Race 1: HBB ELECTRICAL MAIDEN PLATE 3-Y-O & Up 800 Metres

DAY TO REMEMBER – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Laid in entering the home straight.

SIR BOB – Slow to begin. Became very unbalanced approaching the 300m and then continued to blunder until being eased out of the race at the 200m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T Parry was advised that SIR BOB would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.

THE GOODGUY – Slow to begin. Trailed the field and resented the kickback from todays racing surface. Approaching the 250m, shied away from SIR BOB which was very unbalanced and made heavy contact with the inside running rail before being eased out of the race at the 200m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Jockey J Rudd received abrasions to his right foot and ankle when the gelding made contact with the running rail and was subsequently examined by the on course QAS Officers before being passed as suitable to fulfil his remaining rides. Trainer R Hermann was advised thatTHE GOODGUY would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.

Apprentice Jockey M Mankelow reported that after being slow to begin, DANCE WIZZARD resented the kickback from today’s racing surface. Apprentice Mankelow also added that the gelding travelled well over the concluding stages and may be more suited to races over a further distance.

NORTHUMBRIA – Began awkwardly and bumped BOURBON LANE.

FABULOUS HOFFA – Raced wide throughout.

OLIGARCHY – Raced wide throughout.

BOURBON LANE – Bumped on jumping.

Race 3: WINTON ROADHOUSE CABINS & CARAVAN PARK CLASS B HANDICAP 1200 Metres

On returning to scale, Jockey M McDonald rider of second placegetter MAKEMINEMILO, lodged a protest against first placegetter RED SUTURE (Jockey S McGovern) alleging interference near the 200m. After viewing the patrol footage and taking evidence from connections of both runners, Stewards found that passing the 200m, MAKEMINEMILO shifted out to take a run to the outside of RED SUTURE and almost simultaneously FIELD MASTER (Jockey J Rudd) shifted in under pressure, resulting in MAKEMINEMILO being obliged to shift back to the inside of RED SUTURE to obtain clear running. Stewards determined that RED SUTURE had only shifted out slightly and the requirement for MAKEMINEMILO to shift back to the inside was attributed to FIELD MASTER shifting in under pressure. Bearing in mind the level of interference and the beaten margin between the two runners, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that MAKEMINEMILO would have finished ahead of RED SUTURE and therefore the protest was dismissed.

MAKEMINEMILO – Shifted out passing the 200m to secure clear running to the outside of RED SUTURE before being disappointed for a run when FIELD MASTER shifted in under pressure. Jockey J Rudd, rider of FIELD MASTER, was reminded of his obligation to stop riding and straighten his mount in similar circumstances.

FIELD MASTER – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Shifted in under pressure passing the 200m.
