M. Cahill explained that his instructions were to be positive on the horse in the early stages. He said that shortly after beginning, with a number of runners showing speed to his inside, he was concerned that he would have been left racing three wide, therefore he felt his best option was to allow the horse to stride forward and cross to the lead.
