GENERAL
 
Trainer T. Pascoe was severely reprimanded under LR36(6) for failing to withdraw DIVINELLE engaged in Race 2 and 4. from Race 4 by the prescribed time.
 
Race 1 - SUB-ZERO AIR CONDITIONING INSTALLATION & SERVICES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP  800 M
 
MISHANI HONOUR – Began very awkwardly as a result rider J. Taylor made heavy contact with the left side gate.

READY AS BAM - Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
TROY BOY – Laid out under pressure in the straight.

PRINCESS NELLIE – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

XPLAIN THIS – Began awkwardly.

NIGHT MARKET – Began awkwardly and laid out rounding the home turn.

IRENOVA – Raced keenly in the early and middle stage. Inclined to lay out from the 600m until straightening.

KANNA KAMUI - Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced greenly under pressure in the straight.
 
DISCO DIAMOND – Slow to begin and then hampered between runners.

CAUTIONARY TAIL – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Unplaced $1.95 fav. Apprentice A. McColm reported that his mount wanted to hang in under pressure in the straight and was only fair in its overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards spoke with apprentice A. McColm for shifting ground in the straight, although his mount wanted to lay in, they were of the opinion he should have done more to stop and straighten.

MAKO (NZ) – Slow into stride.
 
POISED TYCOON – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages getting its head up on a number of occasions. Near the 800m was contacted and then eased from the heels of KOBAN (G. Geran) which had shifted in when not quite clear. G. Geran was advised to exercise care. Approaching the 200m was hampered and carried out slightly by KOBAN, which had shifted out abruptly before being corrected by its rider. 

THE HINDUSTAN (NZ) – Near the 700m improved up on the heels of SWEET PICKLES and was eased.
 
DIVINELLE – Laid out under pressure in the straight.

KOBAN - Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to settle outside the leader near the 800m. Approaching the 200m shifted out abruptly before being quickly corrected.
 
HEAVENLY ARTIST – Laid out rounding the home turn and under pressure in the straight.

SWEET PICKLES – Eased down from the 300m. Rider L. Tilley reported that his mount wanted to hang and as a result he eased his mount down quickly in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer W. Kropp was advised a warning would be placed on SWEET PICKLES for its poor performance (24.56L).

Race 3 - SANDY CREEK PUB WARWICK CUP CALCUTTA FRI 9 OCT MAIDEN PLATE            1350 M
 
FOXY ARTIST – Began very awkwardly shifting out and making heavy contact with GLAMOUR CONNECTION. Raced keenly in the middle stages.

OKANUI – Began awkwardly. Improved performance. Trainer S. Kirkwood reported that the gelding had worked well since its first up run at Goondiwindi. He added that he was unable to find a suitable trial or jump out for OKANUI at the beginning of the preparation and so anticipated the gelding would derive benefit from racing and have a forward showing in today’s event. He further added that the tempo of the race suited his horse along with being able to settle further forward. Stewards noted his comments.

OLD WERMATONG – Hung out from passing the 500m and in the early part of the straight. Trainer M. Frappell was advised a warning was placed against the gelding for hanging out.
 
TESTY NIC – Slow to begin (2L). Near the 1100m was steadied after improving onto the heels of SWEEDISH QUEEN. Unplaced $1.85 fav. Rider B. Il’lssa reported that after being slow to begin he attempted to drive up to be as positive on the gelding as he could as he was instructed to settle in a handy position. He added that although he obtained clear running at the entrance to the straight his mount took time to build momentum but finished off well.

BELLE FRANCAIS – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for a majority of the event.

ELLOFABY – Approaching the 400m was steadied away from the heels of TESTY NIC (B. Il’lssa). Rider B. Il’lssa was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for shifting out when not clear.

GLAMOUR CONNECTION – Began very awkwardly, shifting in and making contact with FOXY ARTIST. Became under pressure from the 700m and raced greenly from this point. Eased down approaching the 200m. Rider K. Yoshida was at a loss to explain the poor performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Co-trainer C. Geran reported to Stewards it was the intention to retire the filly. Stewards noted his comments and advised him that if connections change their mind GLAMOUR CONNECTION will be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards for its poor performance. (33.26L).       

Race 4 - DAVID HYNES WTC THANKS YOU FOR 7 YEARS MAIDEN PLATE 1100 M

OVER THE LOUVRE – Began awkwardly and shifted out hampering CAUSE SHE’S MINE.

PRESSURE SWITCH – Slow to begin, then shifted in abruptly.

CAUSE SHE'S MINE – Hampered shortly after the start by OVER THE LOURVE, which had shifted out. Rider M. Savva reported that her mount raced greenly throughout the event.

GANCEDO – Apprentice W. Galloway reported that the mare was fractious in the gates and as a result, when the start was affected, he was slow to begin and settled further back than intended.
 
HEAD OF THE RIVER – Apprentice F. Sandkuhl reported that she was obliged to go at a tempo faster than she would have liked through the middle stages when MISHANI SENORITA had placed pressure on her through this stage of the event.

RUM AND BEER – Raced wide without cover for a majority of the event. Hung in from the 500m. Near the 350m, whilst hanging in raced close to the running rail and shifted out abruptly. Trainer J. Capewell was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for hanging in. Apprentice J. Emmerson reported her mount raced greenly throughout.
 
