SCARLET POET – Made the crossing out of the home straight awkwardly.

SOUTHERN AFFAIR – Raced ungenerously in the early stages, made the turn out of the home straight awkwardly and raced three wide until a point near the 800m when ridden forward to obtain a position closer to the rails.

Race 2: STATE ELECTION QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 800M

Trainer S. McEwan was fined $100 for the late declaration of blinkers for SUPERSTAR BELL.

As B. Evans was unable to obtain a medical clearance, N. Evans was substituted as the rider of DAZET.

SHAZAMI – Laid out approaching the 400m.

BILLIONS – Tightened for room near the 200m and forced to check when racing to the inside of another runner.

STARBYTE – In the early stages of the home straight apprentice B. Newport lost the use of his nearside rein and as a result the horse shifted in abruptly, placing the rider at a distinct disadvantage for a considerable period.

HIGH SOCIETY – Bumped after passing the winning post.

MOOLAH MISS – Shifted in abruptly after passing the winning post and made contact with HIGH SOCIETY.

STREET FASHION – Laid out approaching the 400m.

SUPERSTAR BELL – Slow to begin and then failed to muster early speed. Shifted in abruptly approaching the 100m.

DELIGHTFUL DANCER – Steadied and shifted wider on the track to avoid the heels of another runner approaching the 400m.

SCENIC DIAMOND – Tightened for room approaching the 400m, checked, lost ground and shifted out when runners to the inside shifted out and HIGH SOCIETY (K. Yoshida) shifted in. As stewards were not able to attribute blame to any one rider, it was deemed a racing incident, however jockey Yoshida was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

Race 3: XXXX GOLD QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1100M

ALL TROOPS – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Commenced to race keenly and shifted out when crossed by another runner near the 900m. Laid out during the middle stages.

BIG DOLLARS – Raced greenly throughout.

OFFWITHTHEFAIRIES – Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 800m and raced wide for the remainder of the event. Raced greenly in the home straight whilst weakening.

SUNNY GIRL – Slow to begin, began awkwardly and lost considerable ground. A warning was issued against the horse’s barrier manners.

Race 4: JUSTIN BRIGGS COMMEMORATIVE CLASS 3 PLATE – 1500M

MONSIEUR HUGHES – Jumped in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. After being caught wide in the early stages, jockey Goltz allowed his mount to stride forward to a position closer to the rails approaching the 800m.

STEEL TO THE HEEL – Raced greenly for a short distance when the pace of the race steadied near the 1000m.

JUST A ROCKSTAR – Bumped heavily at the start. Raced greenly for a short distance when the pace of the race steadied near the 1000m. Laid out rounding the 800m turn.

Race 5: RAILWAY HOTEL ALLORA CUP BM70 H'CAP – 1200M

GAELSTORM – Began awkwardly.

BARONESS ZEENA – Held up in the early stages of the home straight and was forced to shift in abruptly to obtain clear running.

TAILWIND – Began awkwardly. Steadied to avoid the heels of ALL IN ALL (N. Evans), which shifted in when not completely clear. Jockey Evans was advised to exercise more care.

ALL IN ALL – When questioned as to the seemingly disappointing performance, jockey N. Evans advised that after being caught wide in the early stages from the outside barrier, he was forced to pressure his mount more than he ideally wanted to obtain its customary forward position. He added that the mare travelled comfortably in the middle stages, however when placed under pressure proved disappointing. Trainer T. Dougall expressed a little disappointment in the performance, however did advise that given the work the horse was forced to do in the early stages and given that it was 5 weeks between runs in today’s event, it would derive a fitness advantage as a result of today’s run and he will continue with its current preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

GLEN ROCK – Raced very wide throughout.

EUREKA DAZZLER – Momentarily held up at the heels of another runner at the entrance to the straight.

B. Appo (GAELSTORM) was kicked by his mount whilst unsaddling. On the advice of ambulance personnel, B. Appo was stood down from his remaining engagements and riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

The track was upgraded to GOOD 4 at 3.50 pm.

Race 6: ALLORA ENGINEERING & WELDING AEW HORSE WALKERS RATINGS 0-60 H'CAP – 1100M

STYLISH DRAGON – Held up for a short distance near the 400m.

TIERES ROCK – Raced wide throughout. Laid in in the home straight. N. Yamada was reprimanded for using the whip in a forehand manner in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

ULTIMATE RUSH – Began very awkwardly and made heavy contact with the runner drawn to its outside.

ZEEVA – Hung out throughout the event.

PIKARI STAR – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight at the heels of a tiring runner and was forced to shift to the outside to obtain clear running.

CHOSEN COURT – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

NADOR – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Apprentice B. Richardson was questioned in relation to her tactics and riding of the gelding. Of concern to stewards was the reason for the gelding settling a considerable distance last after being tightened for room at the start. Apprentice Richardson advised that she was instructed to ride the gelding more forward than at its most recent start, however after receiving interference at the start she was forced to settle at the rear of the field. She added that in the early to middle stages of the event, whilst noting she was a number of lengths behind the second last horse, she was reluctant to overly pressure the gelding as she felt this would have resulted in the horse becoming unbalanced and she was more of the view to allow the horse to settle to give it the best possible chance of finishing the race off strongly. After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, apprentice Richardson agreed with the view of the stewards that she had erred in her riding during the early and middle stages of the event by not placing the gelding under far more pressure to obtain a position closer to the main body of the field. Stewards advised apprentice Richardson that in similar circumstances she would be expected to show far more vigour than she had on this occasion.

HIDDEN EDITION – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

Race 7: LION NATHAN / ALLORA BUTCHERY / ALLORA TRUE VALUE HARDWARE CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1350M.

MAGIC OF LOVE, which was kicked by another runner behind the barriers and found to be lame by the veterinary surgeon, was declared a late scratching at 4.46 pm. After being kicked by the Clerk of the Course’s horse behind the barriers, W. O’Connell was unable to fulfil his engagement on LIKE LALA and the horse was declared a late scratching at 4.48 pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on both horses be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 4.46 pm:

10 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #3
