RACE 1

SMOKEY BEAR (2) has been knocking on the door for a maiden victory running 3 consecutive second placings in his last 3 starts. Looked to have found a great opportunity to win last start when landing a long way clear of his rivals in the early stages but was run down late by Kyokushin Bear potentially losing focus or concentration when out in front by himself. He Should be better for the outing there and looks hard to beat in this race.

BLACK VIPER (3) returns from a spell in this race after two solid efforts running second and third last time in. If he brings his best manners he looks one of the better chances in this race.

HYPNOTIZE ME (6) faces a big handicap for a 2YO trotter in this race having scored two victories in his first two starts to start his career. Would need a few things to go his way to get into this race.

ICONIC IMAGE (4) is first up for new trainer Shawn Grimsey appearing to bring solid Victorian form into the race.

SELECTIONS: SMOKEY BEAR (2), BLACK VIPER (3), HYPNOTIZE ME (6), ICONIC IMAGE (4)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 2

SABALA (8) was an impressive second last start behind Miss Bay King Cole at Redcliffe when being forced to do the work there. She draws awkwardly again in this race inside the back row and will need luck at the right time to get into the race. If the luck comes she will be hard to beat.

MIGHTY CRUNCH (7) was a winner three starts ago at this track when leading all the way. He has shown good ability so far as a 2YO and continues to improve each start. He will need to further lift to be challenging Sabala but does have the draw advantage and should be thereabouts.

FULL OF CHARM (2) sat outside the leader in a race taken out by Decipher and battled on well there for fourth. She draws favourably in this race and should get a good run up on speed.

SWIFTIE (4) has run third her last two starts hitting the line hard on both occasions. She draws somewhat awkwardly this time in gate 4 and might be shuffled back early. Can be running on late again.

SELECTIONS: SABALA (8), MIGHTY CRUNCH (7), FULL OF CHARM (2), SWIFTIE (4)

SUGGESTED BET: MIGHTY CRUNCH (7) to win.

RACE 3

SPORTS BOUNTY (5) ran third two starts ago at Redcliffe when doing his best work through the line there. Seems to be best suited up on speed over the mile at Albion Park a position he should be able to find in this race.

JUSTROLLINGAROUND (9) was a dominant winner last start at Redcliffe when James Herbertson took the drive as part of the Young Drivers Championship. She should get a good run off the speed in this race and be running into it late if the race is run to suit.

PROSPECTUS (1) ran a good second to Justrollingaround last start at Redcliffe. From the good gate she is likely to secure a good run again in this race and should be in the money again.

DOC HARVEY (8) was a good winner three starts ago when leading all of the way at Marburg. He since hasn’t had a lot of luck taking on a much stronger race last start taken out by Decipher at this track. Should get a good run through at the start and be in the finish again.

SELECTIONS: SPORTS BOUNTY (5), JUSTROLLINGAROUND (9), PROSPECTUS (1), DOC HARVEY (8)

SUGGESTED BET: SPORTS BOUNTY (5) to win.

RACE 4

DRAGON (7) worked hard to lead before running along last start and was just run down late by Our Sunset Delight. He draws wide in this race and can look to work forward in the early stages to sit up on speed. Should be thereabouts again.

MISS CRUNCHY (9) took on the Queensland Oaks qualifier last start and was well beaten there but finished alongside some nice horses which went on to run good races in the oaks including Nila Maree and La Miki. She will be suited doing no work early and can be running into it late.

LITTLE SURFER GIRL (8) looks likely to get a good run through at the start on the back of a gate speed horse. She is likely to be close enough on the pegs and if she goes similar to her second behind Post Painter four runs ago in fast time at Redcliffe she can be in the money in this race.

BLAZING TART (3) led all the way at Redcliffe last start to score a dominant win. She draws favourably in this race with a number of her key rivals drawn poorly. If she can find the front and control the race she should be hard to run down.

SELECTIONS: DRAGON (7), MISS CRUNCHY (9), LITTLE SURFER GIRL (8), BLAZING TART (3)

SUGGESTED BET: MISS CRUNCHY (9) to win.

RACE 5

SIX TIMES A LADY (7) might look to head forward at the start in this race and if she was able to find the lead she would become the one to beat in the race. She ran well last start after leading over the 2040 at Redcliffe running a close up second to Bettors Moon.

BEACH MAGIC (5) was making up good ground late last start into fourth at Redcliffe. He doesn’t seem to be showing much gate speed which could see him shuffled back in the early stages of this race. Can be running on late again.

