But, first Northern Pride will need to continue his consistent form in North Queensland.
Northern Pride was sent to Deagon trainer Darren Bell for the Magic Millions Country Cup in January this year and wasn’t disgraced finishing a brave sixth to the David Vandyke-trained Slippin’ Jimmy.
“We transferred him to Darren for his Brisbane campaign last summer, but he wasn’t quite up to them,” Button said.
“He might head that way again as he’s in good form at the moment and it’ll depend how he’s going closer to the time.”
Northern Pride has returned to his best form by winning two of his past three starts and is coming off a last start victory in a 1400 metre Open Handicap at Townsville on October 21.
