Race 1 - OPEN Handicap (1100 METRES)

STORMTROOPER – Slow to begin.

QUEENOFMAINSTREET – Raced four wide for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 3 - BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1000 METRES)

VALAR DOHAERIS – Crowded for room near the 800 metres when HARD ENOUGH shifted in when not fully clear. C Rogers, rider of HARD ENOUGH, was reprimanded for carelessness under AR131(a).

A GOOD CHANCE – When asked to comment on the performance rider L McCoy stated the gelding travelled comfortably in the lead until entering the home straight, however when placed under pressure weakened from the 300 metres adding that A GOOD CHANCE would derive significant benefit from today’s first up run.

HALCYON DAYS – Inconvenienced when steadied from the heels of VALAR DOHAERIS near the 800 metres.

LET’S GO CHAMP – Slow to begin. Raced three wide throughout the event.

DANCING TALES – Passing the 100 metres had to be steadied from the heels of HALCYON DAYS which shifted in under pressure. G Steele, rider of HALCYON DAYS, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Race 4 - 3 Maiden Plate Two-Year-Old & Up Set Weights (850 METRES)

ARMAGEDDON FLYER was declared a late scratching at 2:15pm when the filly was unable to be loaded onto the float transporting the horse to the racecourse. Stewards ordered all bets on ARMAGEDDON FLYER to be refunded in full and deductions of 27c win and 25c place face value on all winning bets prior to 2:15pm to apply.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by Apprentice S Stephan, rider of second past the post STRYKING MAID, against first past the post DYNAMIC JEWEL (App R Wilson) alleging interference rounding the home turn and in the home straight. After taking evidence from connections of both runners and viewing the patrol footage Stewards found rounding the home turn DYNAMIC JEWEL laid out marginally taking STRYKING MAID wider on the track and in the home straight, whilst both runners raced in close proximity, there was no contact between DYNAMIC JEWEL and STRYKING MAID. Bearing in mind the half-length margin and the manner which both runners finished the race off, Stewards dismissed the protest and correct weight declared on the semaphored placings.

IGBO – Shortly after the start blundered and lost ground. Rider I Teh was dislodged on pulling up. Examined by QAS staff and cleared to fulfill her remaining engagement. A post-race veterinary examination of IGBO revealed superficial lacerations to the near foreleg.

STRYKING MAID – Taken wider rounding the home turn.

DYNAMIC JEWEL – Laid out making the home turn.

MY TARANAKI – Crowded on jumping and lost ground.

AKLAVIK – Crowded on jumping and lost ground. Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure near the 300 metres.
