Inter Dominion to star on Sky Thoroughbred Central
Sky Thoroughbred Central is poised to provide showcase coverage of the upcoming Inter Dominion Championships.
The agreement with Sky will see the pinnacle in Australasian harness racing beamed across the nation, with both rounds of heats and the finals at Albion Park broadcast on the channel.
Following last year’s successful debut, the Redcliffe Gold Cup meeting this Saturday, June 28, will also be shown on STC, kicking off four weeks of dedicated harness racing coverage on the channel.
The showcase coverage will start at approximately 5.15pm on each of the four Saturday evenings, with a rotation of STC hosts Jason Witham, Ben Way and Ally Mosely joined by the code’s top analysts including Trackside NZ’s Brittany Graham, alongside Greg O’Connor, Ryan Phelan and Brandon Kreymborg.
Racing Queensland Acting CEO Lachlan Murray said the agreement to broadcast four Queensland Constellations feature meetings via STC is befitting of the national interest in the carnival.
“There’s no question that this iteration of the Constellations will shine brighter than ever, with the return of the Inter Dominion to Queensland as the crowning jewel of the carnival,” Mr Murray said.
“With the record-breaking prize money on offer across the series, we’re set to welcome the best pacers and trotters from both sides of the Tasman here to the Sunshine State.
“At the same time, our very own local champion Leap To Fame will be looking to secure his second victory in the series, and cement his legacy as one of the greatest standardbreds we have ever seen.
“We are looking forward to showcasing what is undoubtedly one of the code’s premier carnivals to a wider audience across the nation, with seven Group 1s up for grabs.”
Saturday’s racing at ‘The Triangle,’ includes the Group 2 Redcliffe Gold Cup, as well as Group 3 events the Redcliffe Derby and Redcliffe Oaks.
Attention will then turn to The Creek for a red-hot fortnight of racing, starting with the $300,000 Group 1 The Rising Sun night on July 5 that will include the heats for both the Inter Dominion pacers and trotters and the Group 3 Wayne Wilson Memorial Paleface Adios Classic.
There will be further incentive for the winner of The Rising Sun in 2025, who will progress straight through to the Inter Dominion Pacing Final – provided they meet the remaining conditions.
The Constellations’ penultimate night on Saturday, July 12 includes the second round of Inter Dominion heats and the Group 1 Ladbrokes Protostar, being run exclusively for two-year-old pacers.
It means the final night of the Constellations on Saturday, July 19 will offer more than $2 million in stakes and five unforgettable Group 1 races, with the Inter Dominion Finals to be joined by the Queensland Derby, Queensland Oaks and The Golden Girl.
