Race 1: Go Electrical Maiden Plate – 1800m
 
MASSTOO – The start was delayed when the gelding proved difficult to load.
 
ITSALLKAY – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
KOLSTAR – Slow into stride. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
CHAINSMOKER – Caught three wide without cover in the early and middle stages before being allowed to stride forward passing the 1000m to obtain the lead. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey B. Pengelly stated that it was his intention to settle the gelding in a midfield position with cover, which is consistent with its normal racing pattern, however after attempting to do so, for a considerable distance prior to leaving the 1200m he was unable to do so and therefore elected to stride forward and obtain the lead and be in a position closer to the rail.
 
 
 
Race 2: Pablo’s Tex Mex Caloundra QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1000m
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight the connections of the 4th placegetter, PRIMO AGOSTO, viewed the stewards patrol footage of the home staright, to ascertain if they had grounds to lodge an objection against PERFECT QUALITY being declared 3rd.  Subsequently they did not wish to proceed.
 
ROCK PAPER SIZZLE – Connections advised that from the wide barrier the colt would be ridden in a rearward position if possible.  The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
WHITE SATIN DANCER – Bumped on jumping.
 
WHOSTOPPEDTHERAIN – Bumped on jumping. Shortly after straightening laid out when placed under pressure.
 
PERFECT QUALITY – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced greenly in the early stages and commenced to hang out after passing the 700m.  Shortly after straightening continued to race greenly and hung out for the remainder of the event.
 
JOMERA – Hampered between runners on jumping. When questioned regarding the performance of the filly, which was supported in the betting, apprentice J. Murphy explained that it was his intention to be in a more forward position in the early stages, however after receiving some slight buffeting between runners on jumping, the filly settled further back than he would have liked.  He further added the filly never travelled comfortably at any stage, and when placed under pressure upon entering the home straight, it failed to respond for a short distance, however over the concluding stages ran on strongly. He further added that the filly would improve with today’s run and may appreciate a step up in distance at its next race start.
 
PRIMO AGOSTO – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with JOMERA.  Was taken wider by PERFECT QUALITY, which hung out after passing the 700m. Shortly after straightening laid in for a short  distance, and then passing the 300m was slightly inconvenienced by PERFECT QUALITY, which laid out.  
 
BUSINESS AS USUAL – Slow into stride.
 
STAGE PLAY – Raced five wide after passing the 700m.
 
 
Race 3: Coast 2 Coast Earthmoving QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1300m
 
THIRD MARTINI – Began awkwardly.
 
GREAT BRAVE – Slow into stride and then bumped.
 
BAY NOT GREY – Began awkwardly.
 
FALLOW – Bumped shortly after the start by SOUTHERN SWING. After passing the 400m was bumped when racing in restricted room to the inside of BAY NOT GREY and to the outside of GREAT BRAVE, which shifted out slightly.
 
 
 
Race 4: Pitchers Hospitality Supplies Maiden Plate – 1300m
 
FABERGE LASS – Began awkwardly.
 
REMOLAD – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 150m had to be steadied when slightly cramped for room by HERMITAGE, which laid out. Jockey L. Dittman, rider of HERMITAGE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
I’M CHAUNCEY – Bumped by FABERGE LASS, which shifted in and away from MANHATTANITE passing the 1100m.
 
MANHATTANITE – When racing keenly between runners was bumped heavily by SATURN OPS, which shifted in near the 1100m. Approaching the 100m became awkwardly place between FABERGE LASS and REMOLAD, which shifted in.
 
WILCARUISE – Raced fiercely in the early stages and had to be shifted out away from heels.  Was then allowed to stride forward to race three wide without cover after passing the 1000m. Passing the 150m was tightened for room and had to be checked away from the heels of SATURN OPS.  
Jockey N. Day, rider of SATURN OPS, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a), in that passing the 150m he permitted SATURN OPS to shift in under riding when insufficiently clear of WILCARUISE, which had to be checked and lose its rightful position.  Jockey Day’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days, to commence at midnight, 1 May and to expire at midnight, 10 May.  In determining penalty, stewards took into account the low to mid range degree of carelessness, his guilty plea and his good record in relation to this rule.
 
INVINCIBLE TRAIN – Passing the 1000m was forced to shift wider on the track to avoid the heels of WILCARUISE. Raced four wide without cover after passing the 800m.
 
SATURN OPS – Overraced in the early stages and raced three wide with cover.  Laid in under pressure passing the 200m.
 
HERMITAGE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
STONEFISH – Raced three wide with cover.
 
JUST GIVEME RUBIES – Lost its off foreplate in running.
 
MIZ MACEY – A post race veterinary examination revealed it had sustained some lacerations to the off hind leg and had lost its off hind plate in running.
 
 
Race 5: Vili’s Family Bakery Class 3 Plate – 1800m
 
GUISE – Began awkwardly.
 
TOGA PICTA – Overraced in the early stages and got its head up on a number of occasions when being restrained.
 
EDEN ROAD – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
UNION DUES – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 6: Secure Access Pty Ltd QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
DANETIST – Began awkwardly.  Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
ME MUM’S FOXY – Bumped heavily by DANETIST on jumping and forced out on to SEMAPHORE GIRL and became unbalanced and lost ground.
 
SEMAPNORE GIRL – Bumped shortly after the start and again tightened between runners and lost ground soon after.
 
