Greyhound director signs off at RQ
Racing Queensland Acting Chair Jane Seawright has praised Dale Cartwright for his contribution to the Queensland racing industry after signing off at today’s Board meeting.
Having first been appointed to the RQ Board in 2016, Mr Cartwright has served as the greyhound code director for the past nine years, providing strong and decisive leadership during that time.
With his term concluding following today’s Board meeting, Mr Cartwright has opted to step down from his role and did not seek a further term.
“Over the past decade, Dale has proved to be a strong and passionate advocate for the greyhound code,” Ms Seawright said.
“His contribution extends well beyond greyhound racing, playing a pivotal role in the success of Racing Queensland more broadly including record-breaking revenue and returns to participants.
“We’re extremely grateful for his stewardship during this time and thank him for his dedicated service.”
Having also sat on the Greyhound Australasia Board, including as Deputy Chair, Mr Cartwright’s accomplishments include:
- Increasing returns to participants from $164 million in 2016/17 to $370 million in 2023/24;
- The delivery and progress of a wide range of infrastructure projects, headlined by The Q; and
- A dynamic and enhanced racing calendar with marquee features including the $1 million Brisbane Cup, highly popular Origin Greyhound Series and the Gold Bullion.
Racing Minister Tim Mander thanked Mr Cartwright for his service to Queensland’s racing industry.
“Mr Cartwright has served the Queensland greyhound racing industry with distinction over the past nine years, while acting as a proud advocate at the national level,” Minister Mander said.
“I wish to thank Mr Cartwright for his contribution towards the ongoing success of racing in Queensland.”
A replacement for Mr Cartwright on the RQ Board has not yet been announced.
