GENERAL

The following runners were declared late scratchings at 8:17am due to no rider being available:
Race 2 – OFFICE POLITICS
Race 2 – FAST ‘N’ FANCY

Following an inspection the track was upgraded to a good (3) at 11:15am

Runners that had started in the previous 7 days were inspected by the veterinarian and cleared to start.

Race 1: THE PROFESSIONALS REAL ESTATE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1000 METRES)

RUBUNKAR – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay inwards when under pressure in the home straight.

KEEPMEINTHELOPE – Bumped on jumping by LITTLE PINKER and as a result bumped with BRASCO. Laid inwards when under pressure in the home straight and approaching the 100m bumped with HARD TO DISMISS. When questioned in relation to the performance jockey C McIver stated that the gelding did not appreciate the firmer track conditions and failed to respond when asked for an effort.

BRASCO – Fractious prior to the start. Bumped by KEEPMEINTHELOPE shortly after the start. Hung out rounding the home turn. Trainer L Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on BRASCO for hanging outwards.

CLOCKS TICKING – Slow into stride. Laid inwards when under pressure in the home straight.

GREYLIST – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Bumped by LITTLE PINKER near the 150m.

LITTLE PINKER – Shifted inwards on jumping bumping KEEPMEINTHELOPE which in turn bumped BRASCO. Inclined to race keenly in the middle stages. Held up for clear racing room in the home straight until attempting a narrow run to the inside RUBUNKER near the 150m and bumped with GREYLIST.

HARD TO DISMISS – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Bumped by KEEPMEINTHELOPE approaching the 100m.

Race 2: JS PLUMBING BENCHMARK 50 Handicap (1000 METRES)

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the available replays to determine if DISCOVERED GOLD was afforded a fair start. It was established that momentarily prior to the start being affected the mare had dropped its head and began slowly as a result. Stewards were satisfied that the poor start was attributed to the mares mannerisms. Subsequently stewards declared correct weight on the judges numbers.

DISCOVERED GOLD – Dropped its head momentarily before the start was effected and was slow to begin as a result. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. When questioned in relation to the performance apprentice J Dooley stated that after beginning poorly the mare had to endure significant work in the early stages to obtain a position in touch with the field, she further added that due to her mount over racing she elected to allow DISCOVERED GOLD to travel where comfortable and improve three wide which may have proved detrimental over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.

HIGH SECURITY – Raced keenly in the early stages.

OFFICE POLITICS – Declared a late scratching at 8:17am due to no rider being available.

LADY CONSORT – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards when under pressure over the final 100m

FAST ’N’ FANCY – Declared a late scratching at 8:17am due to no rider being available.

CHALKLEY – Over raced in the early stages. Jockey N Summers reported that in her opinion CHALKLEY may not have appreciated the firmer track conditions today.

LITTLE IFFY – Shifted outwards on jumping and was slow into stride as a result. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay inwards when under pressure in the home straight.

IMPACTFULL MISS – Began awkwardly. Laid inwards when under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

MR GREY – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay inwards when under pressure over the final 100m.

Race 3: GREAT KEPPEL ISLAND HIDEAWAY Class B Handicap (1200 METRES)

KENNY THE BAKER – Inclined to lay inwards when under pressure in the home straight.

ROCKABILLY (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages. Apprentice A Meisnner reported that her mount may not have appreciated the firmer track conditions and failed to let down when asked for an effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a poor post-race recovery.

LUNA READY – Bumped on jumping by MAKING HISTORY. Raced keenly in the middle stages.

MAKING HISTORY – Began very awkwardly and bumped LUNA READY. Laid inwards when under pressure in the home straight. When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance jockey C McIver stated that the gelding had begun better than in its most recent starts and was able to find a more favourable position in running. He further added that the removal of the tongue tie proved beneficial to MAKING HISTORY’s racing manners.

Race 4: VILLA LA SINI MOTEL YEPPOON BENCHMARK 50 Handicap (1400 METRES)

NITROGEN – Shifted inwards on jumping bumping BELLE’S BOY on a number of occasions. Laid inwards when under pressure in the home straight.

CITIROC – Began very awkwardly. Inclined to lay inwards when under pressure in the home straight.

BELLE’S BOY – Buffeted between NITROGEN and MASALI RAFFA on jumping and lost ground as a result. Over raced in the early stages.

MASALI RAFFA – Began awkwardly and bumped with BELLE’S boy on a number of occasions. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Jockey C McIver was reprimanded under AR132(5) for his use of the whip 16 times in totality, 2 more than permissible. In assessing penalty stewards were mindful of jockey McIver’s recent clear record in relation to the rule.

TWIN ISLAND (NZ) – Raced keenly in the middle stages.

Race 5: ABSOLUTE WASTE QTIS Maiden Plate (1400 METRES)

SOYDECAFFLATTE – Put in an awkward stride shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Disappointed for a run near the 150m. Laid inwards under pressure over the final 100m.

NOTFORTHEMONEY – Began awkwardly.

THE JEAN GINA – Raced keenly in the early stages.
