Blundered approaching the 100m resulting in V Venkaya being dislodged. V Venkaya was attended to by QAS staff and transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment. After taking initial evidence from several riders in the event, an inquiry into the incident was adjourned to a time and date to be confirmed. Spiritual, which suffered an injury to the nearside shoulder in this incident, was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds.

Commenced to buck a short distance after the start and shifted out abruptly contacting the outside fence resulting in M Castle being dislodged. M Castle was examined by the club doctor and stood down from her remaining engagements. M Castle was advised she must obtain a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. A post-race veterinary examination of GAME STAR revealed a laceration to the nearside pastern. C Cousins, trainer of GAME STAR, was advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance and must also trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
