SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB SUNDAY 14TH DECEMBER 2025 Race 7: CHAMPAGNE ROUGE
 
Trainer representative N. Boyle, advised stewards that the mare had recovered well from its disappointing performance with no adverse findings found in the subsequent days and the stable would continue its current preparation.
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight:
 
Race 3: Jockey A. Thompson +1kg (55kg)  
 
As Apprentice O. Kendal was ill she was replaced as per the race day summary. Apprentice O. Kendal was advised that a medical certificate would be required prior to racing again.
 
As Jockey B. Thornton experienced transportation difficulties, he was replaced in Race 2 as per the race day summary.
 
Race 1: TAB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE          1680 M

 
ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Near the 200m, bumped with SECRET FENKEL when attempting to shift wider to obtain clear running and became momentarily unbalanced before shifting in to secure clear running. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted today, Jockey J. Bayliss explained that rather than be caught wide, he allowed his mount to stride forward and take up a position outside of the lead near the 1200m. He further added that near the 700m, he elected to take cover when CHANCE DE LUNE improved to his outside, shortly thereafter became pocketed when MY CHARM improved to his outside and then had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 200m. Trainer K Schweida advised that his instructions were to settle midfield, however with little pace shown by other runners and from a wide barrier he was not displeased to see ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR settle in a forward position. Stewards when considering the tactics adopted by Jockey J. Bayliss were of the view that he may have erred in his decision making to take cover near the 700m when the tempo of the race was not strong however when considering in totality noted his explanation.
 
DWAYNETHEROC – Made the crossing awkwardly. Near the 850m, when the pace of the race slackened, was inconvenienced when awkwardly placed at the heels of SECRET FENKEL when that runner shifted in.
 
SECRET FENKEL – Improved onto heels when the pace of the race slackened and momentarily shifted out before shifting back in again. Near the 200m, was bumped by ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR and became unbalanced momentarily. Jockey J. Bayliss the rider of ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for
 
 
TRUST IN THE ROCK – Jumped the crossing. Steadied from heels near the 850m when the pace of the race slackened. Had to be steadied from heels near the 200m when ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR shifted in.

BRITISH GEM – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight before being disappointed for a run near the 100m. Held up for the remainder of the event.

MY CHARM – Slow to begin. Near the 200m, momentarily laid out.    
 
Race 2: SEVEN NEWS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 800 M


ENUFF PILLS – Inclined to lay out over the concluding stages.
 
SHOWS A SIGN – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
I AM VOODOO – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.

SUPER ZAMBONI – After being caught wide was restrained to take up a position at the rear of the field.

MISS PERSONALITY – Co-Trainer E. Vincent was fined $100 pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting a horse to the mounting yard with the incorrect gear (without pacifiers).
 
 
Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN OPEN HANDICAP        1350 M


SWISS EXILE – Near the 650m, raced in restricted room to the inside of TREPORTI. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the home turn. When asked to comment on the performance of TREPORTI, Jockey R. Maloney reported that SWISS EXILE didn’t appreciate racing between runners and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.  

WINSTON SMURFHILL (NZ) – After beginning well commenced to buck and lost considerable ground. Trainer N. Mc Call was advised that WINSTON SMURFHILL (NZ) would be required to complete two consecutive official trails prior to racing again.

DON PEDRO – Bumped on jumping away.
 
TREPORTI – Near the 800m was taken wider when MAXIMUM VORTEX shifted out.        
 
FAKE MAGIC – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped DON PEDRO. Raced in restricted room approaching the home turn. Apprentice T. Fenlon reported at scale that her mount felt awkward in its action leaving the 500m, and as a result elected not to place the gelding under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer B. Gorman was advised that after today’s disappointing performance, FAKE MAGIC would be required to officially trial prior to racing again.
 
Race 4: GORDON'S GIN MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350 M


ROSA KISS – Near the 1000m, was obliged to steady from the heels of TAPAGAL which shifted in.
 
SEXY TIME (NZ) – Inconvenienced and obliged to shift in when STABILIZER shifted in under riding approaching the finishing line. Jockey H. Richardson, the rider of STABILIZER was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for allowing her mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear to do so.
 
