RACE 1

DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN (1) has good gate speed and draws ideally in this race. He has been an improver in recent starts with two seconds in his last three starts along with a solid sixth at Albion Park in what might’ve been a slightly stronger race. If he can lead and dictate he could prove very hard to catch.

OUTER CHANGE (2) has options in the early stages from the ideal draw. Ran on strongly last start at Marburg in what was a much-improved effort. If she can improve again she could figure in this race from the good draw.

SAMMYS SECRET (3) comes into this race third up from a spell and should be nearing peak fitness. He put in a solid effort last start when running on last into second behind Cheddar Made Beta. He is somewhat one paced so may race best up on speed in this race.

MISS SERENDIPITY (6) has had three race starts since moving up to QLD from the Bathurst region in NSW and has yet to place. She will get a long way back in the run on be forced to do work from the wide gate which could make things tough in this race. Went around in a trial at Marburg on Sunday and ran good time but did beat a horse that’s 1 win from 28 starts so that may be a slight query on the form out of the trial.

SELECTIONS: DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN (1), OUTER CHANGE (2), SAMMYS SECRET (3), MISS SERENDIPITY (6)

SUGGESTED BET: DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN (1) to win.

RACE 2

LLANFAIR LLEWELLAN (5) has been solid since moving up to QLD. She was forced to sit without cover last start and battled away well for fourth. Her start prior she took a trail on Imani and was good enough to run second.

WANDARY DELIGHT (2) has drawn well in this race and has options in the early stages. She is a horse that would seemingly be well suited to the trot rods format given her high speed. She has had two runs back from a spell and comes into this race third up where she might be nearing peak fitness.

YELLA (1) has good gate speed and an ideal draw to use it. He gains the services of champion driver Luke McCarthy. He trialled on Sunday at Marburg and went reasonably there when running third behind Miss Serendipity. Shouldn’t be far away in the run.

MAN OF ACTION (4) is a gate speed horse that probably hasn’t drawn ideally in the race in gate 4. He has two wins and a second from his last three starts and is racing in particularly good form. If he is able to obtain a good run in the race he shouldn’t be far away.

SELECTIONS: LLANFAIR LLEWELLAN (5), WANDARY DELIGHT (2), YELLA (1), MAN OF ACTION (4)

SUGGESTED BET: WANDARY DELIGHT (2) each way.

RACE 3

SHADYS DELIGHT (1) led two starts ago and scored a dominant win running a solid last half for the grade. He doesn’t have brilliant gate speed but does find a race where there doesn’t appear to be anything that gets out too well and if he can do enough to lead he would be extremely hard to catch. Given he will be driven by Luke McCarthy he should be

ROLLONX (2) has been racing well in recent starts with two placings his last two starts. He has options in the early stages whether he drops onto the leaders back or chooses to have a look for the lead early. Should be in the finish.

PROSPECTUS (6) is one of the better performed horses in the race but has the worst draw. She isn’t a horse that’s generally capable of doing too much work in her races and if she goes back she is likely to be last in the run. She needs the race run to suit and will need luck.

ALTANA BLUE (3) has been an improver recently with three consecutive placings. He can race up on speed and battle away. Looks well placed in this company.

SELECTIONS: SHADYS DELIGHT (1), ROLLONX (2), PROSPECTUS (6), ALTANA BLUE (3)

SUGGESTED BET: SHADYS DELIGHT (1) to win.

RACE 4

ARKUNA (2) led last start and was too good for them when leading all the way in solid enough time. She has never been a noted gate speed horse and was likely benefited by drawing gate 1 at the 2040 start point last start. If she can do enough to hold a position in the early stages she is likely to be hard to beat.

KEAYANG OMAR (4) was having his first start in QLD last start having come up from Victoria. He showed enough gate speed to lead and was a comfortable winner over the 2040. He is likely to be forced to do some work in this race but has the ability and shouldn’t be far away.

