RACE 1: BELLAGROVE ESTATE MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M

INVINCIBLE CHOICE – Raced wide for the majority. Apprentice C. Collis was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the finish line.

PARAT SIBIFORTUNAM – Slow to begin. Cast it’s near hind plate.

BODYSWERVE – Raced with a near side bubble cheeker which may have been incorrectly advertised.

TAJALAT (IRE) – Trainer T. Gollan advised a change of tactics, attempt to be ridden further back if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Raced greenly during the early stages whilst restraining for cover. When asked to comment on the mare’s performance, Jockey D. Moor stated that the mare raced keenly during the early stages and would take further benefit from the race experience.

VOVO – Raced wide for the majority until obtaining a leading position near the 600m.

RISE AND RESIST – Began awkwardly.

TA LA MASCA – Slow to begin.

RACE 2: CARGO TRANSPORT SYSTEMS MAIDEN PLATE 1600 M

WHOLELOTTATAPIN (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not starting for an extended period and was subsequently cleared to start. Had to be resaddled on arrival to the barriers. Raced wide throughout.

CONTINENT – Near the 800m, improved onto heels and steadied.

DREAM SUMMIT – Leaving the 1400m, obliged to steady from the heels of NIENNA (NZ) which shifted in when insufficiently clear.  Jockey S. Sheargold rider of NIENNA (NZ) was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Leaving the 1000m, over raced for a short distance.

FROTHSAY – Held up approaching the home turn. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey C. Graham stated that the mare had a tendency to over race throughout and in her opinion may not have been suited to the step up in distance.

LIPSTICK LIES – Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 1400m, momentarily hampered and obliged to shift wider when PHYLISS was taken out slightly by CASTELLO GRANDE which was steadying from heels.

NIENNA (NZ) – Over raced during the middle stages. Near the 1000m, became awkwardly placed at the heels of ASPIRE TO WIN. Jockey D. Moor rider of ASPIRE TO WIN was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

PHYLISS – Raced keenly during the early stages. Hampered near the 1300m when CASTELLO GRANDE shifted out to avoid heels. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, Apprentice J. Williams in the company of senior Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor explained that Trainer Mr R. Tyrell had advised him to pressure the mare in the early stages in an attempt to settle in a midfield position. He further added that approaching the 800m, after racing in a position one off the fence, he was carried wider to a three wide position when FROTHSAY shifted out and when  approaching the home turn rather than electing to shift wider, he was mindful of WHOLELOTTATAPIN (NZ) which had raced three wide throughout and did expect that runner to weaken. Apprentice J. Williams elected to shift back to the inside of FROTHSAY in an attempt to save ground before shifting wider leaving the 250m. Stewards confirmed the riding instructions with Mr R. Tyrell who was satisfied with the Apprentice’s ride, however Stewards advised Apprentice J. Williams that in their opinion he had erred by not electing to shift to the outside of WHOLELOTTATAPIN (NZ) rounding the home turn and when considering Apprentice William’s ride in its totality, elected not to issue a charge. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its off foreleg. Trainer R. Tyrell was advised PHYLISS would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.

RED VEGAS – Received farrier attention prior to this event and was subsequently clear to start.

CASTELLO GRANDE – Leaving the 1400m, obliged to steady to avoid heels.

SPINALONG LASS – Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 1400m, momentarily hampered and obliged to shift wider when PHYLISS was taken out slightly by CASTELLO GRANDE which was steadying from heels.
