A racehorse named in honour of AFL great Adam Goodes will be out to kick another goal at Warwick on Wednesday.

Goodes, who is trained by Cryna horsewoman Emma Fouchard, will be chasing his third win from his past four starts in the Benchmark 70 Handicap over 800 metres.

Goodes, the footballer, was a dual Brownlow medalist and premiership winner and was named Australian of the Year in 2014 for his efforts to fight racism and his work with Indigenous youth community programs.

On the track, Goodes is coming off a dominant win in an 860 metre Benchmark race at Gatton on July 10.

Former Victorian Fouchard was previously based at Ballarat in Victoria before moving to a property at Cryna, just outside Beaudesert.

She won her first race in Queensland when Goodes was successful in a Class 1 Handicap at Gatton in late May.

The 38-year-old hails from England and bought Goodes online after going winless in five starts in Victoria for former Gold Coast trainer Trent Edmonds.

“He’s very consistent and his last win at Gatton was very good,” Fouchard said.

“He was in at Warwick recently, but we were disappointed after drawing barrier one when the meeting was abandoned.

“He tries his heart out and we haven’t been unhappy in any of his runs since he came to us.”

Fouchard is married to Frenchman Pierre Fouchard and is bringing up two young girls while training and running a 150-acre property at Cryna.

“We came here in late October last year and we now have around eight horses in work, but we have 23 on the books, spelling and pre-training,” Fouchard said.

"It was a big gamble, but it’s been a great decision to move here from a place we were enjoying in Victoria.

“It’s a nice place to bring up the kids.”

Fouchard has booked Adin Thompson to again partner the five-year-old son of Written Tycoon.

“Adin has ridden Goodes a fair bit and has won on him twice, so he knows him well,” she said.

Ironically, Goodes could have been competing against Ablett, a namesake of another AFL great Gary Ablett, who was nominated for the same Warwick race.

The five-year-old Ablett also has starred on the country circuit.

He has won three of his past four starts including at Roma last Saturday for Chinchilla trainer Rodney Hay.

Hay did not accept for Wednesday's event with Ablett.
