From Ipswich 24.12.15 – Race 7 : Trainer S. Iverson advised stewards that CRACK A COLDIE had pulled up shin sore following the event and would now be sent for a spell.

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

Due to personal circumstances, J. Morris was unable to fulfil his engagements in Races 5 and 7 and riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

RACE 1: WARWICK DAILY NEWS BM60 H’CAP – 2000M

Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer P. Sexton for the late declaration of S. Apthorpe as the rider of PRINCE OF PEACE.

EARNEST DESIRE – When questioned, M. Hellyer could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of the horse which in his opinion never travelled at any stage during the event. Trainer W. Hulbert confirmed that the horse will now be retired. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

QABLA – Bumped with another runner at the start.

ROYALTOWN ROAD – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Raced wide from the 700m. Apprentice M. Schrapel was fined $100 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

BRIGLIADORO – P. Romeo was fined $100 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. Trainer G. Blades reported that in his opinion the mare raced flat today and as such would be sent for an immediate spell.

DINA’S DRAGON – T. Banks was reprimanded for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

TILLZALE – Jumped in the air at the start.

PRINCE OF PEACE – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. Forced to steady to avoid the heels of another runner when leaving the home straight on the first occasion.

SHERBET – Began awkwardly.

CARACAS – Bumped with another runner at the start.

BOOBOISIE – Raced three wide for the majority of the event.

SCRAWLING – Fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly and as a result lost ground.

RACE 2: HYNES NEWSAGENCY/CAREY BROS MEATS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M

HIGHTOWER – Raced wide throughout.

NAYTELLRHI MISS – Began awkwardly.

LOVE UNKNOWN – Slow to begin.

RAPID BOY – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 700m.

KODAJET – Finished tailed off. Trainer G. Schwenke advised stewards that the filly would now be retired. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

DUPRE – Raced wide in the early stages.

RACE 3: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M

Trainer R. Lipp was fined $100 for the late declaration of M. O’Brien as the rider of FELTON ROAD and $100 for failing to produce the horse’s Thoroughbred Identification Card.

Trainer B. Currie was fined $100 for the late declaration of K. Fujii as the rider of UNI.

Subject to further submissions, trainer J. Wallace was fined $100 for the late declaration of M. Schrapel as the rider of CAVIAR GIRL.

BIG DOLLARS – Raced wide throughout.

CHOISAY – Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground.

FELTON ROAD – Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained rounding the turn near the 700m.

UNI – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.

CAVIAR GIRL – Began awkwardly, made contact with the barrier partition and then made heavy contact with another runner.


RACE 4: STEELE'S BAKERY & CAFE CLASS 3 PLATE – 1100m

MORE LEVERAGE – Forced to steady to avoid heels when racing keenly on a number of occasions after passing the 700m. Apprentice H. Phillips was fined $100 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

OL’ BROWN EYES – Steadied from heels when placed in restricted room near the 800m. Raced wide for the majority of the event. P. Romeo was fined $100 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

DARLING BE GOOD – Leaving the 700m was forced to steady to avoid the heels of SQUEEMI, which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice B. Derbyshire was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. S. Apthorpe was reprimanded for using the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

RACE 5: PSP VIDEO – HAPPY NEW YEAR! CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1500M

CHAMPAGNE TALES – Bumped with another runner on a number of occasions passing the 700m. Shifted very wide on the track over the concluding stages. Apprentice T. Brooker was fined $400 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

ALWAYS A GIBBERER – Raced ungenerously for a considerable distance in the early and middle stages whilst being restrained. Bumped with another runner near the 1000m. Laid in in in the early stages of the home straight Following the event the horse was found to be suffering heat stress and trainer J. Fitzgerald advised that as such it will be spelled immediately.

CROUPIER – Jumped in the air at the start. Bumped with another runner near the 1000m.

CEDA MISS – Raced wide throughout.

MOUNT PERRY – Bumped with another runner on a number of occasions passing the 700m. Apprentice S. Fawke was fined $100 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m

RACE 6: HOPE'S BODY REPAIRS/LANG & WALKER COUNTRY QLD SHOWCASE BM79 H’CAP – 1200M

TYPHOON RED – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the off fore leg.

VINTAGE MOSS – Blundered badly at the start and lost ground, then raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event before being retired from the race by apprentice Stower. On returning to scale apprentice B. Stower advised that after blundering at the start, in the early stages of the event she felt that the gelding was amiss in its action and for that reason eased it out of the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards with follow up with trainer J Fitzgerald in the days subsequent to today’s event in relation the to horses post-race recovery.

REAL FAVULOUS – Slow into stride.

WRITTENINTHERAIN – L. McCoy was reprimanded for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

RACE 7: BRIAN BUNCH PLUMBING CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1350M

Subject to further submissions, Trainer P. Facoory was fined $100 for the late declaration of M. Murphy as the rider of QUALITY MAN.

Subject to further submissions, trainer R. Smith was fined $100 for the late declaration of M. Crawford as the rider of GUMDALE BOY.

After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, apprentice M. Murphy, the rider of QUALITY MAN, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against OLLIE RUNS RIOT (H. Phillips) being declared the winner, alleging a breach of the whip rules by apprentice Phillips. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos it was established that prior to the 100m apprentice Phillips had used the whip in excess of the number of times permitted by the rules, however stewards did not believe that the manner in which she had used the whip had materially affected the placings of both horses at the finish and therefore dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored. At a subsequent inquiry apprentice Phillips was fined $500.

DOUBLE EAGLE – Slow to begin and was then further hampered shortly after the start when forced to steady to avoid heels.

QUALITY MAN – Raced wide with cover.

FELIX – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 700m. M. Hellyer was fined $100 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

BARBUDA – Bumped heavily at the start, became unbalanced and lost ground.

KODO – Bumped another runner shortly after the start. Held up for a short distance near the 200m.

DEEP CROSSING – Raced three wide for the majority of the event.

GUMDALE BOY – M. Crawford was reprimanded for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
