GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweights:
 
Race 2: B. Lerena (+0.5kg) 55.5kg
Race 2: A. Sewell (+0.5kg) 54.5kg
Race 2: A. Mallyon (+0.5kg) 54.5kg
 
Prior to the running of Race 1, Stewards inspected the track and upgraded it to a Good 4 at 10:45am.
 
 
Race 1: XXXX BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP    1000 M

HOLY RACKET (NZ) – Passing the 600m, shifted in marginally.

FIND YOUR OWN – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped DELEXO.
 
OVERFULL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 600m to the inside of HOLY RACKET (NZ), which shifted in marginally.  Over-raced throughout the event. Leaving the 300m, raced in restricted room for a short distance to the inside of HOLY RACKET (NZ), which shifted in marginally under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer P. Robl was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).  
 
OUTWEIGHED – A post-race veterinary examination revealed heat stress. Trainer P. Barron advised Stewards that the mare would now be retired.
 
DELEXO – Bumped on jumping away. Passing the 600m, was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of OVERFULL which was carried in by HOLY RACKET (NZ), which shifted in marginally. Apprentice R. Thorburn the rider of HOLY RACKET (NZ), was advised to exercise greater care when allowing his mounts to shift ground in similar circumstances.


Race 2: NOVA 106.9 CLASS 3 HANDICAP      1800 M

NOBLE CONQUEROR – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. When asked to comment on today’s improved performance, stable representative B. Killian advised that the stable were reluctant to step NOBLE CONQUEROR up in distance beyond a mile, however after two poor performances, elected to step the gelding up to 1800m, and in his opinion the fact that NOBLE CONQUEROR was able to settle and not over-race, resulted in the gelding being able to finish off today’s race.
 
EL PENSADOR – Jockey A. Jones dropped her whip near the 300m.
 
TORO STRIKE – When asked to comment on the performance of TORO STRIKE, Jockey A. Mallyon reported that in his opinion the gelding may be better suited to less distance than today’s event.
 
SANCTUARY STORM – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance of SANCTUARY STORM, Jockey D. Moor reported that in his opinion the gelding may be better suited to less distance than today’s event.


Race 3: SEASON GREETINGS FROM BRC CLASS 3 HANDICAP   1200 M


LOVEWILLCOMELATER – Bumped shortly after the start. Apprentice B. Nock reported at scale that his mount commenced to weaken when placed under pressure in the home straight and that he became concerned with the action of the gelding and as a result elected not to place LOVEWILLCOMELATER under pressure over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer J. Lee was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).  

TEN GOOD REASONS (NZ) – Hampered on jumping away. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 600m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

DE FORZA – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
BLITZUM – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped LOVEWILLCOMELATER.

AITUTAKI – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.
 
ALTERMATUM – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Approaching the 800m, lost its off-side winker. On entry to the home straight, was momentarily inconvenienced and obliged to shift wider when hampered by DE FORZA, which shifted out.    


Race 4: BECOME A BRC MEMBER BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP   1600 M

THAT'S MOLLY – Hampered on jumping away. Laid out rounding the turn from the 800m.

WAPITI – Shifted out shortly after the start. Over-raced in the early stages.

PASIMA – Jockey M. Rodd was fined $100 pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m on two occasions.

KORUTO – Bumped with NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) shortly after the start.
 
NAILS MURPHY (IRE) – Apprentice B. Nock pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 8 times prior to the 100m, 17 times in totality. Apprentice B. Nock’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days, with the suspension to commence midnight the 27th December 2025 and to conclude midnight 4th of January 2026. In determining penalty, stewards took into consideration the QRIC whip penalty guidelines.

NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) – Bumped with KORUTO shortly after the start.
 
ARCHER'S GAME – Jockey A. Jones reported at scale that in her opinion ARCHER’S GAME may not have appreciated todays track conditions.  When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today, Jockey A. Jones explained that from a favorable barrier and after beginning well with little speed shown by other runners, she elected to allow her mount to settle in a forward position. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.


Race 5: CRICKS HIGHWAY BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP          1400 M


LIVING FREE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped HELLA FAST. Raced wide.

MINTAKA LAD - Over-raced in the middle stages.

ESJAY– Raced wide. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted today, Apprentice J. Franklin stated that he anticipated settling in a leading position to the outside of KODIAK, however after beginning only fairly, found himself in a wide position in the early stages. He further added that passing the 1000m, when attempting to improve into a position one off the fence, forward of SENESCHAL (IRE), RUINS OF ROME shifted off the fence for a short distance, resulting in ESJAY being unable to obtain cover. When questioned if Apprentice J. Franklin had the opportunity to make use of his mount in the early stages and obtain the position HELLA FAST was able to establish, he stated that given ESJAY was on a seven day back up, was mindful not to make use of his mount too early and as such, elected to ride his mount where comfortable in a three wide position. Stewards noted the explanation of Apprentice J. Franklin.
 
KODIAK – Jockey C. Graham reported at scale that she became concerned with the action of the gelding and as such elected not to place KODIAK under pressure over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

HELLA FAST – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted today, Jockey D. Moor explained that after beginning well, and with good pace shown, he elected to drive forward rather than being caught wide and settle in forward position with cover.
 
SENESCHAL (IRE) - Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
GREY ICE (NZ) – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 200m after GALWAY HUSSLER shifted out marginally.

ENTERPRISE ATTACK – Raced wide.

RUINS OF ROME – Jockey K. Wilson Taylor reported that after taking hold passing the 1000m, his mount shifted out at the point of the turn before being corrected.         
 
SILVER WEDDING – Began awkwardly. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.
 
