GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 9, No. 11 AQUARIUS – A. Bakos +1kg (55kg)
 
When Jockey L. Miller was indisposed due to illness and Apprentice N. Olzard was indisposed due to personal reasons, Stewards permitted replacement riders as per the Stewards race-day summary. Jockey Miller was advised he requires a medical clearance prior to racing again.
 
As Apprentice T. Orr and Apprentice A. Donald were erroneously declared in races 2 and 4, rider replacement were permitted as per the Stewards race-day summary.
 
When Jockey J. Huxtable became ill and required transport to hospital following Race 4, rider replacements were permitted as per Stewards race-day summary.  
 
 
Race 1: PUNT123.BET QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (800m)
 
MISS DE BLAAS – Required farrier attention after dislodging a near-fore plate prior to parading. Fractious in the barrier prior to the start being effected and subsequently lost ground. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Apprentice R. Thorburn could offer no explanation for the performance, despite that he felt his mount had raced flatly throughout the event.  
 
I AM THOR – As J. Huxtable was delayed arriving on course due to transport difficulties, Stewards permitted J. Stanley to be substituted as rider of the gelding. Slow into stride before being crowded between runners.
 
SAY WHEN SUTTY – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Jockey G. Cartwright advised that her mount had been inclined to hang-out in the early and middle stages.
 
CRAIGLEA THERA – Shifted to the inside of heels leaving the 200m.
 
MISHANI TEMPTATION – Shifted in on jumping. Shifted wider around heels to improve passing the 200m.
 
 
Race 2: PUNT123.BET QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE (800m)
 
ALLDABURGERS – Bumped on jumping. Blundered approaching the 600m.
 
CODED DRAGON – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
HE'S A WEAPON – Began awkwardly, shifted in, and bumped.
 
HIT THE BUTTON – Slow to begin before being shifted out away from heels soon after the start. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
HORRIBLE HANK – Bumped on jumping. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
I'M ZAC – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
MISHANI HUNTER – Stewards approved Jockey B. Loy to replace Apprentice T. Orr to be declared the replacement rider due to miscommunication issues. B. Loy was permitted to ride 0.5kg over the allotted weight due to the late notice of the ride, and the specific circumstances. Stewards reprimanded Jockey B. Loy reprimanded under AR190(3). Bumped on jumping, shifted in abruptly and bumped again. Raced greenly in the early stages. Improved onto heels passing the 500m and again passing the 400m having to be steadied on both occasions. Improved onto heels passing the 200m when attempting to obtain clear running and obliged to be eased and alter course.  
 
SMART INTENT- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ROCKY BLONDE – Laid in passing the 500m. On returning to scale, Jockey C. Whiteley advised that enroute to the barrier his mount’s head had struck him in the face and damaged a dental plate. Jockey C. Whiteley was examined by QAS officers and deemed fit to fulfill his remaining engagements. Jockey Whiteley was reminded to advise officials of such injury prior to the race in similar circumstances.
 
SHE AIN'T SWEET – Bumped soon after the start.
 
SHAKEN MARTINI – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
BACK SEAT CUDDLES – Began awkwardly, shifted in, and bumped.
 
Following the running of this event the racing surface was upgraded to a Good 3.
 
 
Race 3: PUNT123.BET MAIDEN HANDICAP   (1350m)
 
AUSSIE TURBO (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped. Made contact with BURDEKIN BOY passing the 1000m and again approaching the 900m. Shifted in when not fully clear of BATTALION leaving the 900m, who was obliged to restrain between AUSSIE TURBO (NZ) and the running rail. Jockey B. Loy was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident.
 
BURDEKIN BOY- Raced keenly down the back straight. Made contact with AUSSIE TURBO (NZ) passing the 1000m and again approaching the 900m.
 
MAKIN' STATEMENTS – Raced keenly down the back straight. Commenced to over-race approaching the 900m and continued to do so for some distance when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BATTALION (NZ) – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Obliged to restrain from heels leaving the 900m when tightened onto the running rail by AUSSIE TURBO (NZ).
 
THE NAKED LADY – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
COSMIC IMAGE – Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start.
 
APPROVAL – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor cough. Apprentice A. Donald was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the poor performance. Trainer R. Lipp advised connections would consider the gelding’s immediate racing future.
 
