Due to transport difficulties experienced by Trainer T Parry and K Krogh today’s events were delayed and subsequently rescheduled to the following times:
 
Race 1 – 2:00pm
Race 2 – 2:40pm
Race 3 – 3:30pm
Race 4 – 4:00pm
Race 5 – 4:30pm
 
 
Race 1: ELDERS RURAL SERVICE WINTON MAIDEN PLATE - 800 metres
 
S. Galvin was the rider of EYNHALLOW and Stewards accepted the reason for the late declaration of the jockey.
 
ANGRY DESERT – Jumped outwards and travelled wide for the majority of the race.
 
SUNNYSIDE – Hung out rounding the first turn.
 
EXCEED TO WIN – Raced greenly throughout. Jockey L. Dillon stated the mare was inclined to lay in and out and never raced comfortably.
 
IMA POCKET ROCKET – Slow away.
 
HAMMERFEST – Slow to begin.
 
SCOTTABEE – Jumped outwards and travelled wide for the majority with cover.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 2: CLONCURRY MUSTERING OPEN HANDICAP - 1000 metres 
 
 
REBEL ROVER – Lay over prior to jumping and was slow to begin, then travelled wide for much of the race.
 
ENGINE FIFTY FIVE – Slow into stride.
 
WICKED WIKI – Travelled wide for much of the race.
 
MAKE AMENDS – Slow to begin, hung out rounding the home turn and lay out under pressure down the home straight.
 
HOW BIG’S THE HOLE – Travelled wide in the middle and late stages.
 
ZOU DER ZEE – Slow into stride.
 
 
 
Race 3: R. BLACKET & FAMILY QTIS BM 55 HANDICAP - 1000 metres  
 
ABBA ORIGINAL and CRYSTAL BEAR were both late scratchings at 1.30pm as there were no riders available.
 
J. Esser was the rider of DUAL PERSONALITY and permitted to ride 1kg overweight.
 
T. Brummell was the rider of HUNTING and stewards accepted the reason for the late declaration of the jockey.
 
DUAL PERSONALITY – Slow into stride and raced ungenerously throughout. Jockey J. Esser stated the gelding resented the kickback.
 
CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY – Nearing the 600m sustained an injury to the offside front leg dislodging jockey D. Sparks. Jockey D. Sparks was treated by ambulance officers and transported to the Winton Hospital for further treatment. The gelding CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY was humanly euthanised by the veterinary surgeon.
 
SILVER FOX – Was hampered in his run when the another rider was dislodged and had to be steadied and corrected.
 
 
 
Race 4: ORLANDO ORCHARDS BM 65 HANDICAP - 1200 metres  
 
There was a further delay to the start of race 4 awaiting ambulance officers and veterinary staff to return to the track.
 
ADMIRAL RUFF – Was a late scratching at 1.30pm due to no rider being available.
 
J. Esser was the rider of ONEHUNDREDCLICKS and permitted to ride 1kg overweight.
 
HOLEY GADOLEY – Was a late scratching at 4.00pm due to jockey D. Sparks being unavailable.
 
ALLUDER – Was a late scratching at 4.33pm on veterinary advise when the gelding became caught in the front gates of the barriers. Deductions were announced with correct weight being 37 cents in the face value of the dollar for win bets and 23 cents in the face value of the dollar for place bets.
 
KAKAKENNY – Slow into stride and travelled wide in the early and middle stages.
 
DUTCH COURAGE – Travelled wide for much of the event.
 
ONEHUNDREDCLICKS – Slow into stride.
 
 
Race 5: CAMPBELL HIGGINSON TOWN PLANNING RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 1200 metres      
 
Jockey J. Esser was the replacement rider of TRUFFLE HUNTER and permitted to ride 1kg overweight.
 
MOVING TARGET – The gelding was extremely fractious in the mounting yard and took considerable effort to get the horse to the barriers. Stewards advised Trainer S Royes that they would need to see improved manners next start. Slow to begin and raced ungenerously. Jockey J. Babarovich stated the gelding resented the kickback.
 
ICE MELODY – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
BAYSIDE BANDIT – Slow into stride when hampered by an inside runner jumping awkwardly.
 
DENLAGO – Travelled wide for much of the race.
