RACE 1

OUR GOAT (5) has 3 wins in his past 5 outings and has recorded fast times in those victories including his latest win which came in 1.51.9. He draws wide in this race but appears to have the barrier advantage on key rivals which should allow him to dictate in the early stages. If he could find the front in this race he would be very hard to run down.

LUX AETERNA (5) was able to secure the right run last start over the 2138 at this track when nabbing the spot on the back of Major Hot who was left in the breeze. She was able to finish over the top late in what was a well deserved victory having been luckless in the Golden Girl her start prior behind superstar mare Eye Keep Smiling. Looks to have drawn awkwardly in this race and may be forced to do the work.

VAN BASTAN (3) has previously tasted success in QLD when racing at this track. He is in a tough grade of racing at Menangle and appears better suited in this race. He has great early speed and if he could zip across he would likely be somewhere in the finish securing the right run.

OUR VINCENT CAN GOGH (10) finished a distant third behind Deus Ex last start in what looks good enough form for a race of this nature. He draws outside the back row which appears to make things tricky but if the race is run to suit he can be running into the money.

SELECTIONS: OUR GOAT (5), LUX AETERNA (5), VAN BASTAN (3), OUR VINCENT CAN GOGH (10)

SUGGESTED BET: OUR GOAT (5) to win.

RACE 2

VINSANITY (2) has led on a number of occasions in QLD and each time he has seemingly gone below his best when being beaten or narrowly winning. He has the early speed to dictate but may elect to take a trail on one of the better chances in the race. His recent efforts have been good including a tough effort two starts ago when doing all the work and battling on for third.

DARIN (6) worked to race outside the leader and was able to win impressively last start. His win prior was equally impressive when rating fast time out in front after doing a lot of work in the run. He is likely to work forward again in this race and should be right in the finish with the right run.

IN EXCESS (9) was a winner last start when leading all the way over the mile at Albion Park over Last Time Joe who has since won. He seems to be best suited when saved up for one run at them and could find a very suitable race with what appears to be plenty of early speed on the front row. If the race is run to suit he should be hard to hold out late.

ITS ELECTRIFYING (8) draws favourably inside the back row to do no work early and use his high speed late if the gaps appear. He was a good second over the mile last start when leading and just being run down late by Beachride.

SELECTIONS: VINSANITY (2), DARIN (6), DRAGON (9), ITS ELECTRIFYING (8)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 3

SPEAK THE TRUTH (7) was a runner up to Leap To Fame in his latest run in the final of the Inter Dominion after taking a sit on his back following a retake move from Don Hugo. Despite drawing widest in this race he is clearly the class runner in the field and should still be hard to beat in the race potentially doing all the work.

JIMARTEE (6) led and won the Inter Dominion Consolation last start when leading all the way to beat Nyack. He draws to advantage over Speak The Truth who is likely to start his closest market rival in Speak The Truth. He has good early speed and might be able to hold that advantage in the early stages.

TIMS A TROOPER (9) took on the Inter Dominion final last start and was competitive there not being beaten too far. He had been impressive in the heats leading into the final flashing into third in the second heat over 2680 to qualify for the final. If the speed is on early he can be running on late.

ROYAL CRUISER (2) led last start over the 1660 and was just run down late by Regazzo Di Tilly who had the cold sit on his back in that race. He draws to find the fence first again in this race and stepping up to the 2138 he will have options early whether to hold or hand over in what looks a much stronger race. He can be thereabouts with the right run.

SELECTIONS: SPEAK THE TRUTH (7), JIMARTEE (6), TIMS A TROOPER (9), ROYAL CRUISER (2)

SUGGESTED BET: TIMS A TROOPER (9) each way.

RACE 4

ZEALOUS SPUR (8) had very little luck over the heats and final of the Inter Dominion recently when drawing poorly and being held up a number of times. He has proven he is one of the very top trotters in QLD this time in when progressing through the grades as an older horse before taking on that Inter Dominion series. He faces a handicap this time stepping back to the stand start but he is generally a reliable beginner and should settle up close enough in the run. Should be hard to hold out again.

LOVE GUN (9) impressed in the first round of Inter Dominion heats when running into the placings there behind Parisian Artiste. Faced the breeze last start in the final over the 3100m journey and battled on well for fifth in that race. With a safe get away should be hard to beat.

VAN SANK (5) ran a good third two starts ago behind Izarra in the Redcliffe Cup from the stand start. He then took on another stand start last time out and was third again by McGee. He likes the stand starts and should be in the money again.

SHEZA CHANCE (2) was a good placing last start behind QLDs best trotter in Gus. She gets a key handicap advantage in this race and with a safe getaway could be hard to catch.

SELECTIONS: ZEALOUS SPUR (8), LOVE GUN (9), VAN SANK (5), SHEZA CHANCE (2)

SUGGESTED BET: ZEALOUS SPUR (8) to win.

