As Apprentice O. Kendal was not riding due to an injury she was replaced as per the race day summary. Apprentice O. Kendal was advised a medical would be required prior to riding again.
Rider A. Keeley was reprimanded pursuant to AR128(1) for failing to arrive on course by the prescribed time.
Apprentice S. Callow was fined $100 purusant to AR128(1) for failing to arrive on course by the prescribed time.
RACE 1:BETTER LAWYERS GROUP CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 M
IL FRATELLO (NZ) - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider D. Peisley reported that in his opinion the gelding which was slow to begin would derive benefit from today’s first up performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
ZARIPPA – Laid in under pressure in the straight, passing the 200m, when laying in, shifted in abruptly before being corrected by its rider.
DREAMWRITER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
HEROIC DELANEYS –Raced wide without cover throughout.
SHEDRIVESABENTLEY - When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in today’s event Apprentice C. Sutherland reported from the wide gate and with his mount being first up, he was instructed to settle towards the back of the field and ride for luck in the straight. When questioned in relation to his riding from 600m. C. Sutherland explained that given the mare was travelling well, and in an attempt to comply with instructions, he elected to ride for luck attempting runs through the field, rather than shifting wider at this stage. After viewing the patrol footage C. Sutherland agreed with the Stewards view that he should have shown more vigor between the 600m and 450m to improve into the race, whereby he would have been able to obtain clear running at the entrance to the straight. C Sutherland further added that the mare would appreciate a step up in distance at its next race start.
SHE'S BRUTAL – Passing the 800m when racing keenly had to be steadied from the heels of IL FRATELLO.
PEACH GALANTES – Shifted out on jumping.
JEDIAH - Passing the 150m was disappointed for clear running, then had to be eased when racing in restricted room between IL FRATELLO, which had shifted in marginally, and SHES BRUTAL.
ROIGARD - Slow to begin. Passing the 1100m had to be steadied when racing in restricted room close to the heels of HEROIC DELANEYS (A. Keeley) which shifted out and SPIRIT OF SAINTLY which had been carried in by IL FRATELLO (D. Peisley), which shifted in when not quite clear. Both riders were reminded of their obligations when shifting ground.
SPIRIT OF SAINTLY – Began awkwardly. Near the 1100m was carried in slightly by IL FRATELLO. Raced wide throughout.
RACE 2:MOORE TRAILERS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M
MISHANI RENEGADE - Slow to begin.
HEROIC MISS – Bumped with ZOUTHUR shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.
CRYPTOLINI – Near the 300m was bumped by VIALE which shifted out and STAR RAPPER which shifted in marginally, resulting in CRYPTOLINI becoming unbalanced. Rider A. Butler reported the gelding, which was first up, traveled well but when asked for an effort failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
VIALE - Began awkwardly. Near the 300m shifted out and bumped with CRYPTOLINI. Apprentice S. Callow had no explanation for the performance of the mare which had weakened considerably in the straight. When questioned regarding her riding approaching and rounding the home turn, S. Callow explained in the stables opinion and hers, the better part of the tack in the home straight was away from the rail and as a result near the 300m she allowed her mount to shift out in an attempt to get away from the inside fence. Mr. K. Kemp confirmed the nature of the instructions and re-affirmed it was his belief that the best going was away from the rail in the straight. After viewing the Stewards patrol film with her master Mr. K. Kemp, Ms S. Callow agreed with Stewards that in hindsight it would have been best to have maintained her position rather than shifting out, which allowed AMENOPHIS an unimpeded run in the home straight to her inside. Trainer K. Kemp was at a loss to explain the performance of the mare and advised Stewards VIALE would now be sent for a spell.
WARILLA GORILLA - Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the straight and passing the 150m had to be eased and shift out when close to the heels of NORTY FORTY.
BIG BOY GEORGE - Slow to begin.
STAR RAPPER – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Near the 300m was bumped.
ZOUTHUR (NZ) – Bumped with HEROIC MISS shortly after the start.
INDY ROSE WARRIOR (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
RACE 3:HIGGINS COATINGS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1300 M
HOLLYWOOD EPIC – Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 100m had to shift out to obtain clear running.

