GENERAL
As Jockey G. Geran was suspended and not riding at todays meeting and Jockey J. Bayliss was injured, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards summary. Jockey Bayliss was advised that he would require a medical clearance prior to next riding.
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:
Race 2 – SUBDUE – J. Stanley +0.5kg (54.5kg)
Jockey R. O’Connell was reminded of his obligations under AR128(1) for failing to be on course 45minutes prior to his riding time.
RACE 1:STAR REALITY QUEENSLAND QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350M
The start of this race was delayed approximately 2 minutes when LEICA LEMON proved difficult to load. Trainer G. Cornish was advised that the gelding would have a warning placed on it for being difficult to load.
ALWAYS DELIVERS – Bumped on jumping. Near the 400m, shifted out and bumped ZOU ZOU SHARGUSA.
FUNDORA – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in over the concluding stages.
KING COBAMA – Taken in by OVER THE LOUVRE near the 900m.
LEICA LEMON – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground (3L). Trainer G. Cornish was advised that the gelding would have a warning placed on it for being slow to begin.
OVEROPTOMYSTIC – Approaching the 200m, whilst laying in, had to be steadied and shifted out into clear running. Continued to lay in over the concluding stages.
PRINCE PIER – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m, steadied and contacted the rail when tightened inside KING COMBA, which was taken in by OVER THE LOUVRE (K. Zechner) which shifted in when not clear. Jockey K. Zechner was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester advised it was his instructions to find a position with cover, where the gelding travelled comfortably, however when placed under pressure, failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing.
LOVE THE GOVERNESS – Bumped on jumping. Laid out in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority.
SWEEDISH QUEEN – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
ZOU ZOU SHARGUSA – Near the 400m, bumped and became unbalanced when ALWAYS DELIVERS shifted out.
Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good 4 at 12:37pm.
RACE 2:CONDAMINE ACCOUNTANTS CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1350M
FORTUNEER – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
KEIKO SAY – Began awkwardly. Momentarily steadied near the 800m from the heels of FORTUNEER (A. Heinrich) which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice A. Heinrich was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
COOL MUSIC – Raced wide without cover from the 800m.
FOR BETTER – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey D. Boche reported the mare didn’t appreciate the addition of blinkers today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
COINCIDE – Raced keenly in the middle stages and near the 800m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 200m.
SUBDUE – Began awkwardly and was restrained shortly after the start to obtain a rearward position closer to the rails.
RACE 3:WARWICK SAND & GRAVEL SUPPLIES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200M
ROYAL DRAMA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
BEAR OIL – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor advised the gelding was required to do work in the early stages to obtain a forward position and when placed under pressure in the home straight, raced greenly and didn’t finish the race off as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
TEXAS TERRIER – Slow into stride. Jockey P. Hamblin reported that the gelding raced very greenly and will derive benefit from further racing. Trainer R. Hilton was advised that a warning would be placed on the performance of the gelding.
MARKHAM MISS – Bumped by VALOUR VICTORIOUS near the 400m.
DUSZIO – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m, checked between MARKHAM MISS which shifted out marginally and MADAM GRISELDA which shifted in marginally. Apprentice A. McColm could offer no explanation for the performance. Trainer N. Owen was advised a warning would be placed on the performance of the mare.
BRAVE LIKE LILY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to a previous eye ulcer following it last start and was cleared to start. Trainer’s representative was strongly reminded of their obligations under AR105 to report such conditions to Stewards. Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
VALOUR VICTORIOUS – Slow into stride. Near the 500m, improved onto the heels of the weakening TEXAS TERRIER and was obliged to steady and shift out. Near the 400m bumped with MARKHAM MISS.
MADAM GRISELDA – Laid in over the concluding stages.
RACE 4:PICKLEBET GET YOUR PICKLE ON BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 800M
The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes when JADA ROSE refused to load. Subsequently the filly was declared a late scratching at 2:24pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on JADA ROSE be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st place – ZAVEGA – 6c the win, 9c the place
2nd place – DIAMANTINA ROSE – 6c the place
3rd place – I AM A WINNER – 9c the place
Trainer G. Cornish was advised that the filly will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to next racing.
I AM A WINNER – As Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor was unable to make the weight, he was replaced by Jockey M. Murphy as the rider of the gelding. Subsequently at an inquiry Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor put forward to the Stewards that he was unable to make the weight due to him having insufficient gear to carry the required 63kg. Due to these circumstances he was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR127(1) for failing to fulfil a riding engagement. Slow to begin. Shifted out to improve near 500m.
BAD FOREST – Blundered on jumping and became unbalanced. Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 600m, shifted in abruptly and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of TURN UP THE MUSIC.
