Correct weight was delayed allowing both Matthew McGillivray, rider of BLUEPRINT and Stewards to view footage of the start. Once both parties were satisfied, correct weight was declared on the judges’ semaphored numbers.

BLUEPRINT – Began very awkwardly. Raced keenly when crowded for room in the early stages. Shifted ground under pressure in the home straight. Performed below market expectations. Rider M. McGillivray stated that after beginning awkwardly, the gelding settled further back than anticipated, however he was pleased with how his mount finished off the event. He further added he was not dissatisfied with overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

Park advised the mare would now be retired. Notwithstanding this advice, trainer B. Apprentice O’Donnell’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, from the 5th June 2023 up to and including 14th June 2023, commencing at the completion of a previous suspension incurred at Toowoomba on 20 May 2023. In determining penalty, Stewards considered Apprentice O’Donnell’s guilty plea, her recent record in relation to the rule, as well as the degree of carelessness and severity of interference which were deemed to be in the upper-end of low range.
