Despite her diminutive physique, Tip Alore Honey has a big heart and doesn’t give up easily.

According to Dalma trainer Amber Boody, this competitive mindset will serve her well over 510 metres at Rockhampton on Wednesday night.

Indeed, the two-year-old bitch never stopped chasing when she pulled off a memorable victory in the Central Queensland Futurity Final on October 29.

As a $51 outsider, she was five lengths behind early leader Dream Design, but stuck to her task and edged out Wyndra All Sass – for Amber’s nephew Ken Boody – on the line.

However, Boody is not getting carried away with the potential her juvenile chaser has shown, with three victories from her 15 starts so far.

“She’s going all right. It (race three on Wednesday night) is a pretty strong race. You’ve got Dish Liquor (for Darren Taylor),” she said.

“She’s all right. When she wants to put her mind to it, she will.”

Boody and her husband Michael were as pleasantly surprised as those who backed Tip Alore Honey at long odds after she saluted in the Central Queensland Futurity.

The race was worth $7,840 last month.

“Very surprised. We laughed and laughed and laughed, yes,” she said of the feature win.

Boody added what Tip Alore Honey lacks in stature, she makes up for it with the size of her heart, as evidenced by her triumph in the Futurity Final.

“Yes, she has got a big heart. Just see what happens and how she goes (on Wednesday night),” she said.

By Group 1-winner Flying Ricciardo and out of her broodbitch Butterfly Is She, Boody said Tip Alore Honey bore a resemblance to her dam who saluted on five occasions from 74 starts.

“She does look like her mother. She can run when she wants to. Mental traits, she can put her mind to it when she wants to,” she said.

“She’s no world beater, but she’s bread and butter.”

By Whiskey Riot and Flying Ricciardo respectively, Tijuana Twinkle and Riding Solo are other performing progeny out of Butterfly Is She, with 11 wins each.

Boody said Tip Alore Honey had the potential to be competitive at The Q.

“Yes of course (she can have a good future). We’ve just got to take her down and trial her at The Q,” she said.

“And, that takes a bit of effort because Mick’s got to drive down and I’ve got to do the dogs.”

Boody said Regal Wolf should also be competitive over 407 metres in race five on the eight-race card at Rockhampton on Wednesday night.

The 22-month-old dog will start from box one and has saluted in his past three consecutive starts.

The Central Queensland trainer said her chaser did not lack in strength.

“He’s a good bloke. He rips your arms off when you walk him,” she said.
