Form Analysis: Lockyer August 24

RACE 1 

ICANANDIWILL (3) took on a much stronger race last start at Albion Park when running on late for fourth. She should secure a good run in this race from a low draw and if she does she should be hard to hold out late. 

GLENEAGLE HUNTER (1) ran well for second behind Stones last start and appears to be closing in on his better form again. He should secure a good run from the good gate in this race and can figure with the right run. 

ON THE RANK (2) showed early speed last start doing some early work before being left without cover and faded late as a result. With a more economical run in this race he should be thereabouts. 

KEAYANG LACEY (7) was a good third three starts ago in a fast mile rate for the grade set by Nitrator. That effort would easily be good enough to take out a maiden of this level.

SUGGESTED BET: ICANDANDIWILL (3) to win.

RACE 2 

KONNYMARA (7) swept home over the top last start to score a good win at Redcliffe rating a good last 800 for the grade despite being wide on the track.. He looks clearly the one to beat again in this race and looks suited by the back row draw where he can be saved up for one run again. 

PLANET DOWNS (6) draws somewhat awkwardly inside the back row. He has good ability and if the runs come at the right time he should be somewhere in the finish.

THREE CHORD RIFF (8) was somewhat disappointing starting a well supported favourite at Albion Park last start and being well beaten into sixth. She had run well for second her run prior and a similar effort should see her competitive in this race. 

RAINBOW GAMBLER (2) has early speed and may be able to find the pegs early. Would need to improve significantly to take this race out but could figure in the minor money.

SUGGESTED BET: KONNYMARA (7) to win.

RACE 3

CONVAIR HUSTLER (4) ran a strong second last start after sitting outside of Tracer Bullet at Redcliffe a horse which has since run well. He looks to have drawn the best of the main chances in this race and if he was able to lead he would be very hard to run down. 

CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN (5) ran a solid second two starts ago behind Dont Fear For Me at Redcliffe when sitting on that horses back in the run. He would be suited by a genuine early tempo and can be running on late. 

KEAYANG TARA (7) has placed in her last three outings and appears to be racing well. She closed off strongly last start behind Bokhari over the 2040 at Redcliffe.

MY ULTIMATE RUDI (6) appears to draw awkwardly in this race inside the back row but does look well graded in this race. He hasn’t been out of the top 4 in his past 4 outings including a close up third two starts ago behind Major Generaljujon.

SUGGESTED BET: CONVAIR HUSTLER (4) to win.

RACE 4 

BEACH MAGIC (3) was a good second two starts ago at Albion Park behind Pocket Book. He shouldn’t be far off them in the run and in this class of race he should be hard to hold out late. 

BEAU STEELE (2) was forced to race without cover last start at Redcliffe outside of Bokhari and got tired late when finishing outside of the placings. This may be a race where he can look for the front and if he was able to find that position he would likely be hard to beat. 

MY ULTIMATE COSSIE (6) was able to close best to score at Redcliffe when running past Prince Joy. He looks to have landed and awkward draw in this race and may be shuffled back in the early stages which could see him relying on luck to figure in the finish. 

ROCKNROLL DA GAMA (1) was running on late last start behind Bokhari at Redcliffe over the 2040. This race doesn’t look much tougher and he should be running on again from a good draw.

SUGGESTED BET: BEAU STEELE (2) to win. 

RACE 5

TEAM SPORT (4) was an impressive last start winner over Bronx after leading all the way at Redcliffe. He looks a standout in this race and can likely push forward and look for the lead again in this race. Should be hard to beat.

DANCIN DOLLY (8) was a winner two starts ago in a similar race to this one when running over the top late. She looks suited in this race from a draw where she won’t need to work early and can be running on late. 

JILLIBY PANDA (2) has good early speed and a low draw on the front row giving him options. He was able to place recently at Redcliffe at big odds when running on late into third. 

MARKSMAN (3) found the front last start at Redcliffe and ran well there to finish third which was seemingly a good step forward on his prior form. He may find it tougher to find the front in this race but with further improvement off his last start effort he should be thereabouts.

SUGGESTED BET: TEAM SPORT (4) to win. 

RACE 6 

OUR MAJOR DAY (5) draws widest in this race but is clearly the class runner. He took on a stand start at Albion Park last start taken out by Mydadsaid where he made an error at the start and was well beaten as a result. Can bounce back. 

MISTY CREEK (4) did too much work two starts ago and was well beaten there as a result before running much better last start after securing an economical run. Should be thereabouts in this small field. 

BONNIES CAM (3) has good early speed and draws to advantage over a few of his key rivals in this race. He ran a good race last start behind Nila Maree in fast time. 

HES SWEET (2) has good early speed and is a horse that excels when able to race up on speed, a position he could find in this race. He didn’t have much luck last start when drawing poorly and getting back in the run. 

SELECTIONS: OUR MAJOR DAY (5), MISTY CREEK (4), BONNIES CAM (3), HES SWEET (2)

SUGGESTED BET: OUR MAJOR DAY (5) to win. 

RACE 7

OUR DOLLY (8) has been well beaten in recent starts including last start where she did plenty of work at Redcliffe and was beaten 27.2 metres. She will find this race a lot easier and should be able to work to a position up on speed and be hard to beat.

ROCCO VARIETY (7) was closing off strongly late behind Hoiho and just wasn’t quite able to reel that horse in. Looks likely to secure a good run off the speed in this race and if the speed is on he should be running on late. 

SHES BEWITCHED (1) has gate speed and may look to hold the advantage on her rivals in this race. Her last win came at Redcliffe when closing off late to score. 

GRACENAVA (5) looks to be a long way back in grade in this race on some of her better efforts. She is a horse that is capable of doing work in her races when at her best which she will need to be in this race from the wide draw.

RACE 8

ARNOLD STREET (4) has very good gate speed and in a race where there doesn’t look to be any horses with brilliant early speed he might be able to zip across and prove hard to catch in this race. He has been racing in stronger fields and faced a back row draw last start at Albion Park which made it tough for him there. 

LYDIAS ART (1) handed over to Dream Melody last start at Redcliffe and ran a good second there having done some early work. Looks to have found another good opportunity to track the leader in this race and should be in the finish again. 

HANOVER LECTOR (2) worked to the lead last start and put in a run that was well below her best when fading out of it late. She is much better than that and anywhere near her best should see her hard to beat in this race. 

KELLOSHIEL (3) has been out of form in recent outings and finds herself in a more suitable race as a result. Her best is good enough.
