GENERAL
As App R Thorburn and Jockey J Molloy were late arriving on course due to transport difficulties, rider replacements were made as per Stewards race-day summary.
RACE 1: GASKE PRESSURE WASHING MAIDEN PLATE 1100m
HEZA ROMEO- Laid out near the 700m.
MISHANI HERCULES- Raced wide in the early stages.
SOLAR SURFER- A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of tying up.
SOUTHAMPTON NICCO- Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. App C Krahnen advised that her mount had laid in for the majority. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
LULU A NATURAL- Began awkwardly.
SHAKEN MARTINI- Began awkwardly.
UP OVER'N GONE- Raced wide for the majority. Laid out near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a very poor post-race recovery. Trainer K Kemp was advised gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
ICEY- Momentarily awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 600m.
RACE 2: TREVOR LOCKE MEMORIAL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350m
ASTERN EFFORT- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped. Over-raced near the 110m when being restrained in an effort to obtain cover. Raced wide without cover throughout.
MISHANI COMRADE- Began awkwardly and shifted out. Became momentarily awkward in its action after laying in leaving the 200m. Laid out over the concluding stages.
MR DEMOCRAT- Buffeted on jumping. Over-raced in the back straight.
OKANUI- Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
ROYAL DIPLOMAT- Bumped on jumping. Over-raced in the back straight, having to be steadied from heels near the 800m. Laid in under pressure down the running proving somewhat difficult to ride out.
OUR BRAVE LINI- Crowded and became awkward placed on heels before shifting out and bumping on jumping.
PACIERA- Over-raced on heels near the 900m.
SHES A BELLE- Raced wide for the majority.
ZOUSAIN GIRL- Bumped on jumping, shifted in and became awkwardly placed on heels having to be momentarily steadied. Again, became awkwardly placed on heels and was steadied soon after. Raced keenly in the back straight. Jockey C Whiteley advised that after being hampered in the early stages he had been obliged to position his mount further back in the field than was preferable.
GAIRLOCH- Began awkwardly.
RACE 3: SANDY CREEK PUB IT'S JOELS BIRTHDAY BASH! MAIDEN PLATE 1500m
JIMMY PLOD- Began awkwardly and bumped.
LOVE TO BE PROUD- Raced keenly in the back straight. Laid in under pressure.
MONTEVECCHIO- Became very awkwardly placed on heels and blundered on jumping, shifted in and away abruptly becoming very unbalanced.
WESTERN AIR- Checked from heels when crowded on jumping.
PREACHABULL- Raced keenly in the back straight.
PROUD MISS- Raced wide for the majority.
WANNA KISS- Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced keenly in the back straight. Momentarily awkwardly on heels near the 900m. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
SHOWBIZ VEGA- Raced keenly and laid out approaching the 1000m. App O Kendal advised that her saddle shifted forward near the 1300m, placing her at a disadvantage from that point.
RACE 4: HYNES NEWSAGENCY / W. CAREY & SONS MEATS BENCHMARK 60HANDICAP 1500m
SPOOKY SPIRIT- Bumped on jumping.
FIRE AND LIGHT- Slow into stride.
LUCONI- Slow to begin.
BAVARIAN LADY- Bumped and became unbalanced on jumping.
BLUE CHIP GIRL- Bumped on jumping.
TAKUNAI- Raced keenly near the 1200m when crossed. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
ARIAT- Laid in under pressure down the running having to be corrected leaving the 200m and again approaching the 100m and continued laying in over the concluding stages.
SOUTH SEA- Raced keenly in the back straight.
KNOWITALL FRANK- Began awkwardly and bumped.
TOBA- Raced wide before being pressed forward near the 1000m and settling into a leading position along the inside running rail near the 900m.
ROYAL CHARGE- Bumped, shifted in and bumped again. Raced keenly when crossed near the 1200m and raced keenly in the back straight.
RACE 5: PICKLEBET GET YOUR PICKLE ON CLASS 3 PLATE 1200m
KEEPMEINTHELOPE- Bumped on jumping.
REACHOVER- Slow into stride before becoming awkwardly placed on heels.
AIRSWING- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
MISHANI CROWN- Began awkwardly.
SHOUTS ALL DAY- Took the home turn wide. Laid in under pressure down the running.
CALL OUT- Bumped on jumping. Laid out under pressure down the running before being corrected leaving the 100m.
MISSY'S READY- Raced wide for the majority.
THROW ONE IN- Hung out from the 700m until entering the home straight. Trainer S Matthews was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing manners.
RACE 6: TREVOR SCHOORL MEMORIAL MAGIC MILLIONS COUNTRY CUP QUAL OPEN HANDICAP 1200m
NED'S GULLY- Bumped near the 700m. Raced wide for the majority.
SECRET PLAN- Momentarily disappointed for a run approaching the 200m.
EARL OF BANTRY- Fractious in the barrier, became cast behind and broke the bridle. Was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4:13pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 4:13pm:
14cents in the dollar for the win
10cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
14cents in the dollar for 2nd place
15cents in the dollar for 3rd place
A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Trainer C Maher was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
MISHANI RENEGADE- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the back straight.
BIG BOY GEORGE- Declared a late scratching at 4:11pm after refusing to load. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 4:11pm:
26cents in the dollar for the win
20cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
25cents in the dollar for 2nd place
27cents in the dollar for 3rd place
Trainer M Currie was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
THIS IS ONE- Raced keenly when crossed leaving the 1000m.
ADALIE- Bumped on jumping.
INNERVISIONS- Raced keenly when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover leaving the 1000m.
SLEEPY JOE- Raced keenly in the back straight. Shifted out and bumped near the 700m.
RACE 7: ENSBEY ELECTRICAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1200m
BRAVE COWBOY BILL- Improved onto heels and clipped heels, blundering near the 700m and raced ungenerously for some distance after, tightening the running of GERRY’S PICK. Trainer O Cairns was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners as a result.
LOVE TO ALL- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
EJAY'S FIREFOX- Began awkwardly and bumped.
GERRY'S PICK- Tightened and became very awkwardly placed on heels having to be restrained approaching the 600m.
BLACK 'N' DEADLY- Bumped on jumping.
MISHANI BREEZE- Bumped and was slow into stride. Bumped near the 200m, laid in thereafter and was held up on heels over the concluding stages.
OH PRETTY EMMA- Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
LITTLE VAIN- Laid in under pressure down the running and bumped near the 200m before being corrected. Raced wide for the majority.
RACE 8: MAYDAN LIVESTOCK TRANSPORT / FREESTONE FEEDLOT BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 2000m
LET FLY- Severely checked from heels near the 1500m. Held up on heels near the 300m, having to be steadied.
JENNI MOREESE- Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 1700m. Difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
UP AND COMER- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped.
SECURITY ADVISOR- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
WHATJEUDOIN'- Restrained from heels near the 1500m.
QUALITY MISS- Commenced to race ungenerously near the 1500m and when restrained lost ground rapidly seriously inconveniencing LET FLY.
FLYING ROTHE- Bumped near the 1700m. Took the 1600m crossing awkwardly. Restrained from heels near the 1500m.
