Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY MDN PLT – 2076M
 
BIG ANDY – Near the 1600m was caught wide and allowed to stride forward by its rider and attain the lead from the 1100m.
 
GENTLE PRINCE - Over raced in the middle stages when the pace steadied.
 
ROYAL GEORGE - Pulled hard in the early stages.
 
A GLASS OF BUBBLES (NZ) – Slow to begin. 
 
PRINENTE – Over raced in the middle stages when the pace steadied.
 
TRUTHIZ – Leaving the 400m had to be steadied when crowded for room between LILLIVALE LIBERTY and A GLASS OF BUBBLES which shifted in. C Jokic, rider of A GLASS OF BUBBLES was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Approaching the finish was crowded between LILLIVALE LIBERTY and A GLASS OF BUBBLES both of which shifted ground.
 
HEAR HEAR – Rider G Cartwright reported that her mount hung in throughout the event placing at her at a severe disadvantage.
 
Race 2: 2 SOMERSET REGIONAL COUNCIL / AQUIS FARMS "BELLEVUE HILL" (AUS) QTIS 3YO MDN PLT – 1200M
 
DEDORS LAD – Shifted in on its own accord at the 500m and bumped the running rail. Rider A Jones reported that DEDORS LAD would benefit from the addition of blinkers.
 
HILL BILLY FLYER – Made the home turn awkwardly.
 
MATADOR MORALES – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.
 
SORCHPOPILOUS(NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Stewards questioned K Wilson-Taylor regarding SORCHPOPILOUS’ performance. Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor stated his mount travelled fairly throughout the event, however failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying airway congestion in conjunction with a respiratory condition. Trainer D Vandyke was advised that an endoscopic examination must be produced prior to the gelding’s next start. Subsequently, trainer D Vandyke reported to stewards that on return to the stables SORCHPOPILOUS underwent an endoscopic examination, with no issue being detected. Mr Vandyke undertook to report back on the condition of SORCHPOPILOUS (NZ) in the days subsequent if anything becomes amiss with the gelding.
 
SPIRITUAL BELIEF – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey S Bogenhuber stated that instructions were to be positive on the filly and race on the speed. She added that after jumping awkwardly and being trapped wide, she initially elected to attempt to take up a position at the tail end of the field, however SPIRITUAL BELIEF refused to settle and rather than fight to restrain the filly, she allowed her mount to stride forward and attain the lead. She further added that although the filly had to do some work to attain the lead, she was nonetheless disappointed with SPIRITUAL BELIEF’S finishing effort and as a result elected not to place her mount under any more pressure from the 300m. A post-race examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D Baker indicated to Stewards that SPIRITUAL BELIEF was uncharacteristically stirred up for her first start today and believed she would take benefit from the experience. He added that he will have the filly undergo an endoscopic examination at his own request and forward the results to Stewards.
 
SUFFRAGETTE CITI – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 3: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS KILCOY SPRING CUP BM62 HCP – 1500M
 
TEST OF WAR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and cleared to start after being struck by BLACK SEA which reared up after being loaded into the barriers.
 
BLACK SEA – Declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2.34pm after becoming cast after rearing in the barriers. On declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on BLACK SEA be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply;
 
1st       DULCIE TIE - 10 cents a win, 8 cents a place
2nd      TEST OF WAR – 14 cents a place
 
A post-race vet examination revealed soreness in both front legs. Trainer P Jenkins indicated BLACK SEA would now be retired from racing, nonetheless, Stewards advised that BLACK SEA must trial satisfactory prior to its next race start and would also require a veterinary clearance if it resumes a racing career.
 
DULCIE TIE – Made the turn out of the straight awkwardly and lost ground.
 
SISTINE AVENUE – Momentarily held up at the home turn.
 
After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good (4).
 
 
Race 4: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL BEST REGIONAL BAR QLD BM55 HCP – 1900M
 
KINKUNA– Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
FOUND THE MARK– Rider A Fancourt reported in her opinion the gelding did not appreciate the quick back up from its most recent start at the Sunshine Coast on 22nd October. Trainer T Hurley concurred with jockey Fancourts’ comments and further added that FOUND THE MARK would not be spelled but would go for a short break before resuming its preparation.
 
STATIC LIFT – Inclined to hang in in the early stages.
 
STARBUSTER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race vet examination of the gelding revealed blood in its mouth consistent with having bitten his tongue. Had difficulty in obtaining clear running rounding the home turn.
 
