RACE 1 LASER CLINICS AUSTRALIA RATINGS BAND 0 - 52 HANDICAP 1010 M
KING OF GERALDINE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Approaching the 250m was disappointed for a narrow run between SAVVY SONG and MINXY which had both had shifted ground slightly, then shifted out further to obtain clear running.
LOPE BY NIGHT – Began awkwardly.
CLAW MACHINE – Approaching the 950m raced in restricted room before being steadied. An inquiry into this incident will be heard at a later date due to apprentice K. Lenton being unavailable whilst she was being assessed by QAS. Passing the 900m fell. Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry into the reasons the gelding fell at this stage of the race after taking evidence from apprentice J. Emmerson, in the presence of R. Fradd and rider J. Molloy. Stewards spoke with trainer B. Gorman where he reported the gelding has pulled up satisfactory, with no obvious injuries. He added the intention was to monitor CLAW MACHINE in his stable for the week before having a spell. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

RACE 4 CARPET CALL TOOWOOMBA RATINGS BAND 0 - 52 HANDICAP 1300 M
Stewards brought forward the start time of this event to 2:50pm to attempt to avoid electrical storm activity which was approaching the racecourse.
After arriving at the barriers and once loading had commenced, Stewards assessed that it was no longer safe or suitable to race and requested all horses to be backed out and returned to the mounting yard. I AM PIETRA got loose during this process and galloped riderless for some distance before being recaptured.
Shortly after horses had returned to the yard severe lightning, rain and hail hit the course where Stewards elected to impose an indefinite delay and followed the Adverse Weather Policy in relation to lightning. Although on delay Stewards elected to withdraw I AM PIETRA at 3:08pm after it had been assessed when back to the tie ups.
With continued electrical activity in the region at 3:45pm Stewards contacted the BOM for the most updated weather forecast along with a forecast for the remainder of the day. They were advised of continued storms, inclusive of lightning for approximately the next 2 hours. On this advice, along with consultation with the Toowoomba Turf Club and riding group, Stewards abandoned the remainder of the meeting at 3:50pm.
