GENERAL
Maranoa and District Race Club- 18 October 2025
Race 4- Jky J Molloy- AR190(3)- Overweight- Severe Reprimand. When considering penalty Stewards considered Jky Molloy’s excellent record in relation to the rule over an extensive period of time, his forth right evidence and comments relating to the engagement by Trainer Mr B Waldron.
Due to Appr Jky J Metcalfe having to ride in Toowoomba in Race 1 this evening, Stewards permitted her to be replaced in Race 5- ROIGARD by Jky M Savva, due to no Apprentice Jockeys being available.
Race 1: PB AGRIFOOD MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
PRIVET- Jumped in the air at the start.
VIZSTAR- Slow to begin.
BELTONE- Began awkwardly when the mare made contact with the barriers. Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Failed to improve into the race despite the rider’s efforts to do so. On returning to scale Appr Jky S Callow reported that he mount’s allocated gate failed to open with the field and placed her at a substantial disadvantage in this event. After viewing the surveillance footage available and obtaining evidence from all parties, Stewards acting under the provision of AR204 declared BELTONE a non-runner due to the failure of the allocated barrier gate to open in sync with the rest of the field and, as a result ordered that all monies invested on BELTONE be refunded in full less the following deductions-
Winner- FANCI FLEUR- W- 46c Pl- 25- 2nd Pl-OVERDOIT- 25- 3rd Pl- GLUTTONY- 25c.
Stewards subsequently declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judge/s. Stewards ordered a post-race Veterinary examination be undertaken on BELTONE, this examination revealed the Mare was “tied up” post-race and required veterinary treatment. It is under Veterinary advice that this condition would have contributed to the horse’s disappointing performance today restricting its ability to stretch out fully and improving into the race at any stage. Stewards later spoke with Trainer Mr D Baker who advised the horse has pulled up well but would likely be sent out for a spell. Mr Baker was advised by Stewards acting under the provision of AR75(2) that a Vet Clearance would be required prior to the Mare racing again.
RUPEEZY- Began awkwardly. Bumped with GLUTTONY shortly after the start. Laid in while racing in the home straight before being corrected by the rider

VALOUR VICTORIOUS- Began awkwardly.

DUCK OUT- Began Awkwardly when the mare reared as the start was being affected and then raced wide for the majority of the event. After consultation with Trainer Ms N Hemmings placed a Warning on the horse for its barrier manners.

Stewards spoke with Appr Jky S Pointon regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of the gelding. Ms Pointon advised after her mount missed the start it failed to improve into the race despite her best efforts and may not have been suited by the racing conditions today. Stewards spoke later with Trainer Mr T Dougall advised that once he missed the start and was wide, he never recovered. He’s more suited to the softer surfaces but once he got back the whole momentum of his race had changed. Mr Dougall advised MR WANDJI pulled up well after the race with no adverse effects of the run.
