Over-raced and proved very difficult to settle in the early and middle stages of the event. Rider S Cormack reported in hindsight he may have been better served in allowing WAIKATO stride forward from the 1200 metres when the pace of the race steadied. Trainer S Cole was advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of WAIKATO.
