SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Toowoomba 27.09.2025 – Race 7. KRONENBOURG
Stable representative for the T. Gollan stable reported that KRONENBOURG had pulled up well and it was the stable’s intention to continue with the gelding’s preparation.
GENERAL
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the conduct of jockey C. Graham and her actions regarding her mount ROCKY REWARD prior to the running of Race 1.
RACE 1: CLOPF EQUINE SURFACES QTIS 3YO & 4YO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
ROCKY REWARD – Slow to begin. Trainer L. Birchley was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for being reluctant to proceed to the start.
ARABIAN ROSE – Approaching the 800m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
TECHNA – Began awkwardly.
I'LLTELLYOUTONIGHT – Shifted out under pressure near the 150m.
THE PUBLICAN – Began awkwardly.
RACE 2: MARTIN COLLINS FIBRETRACK CLASS 1 PLATE 1000 Metres
MERCIAN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
NOBLE INTENT – Slow to begin.
CAXTON LASS – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
RAFALE JOLIE – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
JAGGERY – Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice L. Martyn reported that the gelding may not have appreciated today’s track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
RACE 3: DRESSAGE QUEENSLAND QTIS 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres
CARAMELFUDGESUNDAE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 900m. Steadied from the heels of CRYSTAL GARDEN which shifted in when racing greenly.
CRYSTAL GARDEN – Slow to begin. Whilst weakening near the 200m, became awkwardly placed at heels and had to be steadied. Jockey D. Moor reported his mount raced greenly throughout.
DO WHAT I SAY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance, trainer N. Keal reported that the gelding received some minor interference at its last start at Toowoomba. He added that, he was somewhat surprised at the performance although he attributed it to the addition of a senior rider, the removal of the winkers and the bigger track.
EGYPTIAN GODDESS – Hampered between runners on jumping and lost ground. Near the 800m, steadied from heels.
HOT COCOA – Steadied from heels near the 900m when racing keenly. Crowded and inconvenienced near the 50m.
LUCCI – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment, rider K. Wilson-Taylor reported that LUCCI had recently trialled well and he was confident of a forward showing, however, in his opinion, the filly was disappointing. Trainer S. Kendrick also expressed disappointment in the performance and advised he will report back to Stewards if anything comes to light in the subsequent days that may have had a bearing on the performance of the filly. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
MAKING EYES (NZ) – Improved onto heels near the 200m and was obliged to shift in near the 100m to secure clear running. Improved onto heels over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully tested in the run to the finish.
PRONTO PERCY – Bumped on jumping. Passing the 800m, steadied from the heels of MAKING EYES which shifted in when not fully clear. Rider R. Maloney (MAKING EYES) was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
WESTERN LIGHTS – Began very awkwardly and bumped with PRONTO PERCY. Raced wide until the 700m. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. Shifted in near the 50m, before being corrected by its rider.
RACE 4: MC EQUINE SURFACES QTIS 3YO COLTS & GELDINGS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres
ARMES – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and approaching the 400m became awkwardly placed on the heels of FIND ME.
EXCEEDINGLY BRAZEN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Put in an awkward stride near the 500m and became unbalanced.
FIND ME (IRE) – Began awkwardly.
KING COBAMA – Bumped on jumping.
LUKE SKYWALKER – When asked to comment on the performance and the tactics adopted, jockey B. Thompson reported that from the wide draw, his instructions were not to pressure his mount in the early stages and attempt to find cover. He further added that this resulted in LUKE SKYWALKER settling further back in the field than he had hoped. Rider Thompson also added that, in his opinion, the gelding would derive benefit from the raceday experience and anticipates that from a better draw would be able to settle further forward than it did today. Trainer’s representative C. Cavanagh confirmed that instructions issued to rider B. Thompson.
PENROD – Connections advised of a change of tactics – to lead if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
SEALORD (NZ) – Raced greenly in the home straight proving difficult to be fully tested by its rider. Approaching the 200m, momentarily steadied from the heels of VANDEVELDE which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey J. Lloyd, rider of VANDEVELDE, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Co-trainers T. and M. Sears were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
TRAIL BOSS – Gave ground from the 600m and finished tailed off. Cast the near hind plate. Jockey D. Smith advised that TRAIL BOSS raced greenly throughout and he had recommended to connections to add blinkers to the gelding’s gear. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying respiratory noises. Trainer G. Hay was advised that TRAIL BOSS will require a veterinary clearance inclusive on an endoscopic examination prior to racing again.
VANDEVELDE – Slow to begin.
RACE 5: POLYTRACK OPEN HANDICAP 1400 Metres
DREAM HOUR – Held up for clear running from the 550m until the 400m.
TAVISTORM (NZ) – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer S. Kendrick advised that it was the likely intention to retire the gelding.
RACE 6: MARTIN COLLINS CLOPF MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 Metres
ABRAHAM – Rider J. Huxtable reported that it was not his intention to be in a forward position, however with the addition of winkers, the gelding began well, travelled strongly and placed itself in the first half of the field.
SIR WINNIE – Raced wide throughout.
AVERRED – Near the 800m, had to be steadied from the heels of ZOUMON ALONG.
TAITY – Slow to begin.
BUTWEDID – Inconvenienced near the 1100m. Raced wide throughout. Rider D. Thornton reported that BUTWEDID was obliged to race wide throughout, however was in his opinion, somewhat disappointing.
PRAISE YOU – Inconvenienced near the 1100m. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported that his mount became very worked up prior to the start which may have had a detrimental effect to its finishing effort.
ZOUMAN ALONG – Commenced to over race near the 1200m, proving difficult to settle. Near the 1100m, improved onto heels of MOMENT and had to be checked. Near the 250m, disappointed for a run between PRAISE YOU which shifted out and BUTWEDID and was obliged to shift in. Apprentice C. Sutherland, rider of PRAISE YOU, was advised to stop and straighten his mounts when shifting ground. Approaching the 150m, disappointed for a run between FULL STRENGTH and PRAISE YOU and was obliged to shift in.
WILDSPITZE – Inconvenienced near the 1100m. Near the 800m, had to be steadied from the heels of AVERRED. Raced wide for the majority.
CAESAR CAKE - Co-trainers G. Heinrich and B. Rodgers were fined $200 for the late declaration of rider pursuant to LR67(1). Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
RACE 7: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 2200 Metres
KENSHIN MARU – Rider P. Hamblin advised Stewards that in his opinion, the gelding was not suited to the 61kg weight impost. Rider P. Hamblin was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for raising his whip arm above shoulder height.
TRAPEZE TORQUE – Began awkwardly.
PREFER TO DANCE (NZ) – Shifted out under pressure near the 300m before being corrected by its rider. Shifted out under pressure near the 200m before being corrected by its rider. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported that it was not his intention to lead, however his instructions were to be in a forward position with cover and not to be caught wide. In attempting to comply with these instructions, he was obliged to let the gelding stride forward to lead, passing the winning post on the first occasion. Shifted out under pressure near the 300m before being corrected by its rider. Shifted out under pressure near the 200m before being corrected by its rider.
TAKEOVER ARTIST – Jockey D. Smith reported his mount began to make a respiratory noise and commenced to tire from the 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying upper respiratory tract sounds. Trainer D. Raffin was advised that veterinary clearance inclusive of the results of an endoscopic examination prior to racing again.
EYELEFTIT – Near the 550m, improved onto heels. Near the 350m, disappointed for a run between KATERINI and TUKI TWELVE.
KATERINI – Leaving the winning post on the first occasion, commenced to over race when being restrained.
LA VITTORIA – Over raced during the early stages.
ANOTHER DAZZLER – Slow to begin.
