GENERAL
1. Stewards approved the following over weights.
R3: Adam Sewell (LINE OF KINGS) + ½ kg
R8: Ryan Wiggins (SHE’S A BEAUTY) + ½ kg
R8: Chelsea Jokic (EXTRA FREE) +1kg
R8: Chris Whiteley (LIVEWIRE LASS) +1kg
RACE 1:GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO MAIDEN HANDICAP (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE 2&3YO ONLY) 1200 M
OSCAR BOOIE – inclined to over-race in the lead in the middle stages. Following the event OSCAR BOOIE was treated by the track veterinarian for minor lacerations on the near hind fetlock, consistent with the gelding having been galloped on during the running.
SHADYVALE AL – momentarily steadied leaving the 250 metres and shifted wider to continue to improve.
JOT GIRL – shifted out on jumping making heavy contact with the barrier, losing considerable ground.
PRINCESS SHANGHAI – over raced in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the improved performance of PRINCESS SHANGHAI trainer/rider Wanderson D’Avila stated after being checked at Townsville at its penultimate start on 31st March 2026 when in contention, the mare had then been unsuited by a quick back up and heavy track at Cairns on 4th April 2026. His explanation was noted.
FRENCH DRAGON - slow to begin.
RACE 2: CHRYSALIS MEDISPA QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 M
MAGIC SUNNY DAY – had to steady when on heels near the 50 metres.
BOOM BUNNY – commenced to lay out rounding the home turn and near the 200 metres.
KAJETAN – slow into stride.
WE US 'N' CO – tightened for room on jumping between POWERWISE, which shifted out, and MAGIC SUNNY DAY which shifted in; hung out under pressure in the home straight. Rider Wanderson D’Avila admitted a breach of AR 132(7)(a)(ii) and was fined $400.00 after applying his whip excessively prior to the 100 metres. In reaching this finding the Stewards recognized that rider D’Avila had not breached this, or any whip related rule, for more than two years.

RACE 3: LOLS COMEDY FESTIVAL 30TH MAY @ CLUDEN PARK OPEN HANDICAP 1000 M
VALENKI – shifted wider near the 100 metres to continue to improve.
LINE OF KINGS – slow to begin.
RACE 4: LADBROKES FORM GENIUS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1609 M
CENTRAL PARK – slow to begin.; laid in near the 150 metres and had to be corrected.
RELEASE LE MISSILE – slow to begin.
MOOLOOLABA (NZ) – over-raced in the lead throughout.
JOE'S GIGGLE – inclined to over-race in the middle stages.
ELLIS BEACH – over-raced in the early and middle stages.
RACE 5: LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M
OUTSMARTED – rider Wanderson D’Avila accidently dropped his whip near the 50 metres.
SAND 'N' POWER – after being slow to jump away was then bumped by JOHN JOSEPH and in consequence settled back, over-raced in the initial stages.
JOHN JOSEPH – over-raced in the preliminary stages; had to steady near the 130 metres when awkwardly near the heels of MISSION HOUSE (Chris Whiteley) which shifted in. Rider Whiteley was reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised to take greater care when in similar circumstances.
MISSION HOUSE – lost its near-hind plate during the running; shifted in near the 130 metres compelling JOHN JOSEPH to steady.
RHEGION -began very awkwardly and shifted out bumping with SHOCKSTAR (NZ); raced 3-wide without cover throughout.
SHOCKSTAR (NZ) - shifted in on jumping and bumped with RHEGION losing ground: over-raced in the early stages.
RACE 6: HYGAIN BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200 M
TALONS – bumped by RUM RUMBLE after the start.
RUM RUMBLE – began awkwardly then shifted in bumping with TALONS; held up for a short distance rounding the turn.
AIRCLASH (NZ) – slow to begin.
ALBANIAN BAY – slow to begin.
LOOMING ONE – raced awkwardly near heels passing the 900 metres.
THAT'S IT – unruly behind the barriers – warning placed.
FANCY GARTER – Rider Lacey Morrison was reminded of her obligation to ride her mounts fully to the finish where circumstances permit after easing her riding immediately prior to the winning post. In assessing Ms. Morrison’s ride, Stewards were satisfied that her actions had not compromised the mare’s finishing position.
RACE 7: LADBROKES PUNTER ASSIST BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 M
NOLAN – crowded and had to steady near the 400 metres when awkwardly placed between LOWLANDS which shifted out to improve, and NORTHERNONTAP which shifted in momentarily. After questioning all riders concerned, the Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied any rider was culpable and no further action was required, other than to remind all riders to always provide sufficient clearance.
TIME TO PROPHET – raced wide in the initial stages
NORTHERNONTAP – raced 4-wide without cover throughout.
IRRESISTIBLE FORCE – began awkwardly and settled back; pulled hard through the middle stages.
KHUMBILA – over-raced in the preliminary stages; raced wide with cover.
LOWLANDS – slow to begin
MAXIMUM POWER over-raced in the initial stages; raced 4-wide with cover throughout.
MATTEI – slow to begin then hampered when TIME TO PROPHET shifted out.
RACE 8: MITAVITE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 M
RAMIUS – raced 3-wide throughout.
PARPPY 'N' ME – faltered passing the 500 metres and fell dislodging Apprentice Gabby Semmens who was attended by QAS medical personnel and transported to Townsville University Hospital with a suspected arm injury. PARPPY 'N' ME was humanely euthanized by the Track Veterinarian after sustaining leg fractures. Swab blood samples were obtained.
SHE'S A BEAUTY - bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. Shifted in Approaching the 100 metres tightening STORM CAPITAL which was checked. Rider Ryan Wiggins admitted a resultant breach of AR131(a) and after consideration of all relevant factors Rider Wiggins’ license to ride in races was suspended for 10 days.
Stewards noted that Jockey Ryan Wiggins license to ride in races was suspended for 7 days regarding his whip use at the Rockhampton meeting on Sunday 12 April 2026 with that suspension to commence at midnight 21st April 2026 and conclude at midnight 28th April 2026. Stewards ruled that today’s interference suspension would now be served cumulatively to the above and is to be served from midnight on Tuesday 28th April 2026 up to and including racing on Friday 8 May 2026 ( additional 10 days).
VEGAMEISTER – raced 4-wide without cover throughout.
TARONG – raced wide with cover throughout.
EXTRA FREE – slow to begin and got back; bought down near the 500 metres when PARPPY 'N' ME fell, with rider Chelea Jokic being uninjured.
LIVEWIRE LASS – raced 4-wide with cover throughout.
PROPERLEIGH – fractious in the barriers prior to the start; raced 3-wide with cover throughout.
LECONFIELD – began awkwardly; badly hampered by fallen runners near the 500 metres.
STORM CAPITAL – tightened and checked approaching the 100 metres when inside SHE'S A BEAUTY which shifted in. Rider Aidan Holt viewed vision of the concluding stages for the purposes of lodging an objection however elected not to proceed.
