Stewards – A. Dowsett, S. Nosworthy, P. Warren

RACE 1: BOOK EVENT CENTRE FOR FUNCTION CLASS 6 PLATE 1050 M

BOLD HUNTER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Laid out rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination determined that the gelding had bled from both nostrils for the second occasion. Trainer J. Manzelmann was notified that in accordance with AR79(6), BOLD HUNTER would now incur a lifetime ban from racing in Australia.

COBBO – Raced keenly in the early stages.

DEVIL DEVIL – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.

DEALING'S DONE – Began awkwardly.

ROTH 'N' BUBBLE – Leaving the 1000m, raced in restricted room and was steadied when BOLD HUNTER shifted in and away from KEYBOARD (N. Summers) which shifted in. Rider N. Summers was advised to exercise greater care. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Laid out under pressure near the 250m. Stewards questioned rider W. D’Avila regarding the performance and tactics adopted from approaching the home turn. W. D’Avila advised that his instructions were to ride the mare with cover in the second half of the field, adding that after receiving some pressure leaving the 1000m, his mount settled back further than he had anticipated and that his mount did not respond to his urgings in the early and middle stages. He added that upon entering the home straight, he elected to ride for luck and that approaching the 200m, KEYBOARD shifted in, resulting in him being awkwardly placed on the heels of COBBO and due to being inside the heels of KEYBOARD from the 200m, was unable to shift out to obtain clear running and as a result was held up and unable to test his mount in the run to the finish. Stewards noted the explanation tendered. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

RACE 2: MANGO JUNCTION PLAYING TO DAY AT TRACK MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100 M

CASH PIT – Raced greenly throughout.

BREECHES – Slow to begin. Shortly after the start was steadied when tightened for room between DEBBIE BABY and ZABOOG. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

THREE TEES – Shortly after the start, raced ungenerously and attempted to buck, losing significant ground. Laid in when under pressure in the home straight. Trainer T. Cook was advised the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again.

DALT JAZ – Knuckled on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages.

DEBBIE BABY – Began awkwardly.

SHEEZA FLING – Leaving the 900m, checked and lost ground. At a subsequent inquiry, stewards found that leaving the 900m, SHEEZA FLING was checked when tightened for room as a result of POWERED RIGHT UP being taken in by CASH PIT, which after being bumped by BREECHES, overreacted and shifted in, despite the efforts of the rider. Stewards were satisfied that no rider was responsible for this incident and took no further action.

RACE 3: BOOK FOR CLASSIC RACEDAY SATURDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER HANDICAP 1200 M

AMBERINGER – Slow to begin.

OUTBID – Began awkwardly. Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn. Hung out under pressure in the home straight and raced greenly for a short distance approaching the 100m. Rider W. D’Avila reported that his mount was inclined to hang out throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near-fore. Trainer G. Hughes was advised he would need to obtain a veterinary clearance prior to OUTBID racing next.

HI FRANK – Began awkwardly. Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn. Approaching the 200m, shifted out and away from OUTBID, resulting in AMBERINGER which was following having to be steadied and shift away from that runner’s heels. Rider J. Murphy stated that after being slow to begin from a wide barrier, he was obliged to race wide and was unable to obtain a forward position as per his instructions. He added that the gelding failed to respond to his riding from approaching the home turn and was disappointing.

TARONG – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on TARONG leading today’s event, rider A. Sewell stated that his instructions were to be more forward than last start. He added that after beginning awkwardly, he pressured his mount in an effort to follow instructions and after OUR EAGLE ROCK, which had established the lead, began to settle the speed near the 1100m, he elected to allow his mount to stride forward in preference to restraining and sitting behind the leader in a slower run race. Trainer L. Gordy confirmed that it was the intention to be more forward and to be one off and one back in the field, adding he was surprised to see the gelding lead, and was disappointed as TARONG did not finish off the race as he expected. In reminding L. Gordy of his obligations to notify Stewards of instructions to ride a horse differently to that of its most recent start, Stewards took into consideration the evidence of rider A. Sewell, their own observations and assessment of the race including the official patrol footage, and in doing so took the matter no further.

VIKING SUN – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Leaving the 900m improved onto the heels of OUR EAGLE ROCK and was steadied. Momentarily held up for clear running approaching the home turn.

RACE 4: LADBROKES FORM GENIUS HANDICAP 1300 M

GO GETABOY – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted out abruptly approaching the winning post, before being corrected by the rider.