RACE 5

IM BOO (1) has good early speed and seems to be racing in near career best form in recent times. He draws to lead in this race and that’s a position he has had plenty of success in previously. If he can lead he should be hard to run down.

MOTH HUNTER (8) was having his first run for Clint Petroff last start when first up in QLD and looked to be travelling well when running up behind horses last start in a solid quality race. Stepping up to the 2138 should be of no concern having run well over the journey previously. With luck he will be hard to hold out.

RESILIENT (3) was able to run a second to Im Boo a few starts ago at Marburg after getting the right run in the race. He has high speed and that should see him in the finish if the race is run to suit.

ARENDELLE (9) is in good form having won two of his last three starts. This is clearly his toughest test this campaign but does draw to have options early and should get a good run in the race.

SELECTIONS: IM BOO (1), MOTH HUNTER (8), RESILIENT (3), ARENDELLE (9)

SUGGESTED BET: MOTH HUNTER (8) to win

RACE 6

SHES FULLOFSPIRIT (2) took on a much stronger race last start taken out by subsequent Inter Dominion runner up Speak The Truth. That looks extremely strong form for this race where she drops back to racing the mares. She has good early speed and draws outside of a horse that is generally driven with cover. If she can led she should be hard to run down in this race.

LA DERNIERE (4) came from off the speed last start to sweep over the top and win dominantly. Her start prior she had worked off the gate early and appeared to over race badly setting quite a frantic tempo for the 2040 at Redcliffe and tiring late but was certainly entitled to. She draws somewhat awkwardly in this race but should be hard to beat again.

SWEET AGENDA (1) has early speed which should give her options in the early stages of this race. She hit the line strongly last start after starting from a poor draw behind Ever Art. She draws to get every chance in this race.

AURORA JOY (6) was a strong winner recently over the 2138 at this track after sitting off the speed and sweeping over the top late. She got back and ran on again last start in a race taken out by Golden Fire.

SELECTIONS: SHES FULLOFSPIRIT (2), LA DERNIERE (4), SWEET AGENDA (1), AURORA JOY (6)

SUGGESTED BET: SWEET AGENDA (1) each way.

RACE 7

MAJOR HOT (3) was left without cover last start over the 2138 at Albion Park battling on well there for third behind Lux Aeterna and Rocket City who he repossesses this time from a more favourable draw. He has good early speed and will likely look for the front early. If he can find the lead he looks clearly hardest to beat.

ATTACHMENT (5) lost the QLD Sun race on protest after shifting into the sprint lane up the home straight inconveniencing Call To Order and losing the race as a result five starts ago. That effort itself was terrific after burning off the gate early to find the top. He wasn’t suited last start when getting a long way back in a race that was run to suit the pegs taken out by The Janitor. He has high speed and despite the wider gate he should be right in the finish again.

ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (1) has good early speed and is generally a horse that does his best work on the pegs. He ran second behind Our Goat two starts ago when running on late from a midfield position off the pegs. He should secure an economical run in this race from the good draw and can be in the money again.

ROCKET CITY (8) should get a good run through on the back of a gate speed horse in Rocks Or Diamonds. He led last start and was beaten by Lux Aeterna who had a good trip 1-1. He is a horse with high speed and looks well suited in this race starting from soft draw.

SELECTIONS: MAJOR HOT (3), ATTACHMENT (5), ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (1), ROCKET CITY (8)

SUGGESTED BET: ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (1) to place.

RACE 8

COASTAL BABE (6) is a classy kiwi mare having her third QLD start in third QLD start in this race. She was a first up winner when defeating Gotta Hav Me over the 2138 zipping home a sharp last half. She was then defeated when running third last start when appearing a touch disappointing after starting a short priced favourite.

SWEET ADDITION (1) worked hard early last start to lead and was well beaten. Should do a lot less early work in this race and may elect to take a trail on the favourite which could see an improved version of the horse. Had been impressing prior to her last start run when hitting the line hard two back to run second.

GOTTA HAV ME (8) was a good second two starts ago behind Fact Finder at Redcliffe over the 2040 in fast overall time. She then took on a solid race over the mile last start and was a well beaten third behind La Derneire. She should get a good run through at the start on the back of a gate speed horse and if the runs appear at the right time she can be running into the money again.

MAJORITA JUJON (3) was sixth last start in a similar type of race behind La Derniere when racing off the pegs midfield. Her best run this time in was seemingly a close up second behind subsequent QLD Oaks winner Soho Americano. She is versatile and with the right run can figure in this race.

SELECTIONS: COASTAL BABE (6), SWEET ADDITION (1), GOTTA HAV ME (8), MAJORITA JUJON (3)

SUGGESTED BET: SWEET ADDITION (1) each way.