GEEZ LOUISE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
SUNCRAFT – Fractious in the barriers and became cast. The mare was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:05pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, all monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 1:05pm:
 
6 cents in the dollar for the win
12 cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
13 cents in the dollar for 2nd place
10 cents in the dollar for 3rd place
 
Trainer P. Kalinowski was advised the mare would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to start in a race again.
 
TIME FOR JACK – As Apprentice S. Willis was delayed arriving on course due to transport difficulties, Stewards permitted Apprentice R. Thorburn to be substituted as rider of the gelding. Bumped on jumping.
 
 
Race 4: PUNT123.BET MAIDEN HANDICAP   (1350m)
 
ALIGN THE PLANETS – Began awkwardly.
 
CALM BUCKLE (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. Improved onto the heels of TANTALISING which commenced to give ground abruptly and shifted in onto the running of LICENSE TO THRILL whilst being restrained approaching the 700m. Stewards noted that although Jockey Tilley was being mindful of TANTALISING which was giving ground rapidly, they nonetheless advised Jockey Tilley to exercise greater care and not shift his line when obliged to restrain in similar circumstances.
 
MILLIE THE MOUCHER – Began awkwardly. Crowded soon after the start. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
ALL WIN – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly down the back straight. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
TANTALISING – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Commenced to give ground abruptly from the 800m and finished significantly tailed off.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Nonetheless, given the circumstances in the manner in which the gelding gave ground, Stewards advised Trainer C. White that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to barrier trialling to Stewards’ satisfaction prior to racing again.
 
BUBBLES 'N' SPEAK – Crowded soon after the start and obliged to ease off heels. Momentarily crowded approaching the 600m when laying out.
 
TOO MUCH MAKEUP – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
NOAH – Began awkwardly.
 
RUBY LOVES CARROTS – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
SUPIDOCHARGED – Became awkwardly placed on heels and was obliged to momentarily ease passing the 1300m.
 
LICENCE TO THRILL – Laid in down the back straight. Checked off heels approaching the 600m when CALM BUCKLE (NZ) shifted in.
 
 
Race 5: PUNT123.BET RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1200m)
 
 
BY BY MUSIC – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the back straight. Again commenced to race keenly on heels near the 700m. Bumped with STRYKING PRINCESS passing the 600m. Obliged to be shifted out and around heels approaching the 200m to obtain clear running.
 
THIEF BY NIGHT – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice C. Sutherland was reminded of his obligations under AR131(b) and to ride his mounts out fully to the finish.
 
ROMAN HEIR – Slow to begin. Raced keenly passing the 1000m. Taken marginally wider approaching the winning post when another runner commenced to lay out.  
 
DUCHESS OF MILAN – Buffeted on jumping. Raced keenly on heels when laying out near the 600m.
 
ROTHERO ESSGEE – Momentarily crowded soon after the start. Raced keenly for a short distance passing the 1100m. Obliged to be shifted to the inside of heels approaching the 200m to obtain clear running.
 
BANKROLL BABE – Began awkwardly and bumped. Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start. Held up for clear running for a short distance on entering the home straight.
 
GERTANIE – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.  
 
STRYKING PRINCESS – Bumped passing the 600m. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Apprentice A. Graham advised that, in her opinion, her mount had endured a hard run which was a telling factor in its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SOOZIE MAREE – Shifted in and bumped on jumping.
 
LYNDALL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.  
 
 
Race 6: PUNT123.BET RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1200m)
 
BOOMI'S BUDDY – Laid out approaching the 600m and became momentarily awkward on heels. Shifted in away form another runner near the 250m and continued to lay in under pressure down the running.
 
DARKENED DESTINY – Blundered badly on jumping. On returning to scale Jockey A. Bakos advised that she had some minor soreness in her right foot after contacting the barrier on jumping.
 
BRIGHT REALM – Bumped on jumping. Bumped approaching the 100m.
 
ARTIE'S DESTINY – Bumped on jumping.
 
CRYPTIC VERSE – Began awkwardly and bumped. Momentarily crowded passing the 1100m. Shifted out and bumped approaching the 100m.
 
EPAUVESCENT – Bumped on jumping.
 
