GENERAL

Jky S Lacy was not able to ride at today’s meeting due to illness, as such Stewards approved the following replacement and weight variation- Race 7- Jky R Jamieson- +.5kg.


Race 1: W. CAREY & SONS QUALITY MEATS / HYNES NEWSAGENCY Maiden Plate 800 metres

The start was delayed when SUPER EXCEPTIONAL was awkward in the barriers and had to be reloaded,

Jaqen H'ghar- Shifted out under pressure in running.

Marty Awha- Stewards fined Jky N Fazackerley under the provision of AR190(3) the sum of $200 for accepting a ride when overweight.

Angama- Began awkward then raced wide for the majority of the event.

Dragon Claws- Raced wide for the majority of the event. On returning to scale Jky N Vuille advised Stewards that her mount failed to improve in running despite her best efforts. Stewards noted Jky Vuille’s comments.

Light Up The Dawn- Jumped awkwardly and bumped with SIZZLEOVER shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Peppimenarti- Tightened for room shortly after beginning between VEGATABLE LASAGNE and SUPER EXCEPTIONAL as they jumped out and in respectively.

Sizzlelover- Bumped by another runner after the start. Laid in shortly after entering the home straight.

Vegetable Lasagne- Slow to begin, and bumped SUPER EXCEPTIONAL as the start was affected, then continued to shift out tightening PEPPIMENARTI shortly after the start. then raced wide for the majority of the event.

Super Exceptional- Began awkwardly, was bumped by another runner continued to shift in shortly after the start. Out and away from another runner in the home straight.


Race 2: MAYDAN LIVESTOCK TRANSPORT / FREESTONE FEEDLOT Maiden Plate 800 metres

Celtic Flash (NZ)- Was slow to begin. Raced wide laying out with no cover for the majority of the event.

Golden Groove- Laid in under pressure in running.

Sleepdance- Was slow to begin.

Confetti- Began awkwardly, raced greenly during the early stages of the event despite the best efforts of the rider to improve, then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.

Race 3: THE MALTHOUSE Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1350 metres

Abb Roy- Raced wide during the middle stages of the event.

Dreamseeker- Raced keenly at the 1100m point, bumping MADAGASASCAR MISS and then over raced when crossing shifting in leaving the 1100m. At the 900m over raced onto heels and shifted in.

Madagascar Miss- Bumped by another runner at the 1100m point then raced ungenerously for a number of strides and at the 900m point was crowded for room then raced keenly on heels having to be restrained. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which was undertaken due to a seemingly disappointing performance. This examination failed to locate any abnormalities.

Zenia- Raced wide until the 800m point then obtained a forward position on the inside of the leader adjacent to the inside running rail. The raced keenly down the home straight.

The Polenitsa- At the 1100m improve on heels then laid out having to be restrained for a short distance approaching the 800m point.

In Great Nic- Began awkwardly. Ran at the tail of the field for some distance then raced wide on entering the home turn and then proceeded to race wide for the remainder of the event.

Marcada- Raced keenly for the majority of the event. Appr Jky J Molloy was fined the sum of $200 by Stewards under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use the whip in an excessive manner on 6 occasions prior to the 100m point,1 more than permitted.

Trust In A Gale- At the 900m ran in and away from another runner when over racing.


Race 4: ENSBEY ELECTRICAL Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1350 metres

Go Millo- Approaching the 200m point when taking a run to the inside of SIR BULLEE had to check his mount and lost ground when the rider of SIR BULLEE elected to shift inward at that point.

Fish On- Tightened for room at the start.

Sir Bullee- Approaching the 1200m point shifted in when insufficiently clear of MISHANI PHAROAH taking that runner inward onto MANDALONG NERO which was taken onto AIRIT which had to be severely checked at that point losing its rightful running. Appr Jky A Donald’s licence to ride in races was subsequently suspended for Careless Riding under the provisions of AR131(a) for a period of 14 days to commence on the 3rd of January up to and including the 16th of January 2023. Appr Jky Donald was advised of her right to a review.

Leaving the 200m point shifted in when insufficiently clear resulting in the rider of GO MILLO Appr Jky L Sykes having to check his mount losing ground. Appr Jky A Donald licence to ride in races was subsequently suspended for Careless Riding under the provisions of AR131(a) for a period of 12 days to commence on the 3rd of January up to and including the 16th of January 2023 allowing her to resume race riding on the 17th of January 2023. Appr Jky A Donald was made aware of her right to a review in relation to this matter.

Grandioso- Tightened for room at the start.

Zeitakuna- Improved off the heels of AIRIT and restrained when shifting out.

Airit- Approaching the 1200m point was bumped by a runner to its outside was severely checked and lost its rightful running.

Mandalong Nero- Approaching the 1200m was forced inward by the runner to the outside MISHANI PHAROAH which in turn was taken onto AIRIT.

Buin Road- Raced keenly when crossing at the 1250m point.

Knowitall Jack (NZ)- When leaving the 1200m point shifted in slightly at that point before being corrected by the rider.

Gryllus (NZ)- Approaching the 1200m point went amiss in its action and was retired from the race. An immediate veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a shoulder injury. The horse was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds. Post-mortem samples were taken for analysis.

Kohiko- Hung during the majority of the event.

Mishani Pharoah- When approaching the 1200m point was forced inward by the runner to its outside (SIR BULLEE) and as a result was taken onto MANDALONG NERO.


Race 5: TREVOR SCHROOL MEMORIAL MAGIC MILLIONS COUNTRY CUP QUALIFIER OPEN Hand 1200 metres

The Start of Race 5 was delayed allowing the attending Veterinarian to attend to GRYLLIS from the previous event.

Hodgson- Began awkward and made contact with the inside barrier gate on jumping.

Moscini- Bumped another runner at the start.

Office Jim- Bumped MOSCINI at the start.

Trump Me- Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Charged – Slow to begin, then raced keenly during the early stages of the event. Raced wide for the majority of the event from the 1000m point. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.


Race 6: PSP VIDEO - HAPPY NEW YEAR Class 2 Plate 1500 metres

Conismo- Raced wide early stages then began to race keenly during the middle stages of the event.

Rip City- Slow to begin.

Harmony Nation- Dropped back during the early stages and raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Jky N Fazackerley reported to Stewards that shortly after the start he lost his near side iron and as a result he was unable to be competitive during the majority of the event. Raced wide over the final stages of the event.

Venomous- Ran at the tail of the field for the majority of the event. Ran wide during the middle stages.

Enchanted Reign- Slow to begin.

Extassy- Travelled wide for the majority of the event.

Shadie Milly- Raced keenly during the early stages then proceeded to race wide for the majority of the event.

Race 7: TREVOR LOCKE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 2000 metres

Tea Leaves- Began awkwardly and bumped WHISTLE HOFF shortly after the start. Was bumped by another runner when leaving the 200m point in the home straight.

Guts 'N' Glory- Held up for a run entering the home straight.

Lucamour- Began awkwardly and bumped BOULT at the start.

Pennyworth- Bumped by another runner at the start. Raced keenly during the early stages of the event. Leaving the 200m point shifted out to improve and as a result bumped TEA LEAVES. Stewards under the provisions of AR131(a) reprimanded Appr E Lang for shifting out when not sufficiently clear as a result of the incident.

Mojo Baby- Raced wide during the middle stages of the event.

Chayse 'N' Noah (NZ)- Raced wide during the middle stages.

Whistle Hoff- Bumped PENNYWORTH at the start.

Boult- Bumped by LUCAMOUR at the start.

Recall Events- Raced wide with no cover during the early stages of the event.
