SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Sunshine Coast Barrier Trials Tuesday 11 November 2025 Trial 7
Following the running of this Trial Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred approaching the 700m. After taking evidence from Jockey J Guthman- Chester (FERINO) and Apprentice R Thorburn (HIDEYO), in the presence of Jockey P Hamblin, Apprentice Thorburn pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) in that he did ride in a careless manner when approaching the 700m, whilst steading his mount HIDEYO, he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of FERINO, causing that horse to clip the heels of HIDEYO, blunder and lose ground, causing HIDEYO to receive a laceration injury to the near hind leg. Apprentice Thorburn’s license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 19/11/25 and to conclude midnight 29/11/25. Subsequent to this incident HIDEYO was assessed by the oncourse veterinary surgeon who diagnosed that the laceration injury involved the tendon and HIDEYO was immediately taken to the vet hospital adjacent to the Sunshine Coast Turf Club for further assessment and treatment.