AMAZARA - Slow to begin and lost considerable ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn. Jockey S. Cormack reported at scale that in his view the mare may be in season which may have attributed to its disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed that the mare was in season. Trainer C. Richardson was advised that following the disappointing performance, AMAZARA would now be required to officially trial prior to racing again.
 
BROWN RIVER – Bucked shortly after the start. Trainer R. Tyrell was advised that BROWN RIVER would now be required to officially trial prior to racing again. Laid out when placed under pressure and weakened over the concluding stages.
 
MISSISSIPPI DREAM (NZ) – Reared on several occasions leaving the mounting yard, dislodging Jockey R. Maloney. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised that a warning would now be placed on the mare in relation to its pre-race manners. Trainer D. Vandyke indicated that he would place consideration into making gear changes on the mare. Fractious behind the barriers.

BLIGHTYS HOPE (GB) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after resuming from an extended spell and was cleared to start.
 
DOING IT – Declared a late scratching at 2:44pm due to transportation difficulties.
 
RATENOTICE – Raced wide. Jockey B. Lerena dropped his whip near the 50m.

STABILIZER – Shifted in under riding over the concluding stages.
 
Race 5: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP          2160 M


ALDEENAARY (IRE) – Shifted out and bumped TEWKESBURY at the start. Raced wide from the 1000m. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
DEMARCAY (GB) – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced in restricted room approaching the finishing line when ABOVEFORTY laid in.
 
TEWKESBURY -Hampered at the start.
 
ENTERPRISE PRIVATE – Jockey A. Mallyon reported at scale that his mount may not have appreciated todays track conditions. Lost its near fore plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

GULF OF TOMINI – Slow to begin.        
 
DEEP DAWN – Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn. Improved onto heels approaching the 150m before shifting out to improve.
 
ABOVEFORTY – Laid in over the concluding stages obliging its rider to stop and straighten.
 
WHATJEUDOIN' – Hampered at the start. Rounding the home turn improved onto heels and was obliged to steady before shifting in approaching the 250m.
 
 
Race 6: SCHWEPPES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200 M

COINCIDE – Very slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn
 
ALFA LILY – Raced wide early.

PRETTY RHO – Slow to begin.   
 
FIELD AGENT – Began awkwardly.

ABSOLVE – Trainer B. Gentle was fined $100 pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting a horse to the mounting yard with the incorrect gear (without blinkers). Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on the performance of ABSOLVE, Jockey M. Hellyer reported that when placed under pressure from the 600m, the gelding failed to respond and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer B. Gentle was advised that following today’s disappointing performance, ABSOLVE would now be required to officially trial prior to racing again.

Race 7: LIVING TURF BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP  1680 M

HOUSTON ROCKET – Slow to begin.   
 
REGGIE'S FOLLY – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted today, Jockey T. Fenlon reported that after beginning only fairly he elected to settle further back in the field than anticipated, rather than being caught wide.
 
AUNTY RENE – Apprentice C. Sutherland reported that in his opinion, AUNTY RENE may appreciate track surfaces with more give and drop back in distance.   
 
ARTSPACE (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a minor laceration to its near foreleg.
 
AUTUMNGIRL – Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn.
 
BENFICA LASS – Slow to begin. Jockey A. Jones was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts to the finishing line.      
 
PELE PRINCESS – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
Race 8: IPSWICH PARTY HIRE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP          1350 M
 
DARK ARTS – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied near the 1000m when awkwardly placed on heels.
 
SMART RECOGNITION – Raced wide until approaching the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

NORTH COURT – Disappointed for a run to the inside of MAGIC IN ME in the early part of the home straight. Improved onto heels over the concluding stages and had to be steadied.

JUNGLE PRINCE (NZ) – Near the 150m, contacted the rail and became very unbalanced. Apprentice J. Newman was advised to stop and straighten her mounts when shifting ground in future.  When asked to comment on the performance of JUNGLE PRINCE(NZ), Apprentice J. Newman reported that the instructions given were to ride the gelding with cover and back in the field. She further added that the gelding was inclined to lay in in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

CANSORT – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that CANSORT would attempt to settle off the speed. Raced keenly and settled further forward than anticipated. Near the 1000m, was inconvenienced when DETRIMENTAL shifted in. Jockey C. Graham the rider of DETRIMENTAL was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in that she allowed her mount to shift ground under riding when insufficiently clear to do so.
