Jockey W Pike was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the gelding which he advised failed to quicken from the 700m when asked to improve. Co-trainer C Maher advised that in light of todays performance the stable will now monitor the manner in which the gelding recovers from today’s performance and should no obvious abnormality present that may have explained today’s performance, the gelding will most likely be spelled. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A swab sample was taken.
