Form Analysis: Albion Park March 14

14 March 2026

RACE ONE

Placed in all three starts since changing stables, APPLIED (7) will need to be at its best to overcome this gate. Looming strongly and hitting the front after a tough run last start, he was grabbed in the very last stride by COOL NIGHT. Just a half-head from HUXTON the start prior, he will need to flex again here but is up to the challenge.

STRIKEM (8) will need a slice of luck at some stage to find clear space with track still to work with. Finding the front before releasing and then outsprinting them late two starts back, he backs up from Tuesday where gate 7 stung his chances as COTCHINELLIE dictated in a 51.2 mile. If the gaps open, he can challenge.

LA CAVALETTA (3) will strip fitter following his last start when first up in the Sunshine State. Angled to the inside from a second line gate, he closed off with some smart sectionals. With good hustle off the arm, if he were to touch down in front, he can give this a shake.

 SMARTER THAN YOU (9)
made good metres in the latter stages last start when midfield behind COOL NIGHT. A return to the mile and tempo will assist his hopes to launch a closing raid.

SELECTIONS: APPLIED (7), STRIKEM (8), LA CAVALETTA (3), SMARTER THAN YOU (9)
SUGGESTED BET: APPLIED (7) to win

RACE TWO

Shuffled three back along the poles from inside the second line last time out, COOL NIGHT (5) found a way clear at the 450 and when given open road, sprinted hard to arrive in the last stride. Midfield from a second line barrier behind TINDER SURPRISE the start prior, he can cash in here.

 BASILISK BOB (6)
was snagged off the gate from outside the front-line last time out over the mile. Attacking the line in the latter stages to be just a pimple away from victory, it had followed a smart effort over this trip from the second line. Despite another tough gate, he can challenge.

 HOLD ONTO YA BLING (1)
broke through in qualifying company here two starts back after tracking the speed from inside the second line. Runner-up from that same position last start, a similar trip can produce a similar result again.

 OZZIE PUNTA (11)
sat back in the pack off the second line last time out over this trip and when set free, had the speed to descend on them and claim the W. Runner-up the start prior, tempo will assist his claims.

SELECTIONS: COOL NIGHT (5), BASILISK BOB (6), HOLD ONTO YA BLING (1), OZZIE PUNTA (11)
 SUGGESTED BET:
COOL NIGHT (5) to win

RACE THREE

The best mare in Qld title has been a revolving door position for several years. On current performances, it is arguably POST PAINTER (3) that holds the crown off the back of four wins from her past five starts. Claiming an impressive 4m victory in 1.51.4 last time out, the start prior she was strong at 2138. From the gate, she can look to affirm the unofficial title.

 LUX AETERNA (2)
ships in for Rickie Alchin to a track where she has produced two victories in seven attempts. Claiming the Forever Gold back in December from the pocket trail, her past three starts have been behind HI MANAMEISJEFF, CAPTAINS MISTRESS and in the Newcastle Mile behind BULLETPROOF BOY. She has the gate to throw it down.

 PLATINUM JEWEL (1)
has started 2026 in fine style, hitting the board in six of eight, which includes four wins with the past two in succession. Darting through on the passing lane last week to score, she has all the options to feature.

 SOAP OPERA (8)
maps for an economical trip and on paper this looks set to generate a strong tempo. If it meets that expectation, the fence will be a great place, and she will be searching for space.

SELECTIONS: POST PAINTER (3), LUX AETERNA (2), PLATINUM JEWEL (1), SOAP OPERA (8)
 SUGGESTED BET:
Exotics 2-3 / 1-2-3-8

RACE FOUR

Showing the speed out of the machine to take control from gate 5 here two starts back, TINDER SURPRISE (1) put on a power running display. Despite the 26.8 opening panel, he still produced a 54.6 last 800 to put an 8m winning margin on the board. Beaten by the gate last start, he can dictate here.

 CHECKNOUTTHETALENT (8)
secures options as the lone second line runner but does have the benefit of following a fast beginner. Having an early shot last start but forced to ease to the running line, he finished rearward behind EXCLUSIVE HUSTLER. The map is more kind here.

 EXCLUSIVE HUSTLER (4)
eased from gate 6 here two starts back and tracking into the race strongly over the closing stages, pulled clear late to post a 5m victory. Positioning cheaply will be key.

 CONGO LINE (5)
was shuffled three back along the markers from inside the second line last time out before finishing 6m from the winner DASHING. Runner-up from the pocket trail the start prior, any tempo assists his run on claims.

