Race 1: BROWN, MACAULAY & WARREN CLASS B HANDICAP 850 M
DENMAN AVENUE Slow to begin. Altered course across the heels of SHUBMAN when that horse laid out near the 200m.
JUDY JETSON Raced wide.
SHE’S HELLBENT Slow to begin. Rider reported that in her opinion, the mare didn’t handle today’s sand track conditions and K Gates stated that she opted to shift wider to avoid the sand kick back.
TINKERTINO Hung out rounding the home turn.
Race 2: BMWCA THE DOUBLE ENTRY BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1030 M
HOLIDAY DREAMS Slow to begin.
HEAT Slow to begin. When asked to comment on performance, apprentice J Busuttin stated that in her opinion the gelding proved disappointing in today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
JAIN Rider reported that once JAIN gained cover, in his opinion the mare didn’t appreciate the sand kick back in today’s event. He also stated that his saddle shifted in the home straight.
Race 3: BMW ACCOUNTANTS CLASSIC QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1170 M
HOT CONQUEST Blundered coming out the barriers. Rider reported that in her opinion the gelding didn’t appreciate the sand kick back in today’s event.
PANTHER POWER Inconvenienced at the start when PRIDE OF NASHVILLE shifted in.
POTENCO Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to becoming fractious enroute to the course and was found to have abrasions to both sides of the geldings’ neck and a laceration to the near foreleg and was declared a late scratching at 2pm on veterinary advice.
PRIDE OF NASHVILLE Began awkwardly and shifted in at the start. Was inclined to lay in throughout the event.
TRIBESMAN Inconvenienced at the start when PRIDE OF NASHVILLE shifted in. Rider reported that in her opinion, the colt didn’t appreciate the sand kick back in today’s event.
BRAIDWOOD ROSE Rider reported that the filly weakened from the 600m and was inclined to lay out in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had lost a tooth cap, and it was recommended under veterinary advice that BRAIDWOOD ROSE have some routine dental examination. Trainer M Bailey advised that it would be his intention to send BRAIDWOOD ROSE for a spell. Prior to the running of race 3 today, apprentice J Busuttin advised stewards that she would not be able to make the allocated weight on BRAIDWOOD ROSE and was replaced by jockey R Wilson. Apprentice J Busuttin pleaded guilty to a charge and fined the sum of $400 pursuant to AR190(3) in that she accepted rides when overweight, resulting in her having to be replaced on BRAIDWOOD ROSE, and also being 1kg overweight in race five when engaged on OUTBURST.
Race 4: BMWCA VIP CLIENTS RACE RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP 1170 M
MAJESTICS REQUEST Rider reported that in her opinion the gelding didn’t appreciate today’s sand track conditions.
NINE CIGARS Rider reported that the gelding failed to keep up with the fast early tempo and in his opinion, didn’t handle today’s sand track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
PABALLO Trainer T Thomas was issued with a reprimand pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting PABALLO with the incorrect gear.
LATE NIGHT DEVIL Rider reported that the mare failed to keep up with the fast early tempo.
MAXIE TAP (NZ) Slow to begin. Trainer T Thomas was issued with a reprimand pursuant to LR67(1) for the late rider declaration for MAXIE TAP (NZ).
PLAYFUL PASSION Slow to begin. Apprentice J Busuttin pleaded guilty to a charge and fined the sum of $500 pursuant to AR143(14)(a) in that she failed to claim her full riding allowance and could only claim 0.5kg’s on PLAYFUL PASSION.
YUMUMZA Slow to begin.
Race 5: BROWN, MACAULAY & WARREN ACCOUNTANTS GYMPIE CUP/COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUAL OPEN HANDICAP 1600M
WITHOUT REVENGE (GB) Rider reported that WITHOUT REVENGE didn’t appreciate the fast tempo of today’s event and was obliged to place pressure on the gelding throughout, in attempt to hold a position. In his opinion this had a detrimental effect on WITHOUT REVENGE’s overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
I SEE YOU COMING Rider reported that his saddle had shifted back in today’s event.
PRIMARY WITNESS Rider reported that the gelding was inclined to hang out throughout the event.
OUTBURST Prior to the running of race 5 today, apprentice J Busuttin advised stewards that she would not be able to make the allocated weight of 55kgs. Stewards, taking into consideration that there was no other available rider, permitted apprentice J Busuttin to ride OUTBURST 1kg overweight at 56kg. A post-race veterinary examination at the request of the trainer M Lakey revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate.
RUMBLING AWAY A post-race veterinary examination at the request of trainer J Capewell, revealed the gelding to have heat stress.
MISHANI REACTOR Weakened near the 650m. Rider reported that in her opinion the gelding felt uncomfortable in its action in today’s event. Stewards have requested that trainer B Gorman report back on the geldings’ post-race recovery in the coming days. Trainer explained that it will be his intention to send MISHANI REACTOR for a short spell.