CONNEWARRE – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after. Jockey M. Du Plessis reported at scale that his mount changed legs throughout the event and in his opinion may not have appreciated today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.


Race 6: SEVEN GRAND PRIX STAKES 1800 M

JOHN DORY (NZ) – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that JOHN DORY (NZ) would attempt to settle forward of midfield if circumstances permit. Settled midfield. Jockey R. Maloney reported that his mount felt awkward in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress.

MATIAS – Began awkwardly and was then inconvenienced shortly after.

TOBY'S TRUSTY – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages.

AGENT ZERO – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1200m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of KOZAK PRINCE.

LYNEHAM – Jockey M. Harley reported at scale that he became concerned with the colt’s action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress.

KOZAK PRINCE – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted today, Jockey J. Bayliss explained that his instructions were, from a wide barrier to be positive, and as such he expected to settle further forward than KOZAK PRINCE’s last start. He further added after being caught wide early, he elected ride forward and take up a leading position. Trainer J. Bayliss stated that it was his intention for KOZAK PRINCE to settle further forward, similar to its winning performance at the Sunshine Coast, but was surprised to see the gelding leading today’s event. Stewards reminded Trainer J. Bayliss of his obligations pursuant to AR100(1)(a) in that he is required to notify Stewards of any change of tactics.

 
SEVILO (NZ) - Restrained from a wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail.
 
BIRD WHISTLE – Apprentice B. Nock reported at scale that he was obliged to make use of his mount early and that in his opinion the filly may not have appreciated today’s track conditions.

NIGHTLINE (NZ) – Raced wide. Jockey M. Du Plessis explained that after being caught wide, he was obliged to make use of his mount early, which may have had a detrimental effect on its finishing efforts. He further added that in his opinion, NIGHTLINE (NZ) may not have appreciated today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress.
 
HIGHGROVE ROSE – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.

STATE OPERA) – Near the 1400m, whilst over-racing, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of TAMBELOA, which shifted in. Jockey C. Graham the rider of TAMBELOA was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance passing the 300m.


Race 7: LADBROKES GOLD EDITION PLATE 1200 M
 
Correct weight was delayed, allowing Jockey R. Dolan, the rider of fifth placegetter DAMIEN, to view the stewards patrol footage to determine whether there were grounds to lodge a protest against fourth placed SPANISH TREASURE. After viewing the replays, Jockey R. Dolan elected to not proceed with a protest, therefore correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings.

GRAFTERBURNERS – Passing the 1000m, raced in restricted room for a short distance to the inside of DAMIEN, resulting in both runners making contact. Laid out in the early part of the home straight before being corrected. Passing the 200m, commenced to shift in under riding.
 
DAMIEN – Inconvenienced passing the 1000m after being contacted by GRAFTERBURNERS which improved to the geldings inside. Passing the 800m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of SHADWELL LANE.

PRESTAR – Hampered passing the 150m by DAMIEN which shifted out after being contacted by SPANISH TREASURE, which shifted out abruptly.
 
SPANISH TREASURE – Began awkwardly. Passing the 500m shifted out momentarily, contacting DAMIEN resulting in the gelding becoming awkward in its stride. Commenced to lay out passing the 250m, before shifting out abruptly, making heavy contact with DAMIEN.       
 
ICARIAN DREAM – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
SHENANDOAH RIVER - Over-raced in the middle stages.   

SYLPH – Over-raced in the middle stages. Passing the 800m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of DAMIEN. Momentarily held up or clear running passing the 300m.
 
SHADWELL LANE – Jockey A. Mallyon reported at scale that it was not his intention to settle in a forward position, however after beginning well he elected to allow his mount to stride forward.


Race 8: MORETON HIRE LOUGH NEAGH STAKES  1300 M

OUGHTON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
COCO JAMBOO (IRE) – Leaving the 1000m, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of BOOM TORQUE, which was carried in by ANEMACORE (NZ), which shifted in marginally. Jockey M. Rodd the rider of ANEMACORE (NZ) was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
ACCREDITED – When asked to comment on the performance of ACCREDITED, Jockey D. Moor reported that in her opinion the gelding may appreciate tracks with more give in them. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BOOM TORQUE – Bumped with NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY shortly after the start.

LISZTOMANIA - Inconvenienced shortly after the start.
 
NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY – Bumped with BOOM TORQUE shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

After the running of this race, Stewards upgraded the track to a Good 3 at 4:39pm.  

Race 9: SKY RACING OPEN HANDICAP         1800 M


WALSH BAY – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
SIBAAQ (GB) – Laid in in the early part of the home straight. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance of SIBAAQ (GB), Trainer D. Maher stated that he wasn’t overly disappointed with SIBAAQ (GB)’s last start at Eagle Farm where the gelding was inclined to over-race and with the step up in distance and step down in class, the stable was confident of a more forward showing today.
 
YET HE MOVES – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover.
 
GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) - Connections advised of a change of tactics in that GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) would attempt to settle with cover. Ridden accordingly.
 
WARP SPEED – Began awkwardly.      
 
AUTUNNO – Slow to begin.        


Race 10: MAGIC MILLIONS QTIS BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP          1200 M


HATCHET – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SAILOR'S SECRET – Raced in restricted room whilst weakening passing the 200m. Dropped his inside rein near the 150m.
 
JOHN RAMBO – Passing the 300m, was obliged to alter course and shift in to obtain clear running.

BOSSED UP – Blundered on jumping away and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BOHEMIAN LAD – Slow to begin.
 
SUPERALLOY - Began awkwardly. Raced wide.
 
DREAM SMART – Over-raced in the middle stages.
