When questioned in relation to the performance of the mare which drifted noticeably in betting, Jockey S Thornton stated that after the mare began only fairly, she elected to ride toward the rear of the field during the event. She added that the mare only travelled reasonably during the middle stages and approaching the home turn hit a flat spot and failed to immediately quicken as she had of hoped. Jockey Thornton however added that upon straightening the mare commenced to run on well despite hanging in slightly and as such was satisfied with its performance.