DIAMANTINA ROSE – Shifted out near the 200m. Approaching the 100m, Apprentice A. McColm had some difficulty changing his whip to his right hand. Shifted out under pressure near the 50m, obliging Apprentice McColm to straighten his mount. Apprentice A. McColm with Apprentice coach Robbie Fradd was shown footage of the home straight whereby he was reminded of his obligations to stop riding and straighten when shifting ground.
MISTER TUDOR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced at Toowoomba 2/5/26 and was cleared to start. Raced wide throughout.
TURN UP THE MUSIC – Laid in leaving the 600m and raced in restricted room between FANCI FLEUR and ANOTHER VEUVE.
CHAYSE'N'SCOTTY – Slow to begin.
PRUCIA – Raced wide throughout.
BARBRA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having not raced for an extended period and was cleared to start. Approaching the 200m, momentarily steadied when close to the heels of DIAMANTINA ROSE which was shifting ground under pressure.
ANOTHER VEUVE – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room leaving the 600m.
FANCI FLEUR – Laid in leaving the 600m.
RACE 5:WORKIN WEAR QUEENSLAND FILLIES & MARES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1200M
DIVAS REIGN – After being loaded, made contact with the front of the barriers, which sprung open. DIVAS REIGN then walked out of the barriers before being restrained by the rider. Subsequently the mare underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. Approaching the 150m, when making quick ground, was steadied and shifted out into clear running. Apprentice S. Bailey was reminded of her obligations under AR131(b) to fully ride her mounts out to the finish line.
DO WHAT I SAY – Began awkwardly.
EMBOLDEN – Bumped on jumping.
ROWDASH – Held up at the heels of the weakening SHAMROCK’S SECRET from the 600m until the 400m.
LUKEY BLUE – Bumped on jumping.
ALL TOO FOXY – Raced wide with cover throughout.
SHAMROCK'S SECRET – Commenced to weaken from the 600m and was eased down from the 400m. Jockey C. Meehan reported the mare felt uncomfortable in its action from the 600m and for this reason he eased it down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J. Hepworth was advised that the mare will be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
UCELLE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
BEACHSIDE BABE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
DUCHESS BREE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced at Ipswich 4/5/26 and was cleared to start.
RACE 6:MAXWELL LANCASTER SOLICITORS COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1200M
The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes when PAPARACHA became fractious and cast in the barriers. The gelding was removed from the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 3:47pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on PAPARACHA be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st place – ROYAL BOMBAIDER – 5c the win, 3c the place
2nd place – THIEM – 6c the place
3rd place – CONEY ISLAND BABY – 4c the place
Trainer A. Campton was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for its barrier manners.
MISTER SELFIE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 700m, steadied when in restricted room to the inside of HERECOMESANTORINI and close to the heels of BABALOLA.
CONEY ISLAND BABY – Passing the 800m, steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of SPIRITOFTHEWORLD.
ROYAL BOMBADIER – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
SOUTHAMPTON NICCO – Bumped on jumping.
SPIRITOFTHEWORLD – Shifted in shortly after the start.
THIEM – Slow to begin and was bumped by JEROME. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
HERECOMESANTORINI – Shifted out at the start and bumped SOUTHAMPTON NICCO.
BABALOLA – Approaching the 150m, momentarily crowded whilst weakening.
MY SICADA – Slow into stride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Banks was advised that the gelding would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
STYLISH JOKER – Taken out at the start and raced in restricted room for a short distance. Near the 650m, made contact with the running rail and as a result became unbalanced. Held up approaching the home turn.
ONE MORE THING – Fractious in the barrier prior to the start. Trainer B. Wiblen was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for its barrier manners. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
JEROME – Bumped on jumping and was then steadied from the heels of SPIRITOFTHEWORLD shortly after the start. Near the 650m, was awkwardly placed and became unbalanced when close to the heels of STYLISH JOKER which became unbalanced. Momentarily held up near the 400m.
RACE 7:SJG PLUMBING & DRAINAGE RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1500M
ALBANIAN BEAUTY – Slow to begin. Held up approaching the home turn.
ODIN'S MOUNT –Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
TORTILLA – Bumped on jumping.
BUMP'N'RUN – Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 1000m had to be steadied after improving onto heels.
TRUSTY BANDIT – Slow to begin. Approaching the 400m, when attempting a narrow run between BEAUTIFUL JO and YOU AND I, was obliged to alter course and shift in to obtain clear running.
WEST CORK – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers at the request of the rider and was cleared to start. Shifted out at the start and bumped TORTILLA. Raced keenly with its head up in the early and middle stages.
CHANCE WITH WOLVE – Slow to begin (2L). Raced keenly in the early stages.
HELL FOLLOWS – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
BEAUTIFUL JO – Raced wide for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer P. Wallace was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare for its performance.
FOR THE BRAVE – Held up approaching the home turn.
LIFT'N'MEHIGHER – After being caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward to obtain the leading position near the 1100m.
