WARWICK TURF CLUB

SUNDAY 31 AUGUST 2025

WEATHER – Fine    TRACK RATING – Good 3           RAIL – True

OFFICIALS

Chairman of Stewards – C Warren
Stewards – J Childs, W Glass & D MacDonald

GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweights at todays meeting:

Race 3- Jockey C Bayliss +1kg

App M Goering and Jockey L Dempsey advised they were unable to fulfil their engagements and were advised medical clearances would be required prior to their race riding again.

RACE 1: BILEENA STUD QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 800m

ALL ABOUT PEEJAY- Bumped on jumping.

I'M NELSON- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly near the 600m. Jockey A Allen was fined $200 under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out over the final two strides of the event. In considering the matter Stewards noted I’M NELSON had attained outright 3rd placing however, given the head margin between 3rd and 4th placing, Jockey Allens lack of vigor over those final stages was determined to be below the expected standard.

SEAMS LOGICAL- Laid out near the 700m before shifting back and marginally crowding MISHANI STELLER for a short distance near the 600m. Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid out under pressure down the running shifting out abruptly approaching the winning post.

TEAJAY- Laid in under pressure down the running, becoming awkwardly placed on heels near the 50m and having to be steadied. Raced wide for the majority.

TROOPER SAM- Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Raced greenly in the home straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey J Molloy pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(b) in that he did fail to ride his mount out over the final 3 strides of the event, a fact which Stewards determined had cost the gelding 3rd placing when considering the head margin between TROOPER SAM (4th) and I’M NELSON (3rd). Jockey Molloys license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 12 days to commence 7 September up to and including 18 September 2025. Jockey Molloy was advised of his right to an appeal.

CANCELLED- Began very awkwardly and bumped.

CHEEKY'S TIME- Laid in under pressure down the running. Shifted out away from another runner approaching the winning post.

I'LLTELLYOUAFTER- Began awkwardly and bumped. Laid out under pressure down the running momentarily hampering TEAJAY which was laying in near the 50m. App B Baker was advised to exercise greater care and to stop and straighten her mounts sooner in similar circumstances.

MISHANI STELLER- Marginally crowded near the 600m.

RACE 2: CLEANING & CATERING WARWICK BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP        800m

KAT CHINNA- Momentarily steadied from heels near the 700m.

LOADED GUN- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped heavily. Laid out rounding the home turn.

MISHANI HITMAN- Shifted in and away from heels on jumping and bumped soon after. Forced wider approaching the 600m. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.

AYE EYE BOOM- Obliged to shift out away from heels near the 700m.

HOKUSAI- Hung-out near the 700m hampering several runners. Laid out under pressure down the running proving somewhat difficult to ride out. Trainer C Johnstone was advised a warning would be placed on the mares racing manners as a result.

LEICA PHERRARI- Tightened and buffeted soon after the start and lost ground. Crowded and forced wider approaching the 600m. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m, becoming momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 50m. Raced wide for the majority. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. App C Baker advised that the early interference incurred by her mount had been to the mares overall detriment in the run.

SUTHERLAND- Began awkwardly and shifted in having to be corrected. Laid in under pressure down the running. When queried regarding the performance Trainer A Park advised that, in her opinion, the mare was underrepresented in the market considering winning performances in the two most recent starts and only a marginal step up in class for todays event.

MARATHIA- Bumped heavily on jumping before shifting out and being buffeted. Shifted out away from heels near approaching the 600m. Lost a near-side hind plate in running.

RACE 3: THE RURAL RACING PROJECT CLASS 3 HANDICAP         1200m

NEW HAMPSHIRE- Began awkwardly.

SUPER QUICK- Began awkwardly and bumped. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

I STOLE IT- Jockey J Lloyd pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in that passing the 1000m he did permit his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of PUREZZA obliging that runner to be steadied and shifted in, crowding LADY ZAYDI for several strides, before having to be further steadied from heels and lose its rightful running. Jockey Lloyds license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 10days to commence 8 September up to and including 17 September 2025. Jockey Lloyd was advised of his right to an appeal. Laid out under pressure down the running, inconveniencing LADY ZAYDI near the 250m. Jockey Lloyd was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. In considering the matter Stewards noted that LADY ZAYDI had not secured the narrow run to the outside of I STOLE IT at the time of that runners shift, but that Jockey Lloyd had nonetheless been careless in permitting his mount to shift excessively in the incident.

SUJEED- Crowded and bumped on jumping. Laid out and bumped near the 900m.

PUREZZA- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped. Laid out near the 900m. Laid in during the early stages of the home straight.

HEADLINE LEGEND- Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

WANT TO BE PROUD- Held up for clear running from the 400m until the early stages of the home straight.

FENDBAR- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly for some distance after being crossed near the 1000m. Laid in under pressure down the running proving somewhat difficult to ride out. Trainer T Dougall was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding as a result.

RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS- Became awkwardly placed on heels near the 900m having to be steadied. Improved onto heels near the 300m.

KAYTEE WISDOM- Raced keenly in the back straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

CRYPT DE PIN- Raced wide for the majority.

FOREBEARS- Raced wide until the 600m. Obliged to steady from heels passing the 100m when FENDBAR laid in despite the efforts of its rider.

App Lentons license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 14days to commence 1 September up to and including 14 September 2025.
