RQ statement on Leanne Hartley
The Queensland racing industry is mourning the loss of Beaudesert thoroughbred trainer Leanne Hartley.
Earlier today, the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission were informed of a training accident in South East Queensland.
Queensland Police have reported her death as accidental.
“Our sincerest condolences are extended to Leanne’s family and friends, and our thoughts are with them during this tragic time,” Racing Queensland Acting CEO Lachlan Murray said.
“We expect every participant to be able to come home safe and sound and it is heartbreaking that we have lost one of our own today.”
Despite operating a small stable, Ms Hartley was in the winners’ stall twice this year with Crackenthorpe breaking his maiden on the Sunshine Coast before winning a Class 1 at the same track two starts later.
Having won a Deagon trial last week, Crackenthorpe was nominated to resume at the Sunshine Coast this Sunday.