ACCELERE (3) should the emergency come out of the race he will have options in the early stages. He has been improved in recent outings having run a good second last start at Redcliffe after securing an economical run.

TAKING A PUNT (6) is returning in this race and as a result of him being ODM he finds himself drawing widest. He seemingly has high speed and might be suited to the Trot Rods format.

SELECTIONS: ARKUNA (2), KEAYANG OMAR (4), ACCELERE (3), TAKING A PUNT (6)

SUGGESTED BET: ARKUNA (2) to win.

RACE 5

NAUTIE GALVINATOR (3) was third last start in a heat of the Trot Rods series. He draws to advantage over his main rivals in this race and will likely look to hold that advantage in the early stages. His effort two runs ago at Redcliffe over the 2040 was impressive when leading.

MISSED CONSEQUENCES (6) has very good gate speed and despite drawing poorly she shouldn’t be far away in the run. She ran into second last start at this track after obtaining a good run in the race. She took on a heat of the Trot Rods series last year and was beaten by Artful Maid there when running into second.

WEREGOINGTOGETCHA (5) had a tough run last start when things didn’t work out for her in the early stages. She has good gate speed and may look to use it in the early stages. Could run a better race with a bit more luck than she’s been getting in recent starts.

IMANI (4) scored a good win last start when leading and beating County Court Judge. Shouldn’t find this race too much tougher but does find herself ODM as a result of an early break in the first attempt scoring up.

SELECTIONS: NAUTIE GALVINATOR (3), MISSED CONSEQUENCES (6), WEREGOINGTOGETCHA (5), IMANI (4)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 6

CALL TO ORDER (3) zipped off the gate two starts ago before obtaining the leaders back trail on My Ultimate Buddha and just proved too speedy late in a strong 1.52.5 mile rate. He took on a heat of the Trot Rods last start and was heavily supported by just came up slightly short when running into second behind Rockon Rocky. He is likely to prove hard to beat in this race from a good draw.

HOLD ONTO YA BLING (1) was a previous winner of a Trot Rods race on finals night in fast time. He draws ideally in gate one and has the gate speed to dictate. Has been racing in good form recently and is rarely far away when drawing favourably. Should be right in the finish.

GEM PUNTER PETE (4) was a good winner three starts ago at this track when closing best to score. Two starts ago he breezed and was very good to battle away for second there. Took on a stronger race last start and ran 10th but was only beaten 12.2 metres. He is speedy and looks ideally suited to the format.

INDI AIR TONIGHT (2) took on a heat of the Trod Rods last start and only battled away there late running into fifth. She does draw favourably and has options from the draw.

SELECTIONS: CALL TO ORDER (3), HOLD ONTO YA BLING (1), GEM PUNTER PETE (4), INDI AIR TONIGHT (2)

SUGGESTED BET: CALL TO ORDER (3) to win.

RACE 7

MAYWYN TROUBADOUR (2) gets the services of champion driver Luke McCarthy in this race after scoring a dominant Trot Rods victory last time out when leading all of the way. Draws favourably in this race although he may not be able to cross Rocknroll Times in the early stages who is a brilliant beginner himself. Has options from the draw and should prove hard to beat.

FIREBOLT (5) scored an impressive Trot Rods victory last time out when doing early work and still powering to the line to score. She draws wide in this race which makes her bid for victory tougher this time but she is racing particularly well and goes in as one of the better hopes.

ROCKNROLL TIMES (1) has brilliant gate speed and he used that last start to drive through and lead a Trot Rods heat. He was taken on early and just got tired late in that race. He draws ideally again and has options in the early stages.

THE TIGER ARMY (4) hit the line nicely last start at Redcliffe. He isn’t seemingly a horse ideally suited to the format given his lack of gate speed. If they go too hard in the race he can be running on at the finish.

SELECTIONS: MAYWYN TROUBADOUR (2), FIREBOLT (5), ROCKNROLL TIMES (1), THE TIGER ARMY (4)

SUGGESTED BET: MAYWYN TROUBADOUR (2) to win.

