider R. Maloney reported that in his opinion the gelding may appreciate tracks with more give and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
SUN WORSHIPPER – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Laid in under pressure.

FELIX THE SCAT – Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride before settling outside the leader near the 1200m.
 
CAVALRY MAN – Raced wide without cover from the 1200m.

PRINCE LEVI – Passing the winning post on the first occasion, improved close to the heels of ARTFUL GIRL, which had shifted in marginally and as a result, had to be restrained. Leaving the 200m, was bumped and carried in by ARTFUL GIRL, which shifted in to obtain clear running.

THE RIGHT WAY (NZ) – Rider J. Bayliss dropped his whip near the 250m.

OUR TURN NOW (NZ) – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.
 
ALFA DUNDEE – Passing the 300m, had to be steadied when in restricted room.  
 
CHILLAXING (IRE) - Passing the winning post on the first occasion was eased when close to the heels of PRINCE LEVI.
 
DIVINE PURPOSE – Commenced a four wide run from the 700m.          

JEMOMA ALPILAGE – Commenced to weaken passing the 300m. Rider T. Marshall was at a loss for today’s poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery.
 
MARENARO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 200m, shifted out to secure clear running.   

Race 10 - AG RIGGING CLASS 6 HANDICAP  1300 M
 
FACUNDO – Approaching the 1000m, was taken in by NEW JOY. Rider C. Graham reported that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure, failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. She further added that in her opinion, FACUNDO may appreciate tracks with more give in them.

NEW JOY – Rider L. Tilley reported that his mount raced keenly in the early stages and he was unable to travel at a comfortable tempo. He further added that in his opinion this may have been detrimental to the overall performance of the mare.

OFF THE PRESS – Slow to begin. Passing the 600m, was hampered and carried wider by WORTHY ENUFF, which shifted out to improve. When asked to comment on the below market performance, Apprentice A. Roper reported that after being slow to begin she settled further back than intended and that she advised connections that the gelding may benefit from the addition of blinkers to its race day gear. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recover.
 
SIR WINNIE – Approaching the 1000m had to be steadied when close to the heels of FACUNDO, which was taken in by NEW JOY (L. Tilley), which shifted in when not fully clear. Rider L. Tilley was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.       
 
OUTWEIGHED – A post race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery.
 
M. Du. Plessis was reprimanded pursuant LR 54 to for having the chin strap of his helmet unclipped upon return to the mounting yard.