YES NO MAYBE SO – Race three wide in the early stages before progressing outside the leader at the 1100m.
 
Race 5: BECHLYS TRANSPORT F&M BM55 HCP – 1100M
 
DREAM WEAVING– Slow to begin. Raced four wide throughout. Taken wider rounding the home turn when ME MUM’S FOXY shifted out to improve. Stewards questioned apprentice Z Sprie in the presence of senior jockey S Cormack as to the tactics adopted on DREAM WEAVING. Apprentice Sprie stated that he was instructed to be positive on the mare and race on the speed to attain the lead if possible. He added that after being slow to begin, he persisted to ride to instructions and attempted to place DREAM WEAVING in the front of the half of the field, however once he had made the decision to press forward, DREAM WEAVING was unable to show the necessary speed required and when DREAMALINA’s jockey improved its position to his inside, he was forced to race wide for the entirety of the event. He added that although he raced wide four the majority, he was still disappointed with the finishing efforts of the mare. Stewards noted apprentice Sprie’s comments however advised that in this circumstance, once he was slow to begin, he would’ve been better served to place his mount at the rear of the field to at least give DREAM WEAVING the chance to settle and finish its race off. Bearing in mind Apprentice Sprie’s inexperience and the comments submitted by senior jockey S Cormack, Stewards took the matter no further.
 
PEACHIES DREAM– Raced three wide. Rider A Spinks was reminded of his obligation that he does not raise his arm higher above shoulder height.
 
AMBERTONE– Weakened considerably from the 400m and a post-race examination revealed no abnormalities. Jockey G Cartwright stated that AMBERTONE felt fine in her action however when placed under pressure, the mare refused to respond to her riding. Trainer T Thomas was advised AMBERTONE must trial satisfactorily prior to his next start to prove its competitiveness.
 
DREAMALINA– Raced three wide with cover for the majority. Laid out under pressure
 
Race 6: THE FULL MOON HOTEL ON BRAMBLE BAY CGE BM55 HCP – 1100M
 
BRUTUS – Raced three wide with cover.
 
HEART VANDELAY - Jumped out at the start
 
LOVESON – Blundered on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
HIDDEN GLADE – Began awkwardly and raced wide in the early stages.
 
BLUE PACIFIC – Shortly after the start bumped with PRINCE OF DIAMONDS. Raced wide throughout and hung out for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer D Batters was advised that BLUE PACIFIC requires a veterinary clearance prior to it’s next start.
 
PRINCE OF DIAMONDS – Shortly after the start bumped with BLUE PACIFIC. Had to be steadied from heels rounding the home turn.
 
AURORA CHARM – Slow to begin
 
DER SIEGER - Approaching the 900m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room when BLUE PACIFIC hung in. Steadied off the heels of PRINCE OF DIAMONDS after the winning post when that runner shifted out.
 
CROSBY ROAD – Approaching the 900m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room when BLUE PACIFIC hung in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
Race 7: SEARLES GARDEN PRODUCTS KILCOY RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HCP – 1500M
 
As this race was run in steady rain, it was downgraded retrospectively to a SOFT 5
 
SUPERVISOR – Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
MODERN FAMILY – Slow to begin
 
THE KNIGHT – Jumped out at the start and bumped WAIKATO heavily. R Jamieson reported the gelding was inclined to lay out in various stages.
 
ZAGITOVA - Approaching the 800m was bumped on the hind quarters by EPIC PLAYER and shortly after had to be checked when that horse shifted in despite the efforts of the rider.
 
EPIC PLAYER – Approaching the 800m had to be steadied off the heels of BROOKWYN and shortly after commenced to race greenly and shifted ground despite the efforts of the rider.
 
WAIKATO – Change of Tactics - Race in a more forward position, circumstances permitting. After being slow to begin and bumped shortly after the start settled in a worse than mid field position.
 
BILL OF RIGHTS – Jumped out at the start. Made the crossing at the 1200m awkwardly and lost ground. Wide throughout.
 
FORT MYER – When questioned with the seemingly improved performance, jockey M Crawford stated that FORT MYER was down in grade today, was able to attain the lead and as FORT MYER has been successful at this track previously, he was confident of a forward showing. Trainer D Corbett concurred with M Crawford’s comments.
 
REFLECTIVE – At the entrance to the home straight was crowded for room and momentarily steadied when WAIKATO shifted out to gain clear running. Rider S Cormack, the rider of WAIKATO was instructed to take more care.
 
PRUNDA – Wide early stages. Held up rounding the home turn.
