SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT


GENERAL
Race 5 – Trainer J Moore was fined $200 pursuant to LR68 (1) for failing to scratch CHEERFUL CAT by the prescribed time.
 


RACE 1: CATANACH'S JEWELLERS FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP   1400 M
 
RUBYDOO Held up for clear running from the 400m until the 200m.
 
TSUKINO Began awkwardly shifted in, bumped with STRIKE THE HEART and as a result lost ground.
 
STRIKE THE HEART When asked to comment on the performance, jockey R Maloney explained that the mare settled well in the early stages when the pace slackened and STRIKE THE HEART was inclined to lay out under pressure in the straight. He further added that the mare responded to his riding in the early stages in the home straight, however weakened from the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
TECHNA Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
ECHO HUNTER Slow to begin. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Rider reported that the slow tempo did not suit ECHO HUNTER in today’s event.
 
SHOW ME THE STARS Lost its near hind plate in running.


RACE 2: BOLD CONSTRUCTION GROUP FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP        1200 M

BROWN RIVER  Underwent a resaddle at the barriers. Began awkwardly, shifted out, bumped with HIGHLAND KITTY and lost ground.
 
HIGHLAND KITTY Hindquarters contacted when BROWN RIVER shifted out at the start.
 
HIGHGROVE ROSE Began awkwardly and bumped with HIGHLAND KITTY. Approaching the 200m was obliged to shift out when AMELIORATION shifted out under pressure. Apprentice R Thorburn was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts.
 
ROCKING FROCKS Underwent a resaddle at the barriers.
 
OUTDOOR CAT Over raced in the early stages when attempting to gain cover. Near the 400m shifted out in attempt to improve, a short distance later was disappointed for a run and was held up for clear run until approaching the 200m.


RACE 3: WIDEWOOD TRANSPORT COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
 
RUSTENBURG Bumped by CLIVE’S GLORY at the start.

ATE IRON  Slow to begin.
 
ZOUSTROLOGY Began awkwardly, shifted out onto CLIVE’S GLORY, which was taken out onto RUSTENBURG. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
CLIVE'S GLORY On jumping was taken out onto RUSTENBURG when ZOUSTROLOGY shifted out. Raced wide.
 
LYNEHAM Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until the 300m.
 
SEATICUS Raced wide throughout and was forced wider near the 650m. Trainer R Davidson was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting SEATICUS with the incorrect gear.
 
SOLAR SURFER Began very awkwardly causing its rider to become unbalanced.


RACE 4: BEERWAH GOLF CLUB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP  1000 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 6 minutes due to TENGUN JESSIE requiring farrier attention.
 
POTENCO Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, when being directed to the inside, the bit pulled through the horses’ mouth and was not fitted to the horses’ mouth for the remainder of the event.
 
SWAGGERING (NZ) Improved onto heels near the 500m and became awkward. After passing the 100m, shifted in under pressure causing its rider to stop riding and straighten.

LUMINOUS GIRL Raced wide.
 
RED MOON RISING Began awkwardly. Trainer C Anderson was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late rider declaration for RED MOON RISING.
 
TENGUN JESSIE Lost its near fore plate on route to the barriers. TENGUN JESSIE became fractious when attempts were made to refit the near fore plate and as stewards were not satisfied to allow the filly to race barefoot Infront, stewards declared TENGUN JESSIE a late scratching at 2:53pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on TENGUN JESSIE be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – MOROCCAN WIND 11c win, 8c place
2nd – SWAGGERING (NZ) 18c place
3rd – RED MOON RISING 12c place
 
SAN GIMIGNANO Raced wide.

NUZANA Began awkwardly and shifted out. Improved onto heels near the 500m and became awkward.


RACE 5: PERRY'S SUNSHINE COAST EVENT HIRE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP        1800 M
 
PREPOTENT Obliged to be steadied after improving onto the heels of SIAN STAR when the pace slackened near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have minor abrasions to the near foreleg.

SIAN STAR Raced wide until near the 1400m before obtaining cover.
 
SPRAY GUN Over raced in the early and middle stages. When asked to comment on the performance of SPRAY GUN, jockey A Jones stated that after jumping well, the gelding began to race keenly after obtaining the lead. She added that it was not her intention to lead in today’s event, but in her opinion the gelding travelled well until the 400m then proved disappointing when SPRAY GUN began to weaken in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer M Currie reported to stewards that in light of today’s performance the gelding would be retired from racing.
 
OLE BAZZLE (NZ) Began awkwardly. Obliged to be steadied after improving onto the heels of SETTAT when the pace slackened near the 800m. Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Passing the 200m had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance.
 
SETTAT (NZ) Slow to begin.
 
KERKORIAN Slow to begin. When the pace slackened near 800m, shifted wider to improve and raced wider from that point onwards.


RACE 6: WIDELAND GROUP JCB COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (QTIS FOR 3YO'S ONLY)     1400 M     
 
CRACKENTHORPE (NZ) Apprentice C Sutherland reported that he anticipated to settle in a more forward position. However, after beginning awkwardly, he elected to settle at the tail of the field.
 
JUNGLE FEVER Forced wider near the 500m when HELL OF A LAD shifted out.

HELL OF A LAD When leaving the 500m, improved onto the heels of GONE TO CAPE YORK and shifted out as a result, forcing JUNGLE FEVER wider.
 
GONE TO CAPE YORK When asked to comment on GONE TO CAPE YORK’s performance in today’s event. Jockey D Thornton stated that his mount travelled well until being asked to quicken from near 500m and weakened from that point. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer C & C Munce’s stable representative was advised that GONE TO CAPE YORK would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
TREASURER After being caught wide during the early stages, was permitted to stride forward to a position outside the lead when passing the 900m. When asked to comment on performance of TREASURER in today’s event, apprentice J McMurray stated the gelding commenced to hang in, in the early stages of the home straight and weakened badly from the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer M Renehan advised stewards that he would report back in the coming days that might explain the gelding’s performance.
 
TRYMESOON (NZ) Slow to begin.
 
CHANCE WITH WOLVES Bumped with JUNGLE FEVER on jumping. Had difficulty obtaining clear running during the early stages of the home straight.