UPTOWN LUCY – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
INSTANT RESPONSE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
MISHANI PHAROAH – Raced keenly passing the 1100m. Laid in and became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 900m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 7: PUNT123.BET BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP  (1200m)
 
SCENIC RIM – Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
MASTERPLAN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination having raced at Ipswich on Saturday, 9 March 2024 and passed fit to start. Trainer B. Stewart was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Stewards noted Mr Stewart’s record in relation to the rule as well, the reasons tendered as well as the extremely late notification of rider.
 
DEEP FIRE – Jockey E. Chaves advised that, in his opinion, his mount have not have appreciated the firmer track surface.
 
MISHANI KINGDOM – Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 1100m. Approaching the 200m, became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels before being shifted in and ridden onto heels obliging its rider to restrain and shift out abruptly. Apprentice T. Orr was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident and advised to ensure he does not unduly shift excessive ground in similar circumstances.
 
RECANATI – Raced keenly in the middle stages when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover.
 
ANARCHY – Laid out passing the 600m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight, shifting excessively over the concluding stages. Jockey Stanley was advised to exercise greater care and to stop and straighten his mounts when they commenced to shift ground in similar circumstances.
 
GOTEBO – Raced keenly near the 800m. Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Jockey A. Allen expressed disappointment with the performance, stating that the gelding came under pressure under 600m, however responded well when entering the home straight, however proved very reluctant to improve to the inside of runners thereafter. Trainer P. Wallace advised the gelding had pulled up well following the event, however connections would now give consideration would be given to its immediate racing future.
 
CHARGED – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.  
 
STORMTROOPER – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
HUSSONHOFF – Shifted out away from heels leaving the 200m and again near the 150m to obtain clear running.
 
AWESOME AUDREY – Momentarily steadied leaving the 200m when MISHANI KINGDOM shifted in.
 
 
Race 8: PUNT123.BET BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1500m)
 
LEGEND OF ZORRO – Slow into stride. Apprentice T Noble was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(d) in that she did unnecessarily slacken the pace in the back straight causing interference to several runners who were obliged to restrain. Became awkwardly placed on heels over the concluding stages when weakening. Stewards advised Apprentice Noble to exercise greater care in ensuring she does not put her mounts onto heels whilst placing her mounts under pressure.
 
PASSIONATE REBEL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
FRAPPES – Crowded passing the 1400m. Raced keenly down the back straight and commenced to over-race from the 1100m when the pace slackened notably.
 
JUNGLE FEVER – Raced keenly from the 1100m and obliged to restrain when the pace slackened notably.
 
SPIRIT OF GIVING – Raced keenly from the 1100m and obliged to restrain from heels when the pace slackened notably.
 
ALERT AND READY – Raced keenly from the 1100m and obliged to restrain when the pace slackened notably.
 
MARCADA – Raced keenly from the 1100m and obliged to restrain from heels when the pace slackened notably.
 
 
Race 9: PUNT123.BET RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1500m)
 
BRINGME – Slow to begin and lost ground.
 
SARODEC – Raced keenly passing the 1000m and obliged to be shifted wider. Continued to race keenly and improved becoming momentarily awkwardly placed on heels as result.
 
QUEEN LUWELL – Laid out passing the 1300m for a short distance.
 
HILLSIDE ROAD – Slow to begin and lost ground.
 
LONERGY – Slow to begin and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages and was shifted wider. Raced wide and without cover throughout event. Taken extremely wide entering the home straight.  
 
RODEO LEGEND – Raced keenly near the 1000m when being restrained into a midfield position whilst racing wide. Raced wide and without cover throughout event.
 
 
Race 10: PUNT123.BET RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1500m)
 
MORDECAI – Slow into stride.
 
BUMP'N'RUN – Tightened for room and restrained from heels between the 1200m and 1150m when DRAGON SONG shifted in for several strides.
 
DRAGON SONG – Shifted in passing the 1200m tightening the running of BUMP’N’RUN which was obliged to restrain for several strides. Jockey A. Allen was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident.
 
LYNCHED – Over-raced on heels passing the 1200m and obliged to be shifted wider. Raced wide and without cover throughout event.
 
GIVE ME SOMETHING – Shifted in abruptly over the concluding stages whilst under pressure.
 
SALT AND PEPPER – Slow into stride. Raced keenly passing the 900m.