RACE 8

BLACKJACK CRIPPA (4) returned from a spell last start in a heat of the Trot Rods series with a good second behind Cyclone Tony. He has previously won a Trot Rods race in good time. He is likely to have derived benefit from that first up effort and should be hard to beat in this race.

THERESACHANCE (3) has been racing in great form having won two of his last four starts. He scored a good Trot Rods win three starts ago when closing best to get over the top. He looks like to secure a similar run in this race from a good draw and can be running on again late.

MY ULTIMATE FELIX (1) is a capable horse that wasn’t too far away as a 2YO in most of his races before returning well enough as a 3YO. He is having his first start for a new stable having been previously trained by Shane Graham. If he can secure a good run in the race he could be thereabouts.

MISSTREPO (2) took on a heat of the Trot Rods series two weeks ago and was well beaten into third 14 metres away from dominant winner Maywyn Troubador. She is likely to secure a good run in the race from an ideal gate which should see her get every chance.

SELECTIONS: BLACKJACK CRIPPA (4), THERESACHANCE (3), MY ULTIMATE FELIX (1), MISSTREPO (2)

SUGGESTED BET: THERESACHANCE (3) to win

Slide9_5.png

RACE 9

ROCK SUPREME (3) has been in career best form of late and put in another good run last start when running on late behind dominant winner Regazzo Di Tilly. He made errors in his two starts prior to that from the stand start and was very good in each of those runs to finish as close as he did. He is generally very good over the mile so he certainly seems like a horse that could be suited to racing over the 947 metres at Redcliffe.

RISK TAKER (6) took on a strong race two runs ago won by The Janitor and he just found it too tough up on that speed when beaten 36.7 metres. He bounced back last start with a good win over the 2040 at Redcliffe when running on late to core over Little Bolt. He draws widest in this race but is very speedy and can be running on late if the tempo suits.

WITHOUTHETUH (1) has very good gate speed and could dictate in the early stages from the good gate. At his best in WA he was a good front runner and was able to record a few good mile rates out in front. His recent mobile trial was just moderate and he would need to have improved off that effort to figure in a race of this quality.

HAY THERE JOE (2) hasn’t been racing at his absolute best of late although he hasn’t had the best of draws in recent times. He draws favourably in this race and has options in the early stages whether he chooses to drop onto the fence or stay in the running line.

SELECTIONS: ROCK SUPREME (3), RISK TAKER (6), WITHOUTHETUH (1), HAY THERE JOE (2)

SUGGESTED BET: ROCK SUPREME (3) to win.

RACE 10

FACT FINDER (4) was a terrific winner on Saturday night beating a strong field including Its Electrifying and Vinsanity who he repossess in this race. He again has the draw advantage on Vinsanity who appears one of his main rivals in the race and can look to hold that advantage in the early stages. He may look for the breeze position in this race where he can control the race and clearly looks hardest to beat.

MYNAMESEVAN (1) led last start at Hobart and couldn’t quite finish that race off after over racing. He has seemingly always been best suited racing over the mile and could be suited to the 947m Trot Rods format. He returns to his previous trainer Charlie Martin who had plenty of success with the horse prior to his stint in Tasmania.

VINSANITY (6) raced at Albion Park last start over the mile and was very good to battle on for fourth in that race after facing the breeze. He draws the widest gate in this race and takes on a horse that was able to beat him on Saturday night on Fact Finder. He can figure with the right run but will need luck in running from the wide gate.

COTE DAZUR (3) should the emergency not get a start in the race he will have options in the early stages whether he drops onto the pegs or chooses to stay in the running line. He is generally best when able to obtain a trail in the early stages and be saved for one run at them late which he may get the opportunity to do in this race.

SELECTIONS: FACT FINDER (4), MYNAMESEVAN (1), VINSANITY (6), COTE DAZUR (3)

SUGGESTED BET: FACT FINDER (4) to win.
