Trainer T. Cowan advised that he left the instructions up to Jockey A. Mallyon, however, expected him to be in a forward position. He added that due to the speed in the race, he felt that the field would come back mid-race and allow MOET AT MIDNIGHT to hold a forward position. He further added he was mindful from the wide barrier that the gelding may be caught wide, however was somewhat surprised to see the horse back towards the rear of the field. Trainer T. Cowan indicated that whilst the gelding finished the race off well, it was now his intention to step MOET AT MIDNIGHT up in distance. Stewards noted the explanations tendered. Trainer T.