ROTHIRA – Approaching the 400m was checked from the heels of CAUSE SHE’S MINE, which when racing greenly was taken in by RUM AND BEER, which when hanging in shifted in (J. Emmerson). Apprentice J. Emmerson was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a). In assessing the incident, the racing manners of both RUM AND BEER and CAUSE SHE’S MINE were taken into consideration along with in the opinion of Stewards, J. Emmerson was able to do more to assist her fellow riders.    

Race 5 - JAMES COSTELLO WTC THANKS YOU FOR 29 YEARS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP              1500 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 mins to allow the blinkers of DRIALLE to be adjusted after arriving at the barriers.
 
DRIALLE – On arrival to the barriers had the blinkers refitted. Raced keenly in the middle stages of the event. Apprentice W. Galloway in the presence of senior rider B. Il’lssa was spoken to advisedly in relation to excessively slackening the tempo of his mount through the early stages. W. Galloway explained that after obtaining the lead he recognised he had established a margin on the bulk of the field and elected to restrain. He added that DRIALLE failed to come back and when he took a tighter hold the gelding quickly dropped the bit and came back underneath him. Steward noted his comments and although some minor interference was suffered by runners did not take the matter further noting W. Galloway’s riding experience.

HEAVENLY LOVE – Slow to begin.

KINGSLAND – Slow to begin.
 
HANG OUT – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay out throughout.

STANDLEE – Slow into stride. Shifted out rounding the home turn brushing EXPRESS STAR.
 
EXPRESS STAR- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Brushed by STANLEE rounding the home turn and was carried out slightly.
 
SO YOU CAN TORQUE - Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
KNEZE - Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 6 - MAURICE MONCKTON WTC THANKS YOU FOR 12 YEARS BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP    1200 M
 
GALWAY HUSSLER – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the straight.

ROTHGO – Began awkwardly.

HEROIC CHIEF - Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide without cover for a majority of the event. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
SIR MAURICE – Slow to begin.

MISS DE MEDICI – Wanted to lay in under pressure in the straight. Near the 200m hampered and became unbalanced when bumped by GALWAY HUSSLER (K. Barker). Apprentice K. Baker was reprimanded and advised to show far greater care when shifting ground.

BRECHEN – Slow to begin. Had some difficulty obtaining completely clear running at the entrance to the straight.

CRAIGLEA MERIDA – Rider M. Powell was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out over the concluding stages. In accessing penalty, Steward were not satisfied that his actions had prevented CRAIGLEA MERIDA finishing in a higher position.

Race 7 - PICKLEBET SPRINT SERIES HEAT RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP      1200 M
 
LITTLE VAIN – Slow to begin. Apprentice R. O’Connell was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the finish.

THUNDEROUS- Apprentice A. McColm was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip consecutively on one occasion prior to the 100m.
 
DECRYPT – Slow to  begin (2L). Passing the 100m was bumped and hampered by THE ANSWERMAN (M. Gray) which when racing greenly shifted out. M. Gray was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a).

I'M LUCKY TWO – Underwent a veterinary examination at the start for being fractious in the barriers. A small laceration on the gum was discovered and treated, subsequently the gelding was deemed suitable to race.
 
TERRITORY ASH – Eased down in the straight. Rider T. Marshal reported that the mare felt uncomfortable in its action and as a result he elected to ease his mount down over the concluding stages A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Co trainer A. Ross was advised that TERRITORY ASH was now suspended and will be required to official trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next engagement due to its poor performance. Margin 22.63L.
 
VESPER LYND – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

SALCHOW (NZ) – Slow to begin. Well supported throughout betting and performed below market expectations. Rider B. Il’issa reported that his mount failed to travel at any stage and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.    

THE ANSWER MAN – Rider M. Gray reported that his mount was field shy and raced very greenly throughout. Trainer S. Saunders was advised a warning was placed on THE ANSWER MAN due to the gelding’s racing manners.          

Race 8 - KRISTEN DOYLE WTC THANKS YOU FOR 15 YEARS CLASS 2 HANDICAP  1350 M
 
STARBOARD – Raced wide without cover for a majority of the event.

LOWESTOFT – Slow to begin. Approaching the 100m was eased when in restricted room and laying in.

STREET DAZZLER – Stood flat footed and as a result was slow to begin (4L). Trainer G. Banks was advised that the mare is now suspended and must officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards due to standing flat footed.

EINSTAG – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
AUTOFICTION – Under pressure from the 600m. Eased down from the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Rider H. Richardson had no explanation for the poor performance. Trainer J. Geppert reported to Stewards that consideration of the racing future of the gelding in his stale would be discussed in the coming days. He was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next engagement due to its poor performance. Margin 18.63L.

On return to scale apprentice R. O’Connell was dislodged. His mount was quickly recaptured, and he was immediately attended to by QAS who cleared him of any serious injuries outside of a sore right ankle.
Stewards acting under the provisions of AR208(3)(b) declared correct weight in his absence as he was being attended too. On return to the jockey’s room R. O’ Connell was interviewed where it was established that on return to scale his mount shifted out abruptly from the heels of LOWSTOFT which had shied from a buggy, which was parked close to the running rail. This buggy had been used to transport the vet and farrier to the start and had inadvertently been parked in the wrong location following the event. Stewards spoke to the Warwick Turf Club in relation to this process to avoid future events.
 
Further, early the following day R. O’Connell made contact with the Stewards to informed them his ankle had swollen up, and he would be unable to fulfil his engagements at St. George Saturday 26th. He was advised he will need a medical clearance prior to when he next rides.
