When asked to comment on the disappointing performance jockey M Hellyer stated that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure in the home straight the gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise and therefore he desisted from pressuring his mount over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse was still making an abnormal respiratory noise.