KATHY'S BEAU – Apprentice T. Orr reported that the gelding travelled comfortably throughout and responded to his riding in the early stages of the straight, however peaked on its run near the 200m and felt that the six week break since its last start had an effect on the overall performance. Apprentice T. Orr was reminded of his obligations under AR132(6)(b) regarding the use of his whip above shoulder height.

FLYING SHAMUS – Apprentice T. Fenlon reported it was not her intention to be as forward as she was, however after beginning well, she elected to let her mount stride forward to obtain a position closer to the rail.

GRAND DE LAGO – Raced three-wide without cover in the early and middle stages.

SVINDAL – Raced keenly in the early stages and was steadied from heels at the 1100m.

BRASCO – Began awkwardly.

AIDENABET – Laid in near the 300m and brushed the running rail.

MEDIA EMPIRE – Rider J. Murphy stated that his mount travelled comfortably and whilst it had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight, ran on fairly and that he was not disappointed with the performance.

RACE 5: MC BUTCHERY 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1300 M

Prior to correct weight, rider A. Sewell and trainer T. Simmons (CONSIDER IT READY, 2nd placegetter) viewed the Stewards patrol film in the home straight. When A. Sewell and T. Simmons were satisfied that there was not sufficient grounds for an objection, and Stewards similarly agreed, correct weight was declared.

MR CALEB – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Momentarily eased leaving the 100m when CAILIN ALAINN shifted in. Rider R. Wiggins reported he was disappointed with the performance of his mount, adding that the gelding travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, however failed to finish off as expected. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

CONSIDER IT READY – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

MAJOR DESIRE – Shifted out on jumping and bumped JUST FRANK, before shifting in and bumping LATIN LOVE.

LATIN LOVE – Hampered shortly after the start lost ground.

JUST FRANK – Bumped at the start.

RACE 6: LADBROKES QUICK MULTI BM60 HANDICAP 1800 M

PRIMO – Approaching the 1500m, shortened stride and made the crossing awkwardly.

BO BO BEWARE – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped THE PENSKE FILE.

MORDECAI – Near the 250m, shifted to the inside of TRIGGERIFIC resulting in MORDECAI being disappointed for a run and unable to improve until shifting out near the 150m. When questioned, rider W. Satherley stated that he endeavored to ride for luck rounding the home turn in preference to shifting out wider, adding that at a point approaching the 250m, he elected to take a run to the inside of TRIGGERIFIC which shifted in, resulting in him being held up. In considering the evidence and available footage, Stewards were of the opinion that there was insufficient room near the 250m for a run for MORDECAI which shifted in marginally, which ultimately resulted in that runner being held up and unable to improve. Stewards in taking no further action, did advise W. Satherley to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

THE PENSKE FILE – Hampered at the start. When the pace eased near the 1200m, was steadied from heels.

CARACRISTI – Passing the winning post on the first occasion, raced keenly and had to be restrained from the heels of BO BO BEWARE. Near the 1200m, improved onto the heels of BO BO BEWARE, was steadied, and then commenced to race keenly for a short distance later.

ROY'S ROAD – Approaching the crossing near the 1500m, got its head up in the air and when being restrained, shifted out.

TRIGGERIFIC – Slow to begin.

RACE 7: J & C ELECTRICAL BM55 HANDICAP 1100 M

UNCUT GEM – Began awkwardly. Raced three-wide in the early stages without cover. When asked to comment on the performance, rider W. Satherley stated that shortly after the start when caught extremely wide from the barrier, he elected to ride forward to obtain a position closer to the rail near the 800m. He added that while the mare travelled comfortably, the four weeks between runs, the heavy weight imposed on UNCUT GEM as well as having to pressure his mount early, had a bearing on the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

MATTEI – Shifted in on jumping and bumped FLYING MAPLE. Raced three-wide with cover in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

MISCHIEF IN DUBAI – Began awkwardly. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.

RAVENITE – Apprentice T. Fenlon reported that it was her intention to be more forward, however was unable to hold a forward position due to the fast pace and elected to ease back to obtain cover in the early stages.

SUPER TALON – Rider N. Summers reported that her mount was inclined to hang in under pressure in the home straight.

FLYING MAPLE – Resaddled upon arrival at the barriers. Shifted out on jumping and bumped MATTEI.

IRISH ROCKET – Approaching the 500m, raced in restricted room between IMMORTAL LASS and UNCUT GEM, resulting in the mare being buffeted on several occasions.

ZAYA – Began awkwardly. Raced three-wide with cover in the early and middle stages.

I'M FAMOUS – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