BOSTON BEAUTY (10) was an impressive winner two starts ago at this track and trip when sitting without cover and proving too good. She then took on the Oaks and Derby consolation last start and was well beaten albeit in a much stronger race where she did do a few things wrong.

POCKET BOOK (6) hasn’t been at her absolute best in recent outings finishing out of the money her past 6 starts. Prior to that she was a good second at this track when driven by Pete McMullen.

SELECTIONS: SIX TIMES A LADY (7), BEACH MAGIC (5), BOSTON BEAUTY (10), POCKET BOOK (6)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 6

TEST OF FIRE (1) is a gate speed horse that returns from a spell in this race having trialled a number of times. His best trial was his latest when second to Beachbabe Crocker in an effort that would see him hard enough to beat in this level of race. Should be in the finish.

ENGLISH DANCE (8) follows a gate speed horse early in this race and should secure a great run. He’s had no luck in recent outings when badly held up at a crucial stage before hitting the line strongly late up the inside. He should be hard to hold out late.

BAIL DENIED (9) was fourth behind Mikis Joe last start over the 2138. He is likely to appreciate the step back to the shorter course here as he is seemingly speedier than he is tough. Can be running on late if the race is run to suit.

SCRUFFY (5) is right back in class on some of his better efforts. He is fairly versatile in this type of grade and could be put into the race in the middle stages.

SELECTIONS: TEST OF FIRE (1), ENGLISH DANCE (8), BAIL DENIED (9), SCRUFFY (5)

SUGGESTED BET: ENGLISH DANCE (8) to win.

RACE 7

TORO LOCO (1) had no luck last start at Redcliffe when caught wide in the early stages. He draws to lead this time and should give them all something to catch. He ran a good race two starts ago when leading and running along before being run down late.

MISS BAY KING COLE (5) was well driven last start to get to the lead from a back row draw. She draws wider this time and it looks a potentially awkward set up for her but she has shown good versatility this time in lead and coming from behind them. Should be in the finish again.

I GOT CHILLS (6) took on the consolation of the Derby and Oaks at Albion Park and was a good effort to run into the placings there behind Strikem. He should find this race easier but does draw a wide gate and is likely to get back in the run early.

DEEBO (9) has been impressive since landing in QLD. He scored a good win at Redcliffe two starts ago when closing over the top to score from the 1-1. He will need to be doing something similar in this race from this draw.

SELECTIONS: TORO LOCO (1), MISS BAY KING COLE (5), I GOT CHILLS (6), DEEBO (9)

SUGGESTED BET: TORO LOCO (1) to win.

RACE 8

FACT FINDER (10) scored a dominant victory last start in a strong race at Redcliffe where they rated brilliant time. This race does look tougher but he has run good time before and showed versatility having won from a number of different positions in races. He should be hard to beat again.

IN EXCESS (4) was well beaten behind Fact Finder last start a horse he comes up against again in this race. He got well back in the run there and was finishing off powerfully late into fourth. This looks a race where he might be able to get forward and if he found the from the would be hard to catch.

O B LEGAL (7) has brilliant gate speed this horse and looks suited dropping out of heats of the Inter Dominion into this race. If he was able to launch across and lead he’d be extremely hard to catch over the mile.

LAST TIME JOE (9) has been racing without a huge amount of luck. He looks suited doing no work in the early stages and looking to run over the top late.

SELECTIONS: FACT FINDER (10), IN EXCESS (4), O B LEGAL (7), LAST TIME JOE (9)

SUGGESTED BET: FACT FINDER (10) to win.

RACE 9

HELL IM SMOOTH (6) took out a heat of the Qbred Breeders Classic for the colts and geldings two race starts ago and was a winner there after sitting outside the leader. He was well beaten in a recent trial at Marburg but did make a break at the start and lost considerable ground as a result.

KASH TIN (12) ran an impressive race last start sitting outside the leader and battling on well for a strong third behind Hunger Strike. He draws poorly outside the back row in this race and will need to do work at some stage. He is capable of doing that work and still being in the finish the way he has been racing.

LENNY LINCOLN (7) took on a much stronger race taken out by Aurora Joy last start at this track. Despite the wide gate this race looks considerably easier than that last start run and he should be hard to beat in this company.

GO COLOUR MY WORLD (1) has good early speed and likely dictates the map in the early stages. He has won a number of times at this track and trip and should be thereabouts again.

SELECTIONS: HELL IM SMOOTH (6), KASH TIN (12), LENNY LINCOLN (7), GO COLOUR MY WORLD (1)

SUGGESTED BET: HELL IM SMOOTH (6) to win.
