Race 1: RQ 2025 NAIDOC CELEBRATION RACE BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 800 Metres
KING INVINCIBLE (NZ) – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after contacting a gate on leaving the enclosure and was cleared to start.
BRAIDWOOD PRINCE – Slow to begin. Commenced to over race approaching the 400m becoming momentarily awkward in its action. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
EGZAKLY – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels of BRAIDWOOD PRINCE approaching the 400m. Brushed near the 75m.
WENDT – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
SUPER EXCEPTIONAL – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after having not raced for a significant period of time and was cleared to start. Stood flatfooted as the start was effected, began very awkwardly and lost significant ground. Trainer J. Sims was advised that SUPER EXCEPTIONAL would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Brushed with EGZAKLY near the 75m.
Race 2: A AND M CIVIL CONTRACTING BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
SINGULAR – When asked to comment on the performance, rider S. Sheargold reported that the gelding was disappointing in its finishing effort however stated that SINGULAR had to work hard from the wide barrier to obtain a forward position, which may have had an detrimental effect on its finishing effort.
BEE EXACT – Began awkwardly and bumped with CHOCKABLOCK. Raced keenly during the early stages. Steadied from the heels of DELORIS which shifted out from the heels of SINGULAR which shifted out slightly, and obliged to alter course to obtain clear running.
SILVER GLITTER – Hampered between runners on jumping and lost ground.
CHOCKABLOCK – Bumped on jumping. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance, trainer W. Nugent reported that the mare has been pleasing in its trackwork of late and he was confident of an improved performance today. He added that, in his opinion, CHOCKABLOCK may not have appreciated the tight turning track of Kilcoy at its previous start.
DELORIS – Began awkwardly. Shifted wider leaving the 200m around the heels of SINGULAR when that runner shifted out marginally. Jockey S. Sheargold, rider of SINGULAR, was advised to exercise care in shifting ground in future.
Race 3: JONATHON ROSS MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP 1200 Metres
UNLEASH – Raced in restricted room leaving the 700m. When asked to comment on the performance, rider C. Bayliss reported that UNLEASH was first up today and with the weight impost of 61kg, this may have had an effect on the mare’s effort over the concluding stages.
MOORABINDA MICK – Raced wide throughout.
GALEKA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 4: QUINNY'S 80TH LAP QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1460 Metres
MISHANI REACTOR – Raced wide during the early stages.
CITY SUN – Apprentice J. Busuttin was fined $200 pursuant to AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim her full allowance. Commenced to lose ground from the 1100m. A post race veterinary examination revealed off hind laceration consistent with being galloped on. Trainer K. Afford was advised that CITY SUN would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Mr Afford was also advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s record for poor performance.
FLY MISS ARTIE – Began awkwardly.
MISHANI EMPIRE – Fractious in the barriers. Trainer D. Stanbridge was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the filly. Raced wide for the majority.
MESA VERDE – Slow to begin and then bucked on several occasions shortly thereafter. Trainer R. Warzecha was advised that MESA VERDE would be required to barrier trial to Stewards satisfaction prior to racing again.
Race 5: BRISBANE VALLEY ROASTERS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1460 Metres
ROMAN DAGGER (NZ) – Slow to begin.
CLUSTER'S REIN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide during the early stages.
STOP THE TAPE – When asked to comment on the performance, rider J. Stanley reported that despite racing wide, the gelding felt flat today and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
CRAZY EYED FRED – Due to an engagement in race 1 at Toowoomba, apprentice S. Willis was replaced by jockey N. Fazackerley due to no other apprentices being available. Apprentice Willis was reprimanded pursuant to AR127(1) for failing to fulfill an engagement. Bumped shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Improved onto the heels of the tiring THE SHAMAN near the 300m and had to be steadied.
ACES UP (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