SELECTIONS: TINDER SURPRISE (1), CHECKNOUTTHETALENT (8), EXCLUSIVE HUSTLER (4), CONGO LINE (5)
 SUGGESTED BET:
TINDER SURPRISE (1) to win

RACE FIVE

Holding up early before taking cover at 2138 last time out, ROCK HAMMER (1) finished midfield in strong time for the trip. Buried from inside the second line two starts back and holding 3rd, he can keep them wide and from the front, can give them the target to gun down.

 VINSANITY (8)
has not really had much in his favour in five runs for the year, the latest when shuffled out of contention from this same gate. Eased back from gate 7 and trying to make a late raid but unable to get warm the start prior, he can stalk and look to take the snipers shot.

 PUNTERS JEWEL (9)
eased into the running line from an awkward gate last start when finishing 5m from the winner SON OF THE SHARK. Runner-up to that same winner three back, he can follow through to chime in here.

 COUNTY COURT JUDGE (3)
made an error from the inside gate three starts back and was slugged with the ODM embargo. Strong late when 4m from subsequent winner COTCHINELLIE two starts back, he is a podium player here.

SELECTIONS: ROCK HAMMER (1), VINSANITY (8), PUNTERS JEWEL (9), COUNTY COURT JUDGE (3)
 SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SIX

Making the most of this same gate last week at 2138, ATTACHMENT (1) set a steady opening half, before the ribbons were cut at the half. Setting a sizzling 53.5 closing 800, he led every stride bar the one that counted when beaten a blister. He may need to opt for a retake, but with 2cm of improvement, can take this.

 HECTOR (5)
should appreciate the drop into the Junior FFA after tackling open company in recent weeks. Finishing 4th and beaten similar margins in each of the past three start, he has been on the fence and searching for gaps. Positioning cheaply, he can throw it down here.

 TURN IT UP (6)
showed his gate speed is still a factor to find the front from gate 4 last time out before releasing at the 1000. Darting through and looking the winner, he was collared in the last stride by WHOS DELIGHT. Similar tactics can see him feature again.

 MULLUM HANK (2)
found the pocket trail last start and trying to launch a closing raid was 4m from the winner DASHING. A similar margin away two starts back, he can be close enough to chime in.

SELECTIONS: ATTACHMENT (1), HECTOR (5), TURN IT UP (6), MULLUM HANK (2)
 SUGGESTED BET:
  ATTACHMENT (1) to win

RACE SEVEN

Placed in both starts on this deck with both off the second line, DRAW A DREAM (1) can capitalise on the improved gate that presents here. Eased off the inside into the running line last start when 3rd to ILOVEACALENDARGIRL, the first up effort behind SHES CRUNCHY was strong and with the speed to utilise the options, can capitalise.

 TOUGH SHAZ (2)
will benefit from the improved gate after facing gate 7 in both appearances since arriving with the Turpin stable. Easing across to find 1x1 cover last time, it was always an uphill battle with the leader dictating. A gritty effort first up, she can issue the challenge.

 SENSATIONALIZE (5)
made her first Qld appearance in a UDC heat when finishing down the line behind MAJOR CRUNCH. Back to mare’s company will assist her podium claims.

 LULLABY (6)
produced some impressive sectional figures last week when attacking the line late to grab 2nd behind MARDIBRINGSAPARTY. With the same gate impeding her chances once again, place claims appear best.

SELECTIONS: DRAW A DREAM (1), TOUGH SHAZ (2), SENSATIONALIZE (5), LULLABY (6)
 SUGGESTED BET:
DRAW A DREAM (1) to win

RACE EIGHT

Chasing a hat-trick of victories, ILOVEACALENDARGIRL (4) has improved every time she has stepped out for the new stable. Runner-up to SWEET DIOR at her first appearance, the second up run was a 13m highlighted by a dictating 54.7 closing half. Finding the front and fending them off from this gate last week, the threepeat is achievable.

 A PERFECT DANCE (1)
receives the mapping favours and has enough early speed to dictate her position. A gritty effort three back behind PLATINUM JEWEL, her next start was behind the airborne POST PAINTER. The improved gate and right trip can see her issue the challenge.

 CREDULOUS (3)
was exposed early before gaining running line cover and grabbing the bronze here last week behind DAISY DIANA. Eased from a wide gate before hitting the line strongly here two starts back and under 4m from ZAHRA LOU, she can feature prominently here.

 OHANA DANCER (2)
capitalised to claim a mare’s qualifier three starts back when taking them all the way from this same gate. A wide gate stung last start but settling handy will assist her chances here.

SELECTIONS: ILOVEACALENDARGIRL (4), A PERFECT DANCE (1), CREDULOUS (3), OHANA DANCER (2)
 SUGGESTED BET:
Exotics 1-2-3-4