BATTLE PLANE – Shortly after the start laid in and was bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced.  Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
EPIC BEL – Approaching the 900m became awkwardly placed at the heels of DANETIST and had to be steadied.  Raced three wide with cover.
 
LUCKY SPIRIT – When racing between runners in a trailing position approaching the 900m it commenced to overrace and proved difficult to restrain.
 
 
 
Race 7: Southeast Stainless Class 1 H’cap – 1000m
 
ROGUE DRUMMER – Trainer T. Thomas was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time.
 
CAPTIVATED – Began awkwardly and shifted in.   Bumped shortly after the start.  Laid in under pressure over the final 200m.
 
SMOOTH CELEBRATION – Slow to begin and then was tightened for room at the start.
 
OH MONA – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 50m appeared to falter and fell, dislodging jockey R. Maloney. The filly then galloped riderless for a short distance before being captured and escaping any apparent injuries. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia.  Trainer D. Vandyke was advised that a veterinary clearance and results of an ECG must be provided and the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. Jockey R. Maloney was examined on the track by ambulance personnel and then was subsequently transported by ambulance to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further examination.
 
HOLLYWOOD ROSE – Bumped on jumping.
 
MORT DOYLE – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
FLAME OF LIBERTY – Laid in under pressure over the final 200m.  
 
 
 
Race 8: TAB Benchmark 85 H’cap – 1400m
 
As a result of the fall in the previous race, Stewards, Sunshine Coast Turf Club officials and riders inspected the section of track where the fall took place. It was agreed that some remedial work be undertaken. Following this, an inspection by all parties were in agreeance that the track was safe to continue with the remaining races. Subsequently Race 8 was rescheduled to start at 4.14 pm, Race 9 at 4.53 pm and Race 10 at 5.35 pm.
 
BALIUS – Trainer B. Witt was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time.
 
MR BELLAGIO – Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition and became unbalanced.
 
HECTOPASCAL – Began awkwardly.
 
BODEGA NEGRA – Began very awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier partition, and rider S. Cormack lost the use of his off-side stirrup for a short distance, placing him at a disadvantage.  Shortly after was allowed to stride forward three wide to assume a position outside the leader passing the 900m.
 
SNITCH – Approaching the 1300m had to be steadied away from the heels of SECRET MO, which shifted in.  Apprentice M. Murphy, rider of SECRET MO, was issued with a reprimand under the provisions of AR131(a) for not allowing sufficient room when crossing runners. Overraced in the early stages when in a trailing position.
 
ZOFONIC DANCER – Passing the 1300m was heavily bumped by SNITCH, which shifted out.
 
SECRET MO – Approaching the 1200m, after being crossed by DEEP IMAGE, commenced to overrace and was reluctant to settle.
 
Race 9: SCTC Membership Class 1 H’cap – 1400m
 
The start was initially delayed when STAR MAJOR required its near fore plate to be refitted behind the barriers.
 
The start was further delayed to allow for an overseas event.
 
Prior to the start being effected RAISE AN ARMY lunged forward and made heavy contact with the barrier partition, which eventually opened.  The horse was removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon, which revealed blood in its mouth and was therefore declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4.58 pm with the following deductions applicable.
 
21 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
20 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
19 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
16 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
A post race veterinary examination revealed blood in its off-side nostril, which occurred as a result of external trauma.
 
RIDGWAY  - Slow to begin.
 
SECRET AGENT MAN – Slow into stride.  Approaching the winning post was tightened for room and had to be checked away from the heels of HOT SOCK, which shifted out.  At a subsequent inquiry, jockey D. Smith, rider of HOT SOCK, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that passing the 50m he allowed HOT SOCK to shift outwards under riding, tightening the running of SECRET AGENT MAN, which had to be checked and lose its rightful position. Jockey D. Smith’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days to commence at midnight, 7 May and to expire midnight, 20 May. In determining penalty, stewards took into account the mid range degree of carelessness, his not guilty plea, and his recent poor record in relation to this rule.
 
 
OSCARS LOT – Passing the 700m had to be steadied away from the heels of GEM OF THE LOCHS.
 
GEM OF THE LOCHS -  Bumped passing the 150m by ROSSMAY, which shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
 
Race 10: Craft Beer & Food Twilight Races 3rd May Class 2 H’cap – 1200m
 
Due to the delay in the previous event, the start time for this race which was already rescheduled to 5.23pm was again rescheduled to a new start time of 5.35pm.
 
SECRET SPIRIT – Jockey R. Plumb was fined $200 for being overweight and not being able to fulfil his engagement which he accepted.
J. Orman was substituted as the rider. Raced four wide without cover.
 
TECHNO SAVVY – Slow to begin.
 
PATRIOTIC ROSE – Slow to begin and was then tightened for room between runners shortly after. Jockey L. Tarrant reported his mount was making an abnormal respiratory noise on pulling up.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer D. Hansen was advised that he must provide the results of an endoscopic examination prior to the horse racing again. 
 
BOUNTY HUNTER – Shortly after the start laid out, tightening runners to its outside.
 
NAVY – As R. Maloney was injured in an earlier event, he was replaced by M. McGillivray. Hampered shortly after the start.
 
AL MAGICO – Shortly after the start was inconvenienced when buffeted between runners. Raced three wide with cover.