SHUT EYE (NZ) - Changes of tactics to settle further back with cover. Began awkwardly. Settled midfield three wide with cover.
CHAYSE 'N' LEISA - Rider A. Sheargold could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
PORRISTA (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight and near the 250m, when laying in, was steadied off the heels of the weakening CHAYSE ‘N’ LEISA. Continued to lay in until the 100m where the gelding was eased down by its rider. Rider A. Butler reported the mare travelled well, however failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery.
RUBAAHY- Slow to begin.
RACE 4:PLATINUM GLASS & SECURITY BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1625 M
MARENARO - Slow to begin and then shortly after the start was hampered between KIDS IN THE KITCHEN which shifted in and NORTY FORTY, which began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 500m until approaching the 400m. Approaching the 200m, when making ground quickly, was obliged to alter course after improving onto the heels of KATERINI which had shifted out when weakening.
IRAMA – Apprentice B. Youngberry was at a loss to explain the performance of the gelding and could only comment that in her opinion her mount may have not run out a strong 1625m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow post-race recovery.
MAZITA –Under pressure from the 600m and then weakened from the 500m before being eased down over the final 300m. Passing the 400m, when weakening, was steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of NOTES (D. Boche), which in turn had been bumped and carried in slightly by BLUE CHIP GIRL (App. K. Lenton) As a result MAZITA made contact with the running rail becoming unbalanced. After taking evidence from L. Dempsey (MAZITA), D. Boche (NOTES), App. K. Lenton (BLUE CHIP GIRL) and B. Lerena (KIDS IN THE KITCHEN) along with viewing the available patrol footage it was established that at a point near the 400m as MAZITA was weakening, NOTES shifted out to avoid the heels of MAZITA, in doing so raced in restricted room between MAZITA and BLUE CHIP GIRL who had established a narrow run to the inside of KIDS IN THE KITCHEN. As Stewards could not lay blame for the incident to any one rider, both D. Boche and App. K. Lenton were reminded of their obligations to show more care in similar circumstances. Rider L. Dempsey reported it was not his intention to lead in today’s event but after beginning well from an inside gate and with other runners failing to show superior speed, he found himself in the lead with little effort. He further added that in his opinion the gelding is not best ridden in this manner and failed to quicken when asked for an effort passing the 600m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. MAZITA is now suspended from racing and is required to compete for a barrier certificate prior to returning to the races.
MADALSA – Near the 1400m severely hampered by KNOWITALL FRANK which when over racing hung out badly. After being hampered, raced wide without cover until the 900m.
BLUE CHIP GIRL – Approaching the 200m was disappointed for a run between IRAMA which was weakening and KIDS IN THEKITCHEN which had shifted in under riding. Laid out over the concluding stages.
KIDS INTHE KITCHEN – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 1400m when racing keenly was steadied out away from the heels of IRAMA. Raced wide throughout. Rider B. Lerena pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 131(b) for failing to ride his mount out fully to the end of the race. He was fined the sum of $300. In assessing penalty Stewards took into consideration his guilty plea, forthright evidence, record and that Stewards were of the view that his actions did not affect the result of the race.
KNOWITALL FRANK – Approaching the 1500m commenced to over raced, near the 1400m hung out badly hampering MADALSA carrying that mare wider, which in turn hampered and carried PENDING LIST extremely wide where both runners lost ground. Trainers C. & K Geran were advised the gelding would be required to officially trial to Stewards satisfaction on two (2) consecutive occasions prior to racing again. Application was made by co trainer Mr. C. Geran whereby due to the lack of official trials scheduled in the region, one of the reinstatements could be an official jump out. Stewards acceded to this request where a maximum of 1 jump out and minimum of 1 official trial would be required for reinstatement.
NORTY FORTY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
NOTES (NZ) - Began awkwardly. Passing the 400m raced in restricted room before being bumped by BLUE CHIP GIRL.
LORD PROTECTOR (NZ) - Change of tactics to settle further forward if circumstances permit. Slow to begin. Settled midfield. Raced keenly in the early stages

Rider D. Boche (EXOFLOW) was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) in that passing the 1000m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MISHANI MOET (App. M. Apel) which, when taken in, carried in MISHANI GLAZE (M. Murphy) onto AMERICAN CONQUEST.
SEISMIC BOOM – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 650m mark brushed with MISHANI MOET which caused SEISMIC BOOM to shift out marginally.

MISHANI GLAZE- Bumped with MISHANI GLAZE at the start.
SWEET PRETENDER – Near the 650m clipped the heels of SEISMIC BOOM, blundered, unbalancing Apprentice S. Callow. Stewards inquired into the incident where it was established that near the 650m S. Callow travelled up close to the heels of SEISMIC BOOM and at a point where S. Callow attempted to shift out into a four wide line SEISMIC BOOM brushed with MISHANI MOET and stepped out marginally, which in turn caused SWEET PRETENDER to clip heels and blunder. Due to the evidence provided and the available patrol footage, Stewards deemed this to be a racing incident but nonetheless reminded both riders to ride in a safe manner.
