GENERAL

Due to race time changes, Apprentice C. Krahnen was unable to fulfil her engagement in race 4 and was replaced by Apprentice I. Jessop.
 
RACE 1:GROVE JUICE QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1350M
 
Prior to correct weight, Jockey M. Savva, rider of the 3rd placed VALLEY OF FAME reviewed the Stewards patrol footage of the home straight. After deciding not to proceed with an objection, correct weight was declared on the judges numbers.

WEATHER – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground. Trainer W. Nugent was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority.
 
FUNDORA – Laid out over the final 200m.
 
TEXAS TERRIER – Slow into stride. Trailed the field throughout. Trainer R. Hilton was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for being uncompetitive.
 
YELARBON LAD – Near the 1000m, commenced to race keenly, improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
 
VALLEY OF FAME – Inconvenienced near the 50m at the heels of WAITING FOR GRAHAM which was taken out by FUNDORA.

WAITING FOR GRAHAM – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Near the 50m, inconvenienced and taken out by FUNDORA (A. Keeley) which laid out under pressure. Jockey A. Keeley was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) and advised to stop riding and straighten his mount in future circumstances.


RACE 2:SOUTHERN DOWNS AG RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 800M

EXOSTOVA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Obliged to alter course and shift wider leaving the 200m to obtain clear running.

BARBRA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid out and away from ANABIA in the early and middle stages of the home straight. Shifted in over the final 50m.
 
ANABIA – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Taken in over the final 50m.
 
MISHANI STELLER – Slow into stride. When asked to comment, Apprentice J. Metcalfe advised the filly may not have been suited to today’s heavy track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
SUPER EXCEPTIONAL – Began awkwardly.
 
TAYLOR'S RAGE – Resaddled on arrival at the barriers. Began awkwardly.
 
MISSY'S READY – Raced wide for the majority.
 
I'M A CHOCOHOLIC – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.


RACE 3:ERGON ENERGY OPEN HANDICAP 1200M

JACK BE LUCKY – Blundered on jumping.

HASTEN DELIGHT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
MISHANI RENEGADE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers after making contacting with a fence leaving the mounting enclosure and was cleared to start. Trainer D. Stanbridge was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its pre-race manners. Raced keenly in the early stages. When asked to comment, Apprentice O. Kendal advised the gelding was inclined to hang out throughout the event. Trainer D. Stanbridge advised it is the intention to retire the gelding.
 
INATICK – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
ADALIE – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground. Co-Trainer C. Geran was advised a warning would be placed on the mare. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted out under pressure near the 100m.  
 
GALPIN – Raced keenly whilst being restrained in the early stages.
 
SMART RECOGNITION – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, Apprentice S. Callow advised it wasn’t her intention to lead, however from the wide barrier she elected to pressure her mount to attempt to cross to a forward position closer to the rails. She stated that after obtaining that position, the gelding commenced to over race and proved difficult when attempting to restrain so she allowed her mount to stride in the middle stages. She added that when placed under pressure, the gelding commenced to weaken which she believes was attributable to its racing manners in the early stages.
 

RACE 4:PICKLEBET GET YOUR PICKLE ON BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1100M

SIX OF WANDS – When asked to comment, Apprentice A. McColm reported the gelding may not have been suited to today’s heavy track.

AUSSIE ADAPTOR – Began awkwardly.
 
ZARIPPA – Raced wide throughout.
 
THIEF BY NIGHT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding settling in a forward position, Apprentice I. Jessop advised it wasn’t her intention to be as far forward, however she had no specific instructions other than allow the gelding to travel where comfortable. She stated that after not beginning the best, she pressured the gelding and from the 900m THIEF BY NIGHT travelled well, so she elected to allow her mount to stride to a position outside the leaders.
 
SKY BLUE – Began awkwardly. Unable to obtain clear running approaching the 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
PURPLE ESPRIT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment, Apprentice C. Williams advised the mare may not have been suited to today’s heavy track.
 
SHAMOUTI – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
INVISIBLE TARGET – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BEAN BALL – Raced wide throughout.
 

RACE 5:WARWICK AUTOMOTIVE GROUP PICNIC CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1500M

RUGBY – Bumped on jumping.
 
PROPHET OF BOOM – Slow into stride. Unable to obtain clear running over the final 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
SIR MEMPHIS – Bumped on jumping. Stewards inquired into the reasons why Apprentice C. Lowe failed to weigh in following the running of this race. When considering the evidence, and after being satisfied that SIR MEMPHIS carried the correct weight, Apprentice C. Lowe was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR210(1) for failing to weigh in on the gelding when required (sixth placegetter).
 
BLUE CHIP GIRL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
TAKUNAI – Raced wide throughout.
 
MIDNIGHT MIRACLE – Slow to begin. Trailed the field throughout. When asked to comment, Apprentice V. Soulsby advised her mount failed to respond to her riding and was disappointing. Trainer S. Thomas was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for being uncompetitive.
 
DOLLY DISCO – Raced keenly in the early stages.
