Form Analysis: Marburg August 31

RACE 1 

FUNTIMES (1) has the benefit of the inside draw and has some gate speed which could be crucial to her chances in this race. Appears to be one of the weaker maidens she has contested and if she is able to lead she should take some running down.

GIRAFFA (8) showed good ability last time in for a maiden while doing plenty wrong. It may be somewhat of a query whether he gets around the small circuit at Marburg when racing off the pegs but if he does he should be somewhere in the finish. 

KIPCHOGE (5) showed good gate speed early last start and was well beaten by Real Miki in a race that looked a lot stronger than this one. He is likely to have derived a lot of benefit from that outing and should be thereabouts in this race.

OUR LITTLE BANJO (4) was a solid third three starts ago when running on late behind Taken By Surprise at Redcliffe. He is likely to get back early and can be running on late.

RACE 2 

MELTON SCHLEGER (3) is a horse with good early speed but there is some query whether he can get across Rainbow Gambler in the early stages who is a horse with gate speed. Races well when able to find the rails and if he can find that position he should be hard to beat. 

PEPPA (2) is a capable horse that appears quite well graded in this race. She isn’t blessed with a great deal of gate speed which may see her shuffled back a touch in the early stages and she is generally a horse that goes much better on the fence. 

BELMER BETTY (8) numerically has been poor in her last few starts but she has been taking on much stronger company than this and appears quite well suited in this race. She will be hoping there is speed on early and she can be running on late. 

ELIARN (6) returns in this race and draws poorly inside the back row. She is a capable horse and if ready to go she can be running into it late if the gaps appear.

RACE 3

CRIME TIME (4) is a horse that generally does his best work when able to find a position up on speed. He did the work last time out at Redcliffe and was well beaten so will need to have improved from that effort but is likely to given he was first up from a spell there and drops in class into this race. 

OLD ENGLISH (5) lands in the stable of Ryan Vievers and is a horse with high speed. Made a break at the start last time out and can be forgiven for that effort. 

ESTIVAL (7) is first up for the stable of Ricky Hart in this race and draws to do no work early. Is a horse that has seemingly mixed her form and trialled poorly from the stand start. 

JILLIBY PANDA (3) is a horse with good gate speed and may look to push forward and race in a prominent position. Was a solid third two starts ago when not fancied in the market. This looks more suitable.

RACE 4 

IMPERIOUS (4) comes into this race first up for Jonah Hutchinson having made the move to QLD from NSW. Appears to bring some of the stronger form into this race and appears a horse with gate speed which may allow him to work forward and race in a prominent position which is always an advantage around Marburg. 

THREE CHORD RIFF (6) draws awkwardly inside the back row in this race following out a horse that’s likely to be one of the outsiders. She was a solid second three starts ago in a similar type of race and with luck can be thereabouts. 

KIWI ROYALTY (7) didn’t have much luck at Gatton last start when looking for the lead early before being left without cover. This race looks suitable if she can secure a more economical run.

MARKSMAN (9) was running on strongly last start to record his third consecutive third placing. Draws poorly in this race but has been going well and with a genuine early tempo can be running into it late.

SUGGESTED BET: IMPERIOUS (4) to win.

RACE 5

OUR DOLLY (8) bounced back to form last start at Gatton when running second. She is very capable at her best and is likely to be put into the race. With further improvement off last start in a suitable race she looks one of the horses to beat.

SKYLAR BREE (1) has good gate speed and can likely dictate in the early stages of this race. She was an eye catching fourth two starts ago when running on well late before being well beaten last start at Albion Park in a race taken out by Call It Bling who appears a smart horse. 

SHES BEWITCHED (6) secured a good run recently at Gatton and wasn’t beaten far running fourth. She looks likely to secure a good run leaders back on Skylar Bree who is a gate speed horse and if she gaps appear late she can be in the finish. 

ROYAL WINKLE (4) didn’t have a huge amount of luck last start when well beaten at Redcliffe. He steps back in distance and was a solid second two starts ago.

SUGGESTED BET: SKYLAR BREE (1) to win.

RACE 6 

ALWAYSMISSINGYOU (2) returned to form last start when taking the trail on Team Sport and being able to run over the top late. This looks a lot tougher this race but she is a horse that has shown ability at times and is likely to have the advantage of the pegs in the run. 

SKIPPERS SWAN SWONG (1) isn’t a horse blessed with much gate speed which could prove to be an issue having drawn gate 1 in a race where there is some early speed on the front row. If the race is run upside down and gaps appear at the right time she should be getting into it late.

LA SABINA (4) has early speed but does draw outside of a few horses with gate speed. Has been racing without a great deal of luck in recent starts and if she gets a touch more luck in this race she can be thereabouts.

TEACHERS PET (5) has been fair on return in two runs so far this time in. She comes into this race third up from a spell and appears to strike a suitable race despite the wide draw.

RACE 7

MAGICOL IDEAL (2) has good early speed and finds a race where it appears he is likely to be able to launch to the lead. He took on a race at Albion Park over the 2138 and was well beaten there but steps back in trip and finds an easier race here. 

ROYAL PRINCESS (3) worked hard last start when taken on through the middle of the race after leading. She is likely to be better for the run and coming into this third up from a spell should be nearing peak fitness. 

SHEREACTS (1) is likely to be crossed in the early stages of this race and she is generally best when able to dictate out in front. She was shuffled back last start and didn’t have a huge amount of luck there. 

TAYLORS FOUR (6) needs a lot of luck from the awkward draw following out a horse that doesn’t possess a huge amount of gate speed. Will need the race run to suit and luck at the right time to figure.

RACE 8

VINCENT TIME (1) may have the speed to hold the lead in the early stages which would see him become the one to beat. He is a capable front runner and has recorded 3 victories when able to find the front from his 7 overall wins. Should be hard to beat. 

SPLASHNDASH (7) took on a strong race last start where he did some early work in a race the leader set a strong tempo. He still finished off nicely there despite being involved in the early speed battle. Should get a good run through early and can be thereabouts late.

CONVINCED (2) has excellent gate speed but draws outside of a horse that also leaves the gate well. He lands straight in the running line and should be thereabouts again.

HES SWEET (8) took on a strong field at Gatton and drops back in grade in this race. The outside back row draw doesn’t look suitable for a horse that does his best work up on speed.
